vietnam veterans

Thanks, Vets

We’re obviously not 100 percent thrilled with what’s become of this country (nor are we 100 percent supportive of the way America wages war these days), but none of that changes the fact that the men and women of the United States Armed Forces are heroes – each and every last one of them.

From the Jolly Green Giants of Vietnam to the Desert Warriors of Iraq and Afghanistan, America’s veterans stand proudly as compelling reminders of what it is that America is supposed to embody … in fact, their service is what gives us the freedom to embody it (or sadly, to choose not to embody it).

We know vets who are hard-core fiscal conservatives (like former S.C. Lieutenant gubernatorial candidate Bill Connor) and hard-core liberals (like S.C. Rep. James Smith), but whether you agree or disagree with their politics it’s important to honor their service and sacrifice.

These men – and thousands of men and women like them – left their homes and families to dodge bullets in hostile war zones. They weren’t compelled to do so, they did so because they believed in this country.

This is for them …
