“Sabotage” has always been one of our favorite Beastie Boys songs … along with “Professor Booty,” “Intergalactic” and “Brass Monkey.”
We particularly love the bass riff, even though MCA famously flubbed it at the 1994 MTV video music awards (prior to bumrushing the stage during an R.E.M. performance).
Anyway, the video for the song (directed by Spike Jonze) could have been a lot cooler – and would have been a lot cooler had MTV not been so politically-correct back in the good ole days when it still played music.
Among the deleted scenes? A knife fight, a falling-off-a-bridge scene and MCA dressed up in “yellowface.”
Fortunately we’ve got the missing footage (well, everything but the “yellowface”) included in the clip we selected.
