We’ve been hooked on The National ever since we picked up their 2005 album Alligator on a trip to Washington, D.C.
The Brooklyn-based band – notable for the distinctive vocal style of lead singer Matt Berninger – has been around for a decade, but most people hadn’t heard of them until 2008, when their music was featured at several events by the campaign of President Barack Obama (yeah, he actually got something right).
In addition to Alligator (which we consider to be one of the finest alt-rock albums of the decade), be sure to check out the band’s latest two releases – The Boxer and 2010′s High Violet.
