Award-winning cartoonist Robert Arial is back on the warpath against S.C. Rep. Nikki Haley, once again bashing the Republican lawmaker for her perceived hypocrisy on themes that are central to her 2010 gubernatorial campaign.

After a particularly provocative cartoon last month challenged Haley for her hypocrisy on the issue of government transparency (click here to see it), Ariail is now lampooning the Lexington legislator for her tardiness in paying income taxes.  Last week it was revealed that Haley and her husband, Michael, paid their taxes more than a year late on at least two separate occasions.

It’s an issue because Haley has repeatedly touted her experience as an accountant as a qualification for being governor.

Ariail’s cartoon contrasts an image of Haley on the back of a snail with an “action figure” of Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Alvin Greene – who bizarrely suggested earlier this summer that mass production of action figures bearing his likeness would create jobs in South Carolina.

The image of Haley on the snail is labeled “Nikki Haley Inaction Figure.”

Haley is running against S.C. Sen. Vincent Sheheen (D-Kershaw) in the November general election to replace scandal-plagued Gov. Mark Sanford, who is constitutionally limited to serving two terms.  She currently enjoys a double-digit lead on Sheheen, although her support has eroded somewhat in the wake of her convincing GOP primary win.

Greene is “running” against U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint.
