Taking it down a notch today we have the debut 2000 single from The Twilight Singers, a band formed by Ohio musician Greg Dulli as a side project to his main band – The Afghan Whigs (you’ll be hearing a lot of them on this site).
The ultimate rock-n-roll bad boy, Dulli made a name for himself with his sexually-charged lyrics and distinctive song-writing style. While other rock bands of the early nineties wore flannel, Dulli wore suits – a displaced, oversexed Blues Brother. More importantly, while other bands hammered out feedback and boring chord progressions, Dulli meshed the grunge guitar sound with blues roots and more mature angst.
Incidentally, he was the only musician other than David Grohl to appear on the debut Foo Fighters album, contributing a guitar part to the song “X-Static.” Dulli and Grohl also collaborated in 1994 on the Backbeat project, a Beatles biopic.
This summer, it was announced that Dulli would embark on his first-ever solo tour, beginning in October …
