S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford’s office sent out a press release on Wednesday welcoming Pittsburgh-based Horsehead Corporation to Barnwell, S.C. – along with 65 jobs and an estimated $70 million in capital investment.
Whoop-ti-do and la-ti-da, right?
How much was spent to lure the company? We don’t know (yet), because the S.C. Department of Commerce doesn’t release incentive information immediately – despite our protestations.
Anyway, the second we received the press release we immediately thought of that famous scene from The Godfather when Hollywood producer Jack Woltz wakes up to discover the consequences of refusing a request from Don Corleone.
