By FITSNews || We’re still not sure who the real South Carolina Tea Partiers are, but nine organizations claiming to be affiliated with the movement in the Palmetto state have censured U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham for his support of Barack Obama’s Supreme Court nominee, Elena Kagan.
It’s the latest show of conservative contempt for Graham, who continues to veer further to the left with each passing day.
Here’s the text of the resolution:
We, the undersigned Tea Parties of South Carolina, are issuing a censure of Senator Lindsey Graham. Sen. Graham, as a member of the Judiciary Committee, recently voted to approve Elena Kagan’s nomination out of committee and to the Senate floor for a full vote. As the lone Republican voting to approve Ms. Kagan, Sen. Graham’s rationale appears to be that as President, Obama has the right to appoint anyone he wishes to the Supreme Court. However, the Constitution’s balance of power requires the Senate to confirm the nominee as being fit for the role. If the President appoints someone who is unfit, it is IMPERATIVE for the Senate to check his power and vote NO. As part of the oath of office, Sen. Graham is required to uphold the Constitution. All of the available evidence indicates that Ms. Kagan is completely unfit for this office and will not uphold the Constitution, but will instead use her powers to legislate from the bench. Ms. Kagan has no experience as a judge, and her graduate thesis reveals her belief in judicial activism and that it is “not necessarily wrong” for judges “to mold… the law in order to promote certain ethical values and achieve certain social ends.” Her time at Harvard also showed that she favors international law over our U.S. Constitution, and she fought all the way to the Supreme Court to ban military recruiters from Harvard. It is clear that she will not uphold our Constitution and will legislate from the bench, helping to destroy our country in the process.
Sen. Graham, if you believe that since elections have consequences and therefore Obama can do as he wishes, without any fight or impediment from those who oppose his radical agenda for America, then we suggest that you step down now and let the people of South Carolina find someone who will fight for our country, our freedom, and our ideals. If you continue in office, understand that We the People are watching you closely, and we will continue to hold you accountable for your failure to uphold the Constitution and Conservative principles, and we will be working hard for your replacement in 2014.
Signing the petition were the Laurens County Tea Party, Seneca Tea Party (which is located in Graham’s home town), Boiling Springs Tea Party, Tea Party of the Lakelands, the SC Black Conservative Movement, Columbia Tea Party, Myrtle Beach Tea Party, Patriots R Us (Walterboro Tea Party) and the Spartanburg Tea Party.
Prior to pissing off conservatives by supporting Kagan, Graham has been censured by GOP groups in Charleston, S.C. and Lexington, S.C. for his advocacy on behalf of amnesty for illegal aliens and new energy tax hikes.
Graham also voted for Obama’s first Supreme Court nominee, Sonia Sotomayor.
Frankly, whatever condemnation he receives – be it from rank-and-file Republicans or Tea Partiers – is well deserved in our opinion.
Graham – who first made a name for himself by grandstanding against Bill Clinton during the 1998 impeachment hearings – gave up protecting the taxpayers years ago in an effort to run to the so-called “center” of the political spectrum. Accordingly, we’ve been through with him for some time – and look forward to seeing a real fiscal conservative (like State Sen. Tom Davis) replace him in four years.

No one is replacing him, and I doubt he gives a damn that the Tea Party censured him, especially considering the fact that he thinks they’re fools.
By Palmetto Dog July 29, 2010 at 7:17 pm
This is pretty funny no its face. A group which Graham has not affiliation with what-so-ever and one which he says will eventually wither away because they don’t have a real plan, decided to censures him?
I guess we will see the Republican Party now censuring Vincent Sheeheen and the Democrats censuring Nikki Haley. Who knows, maybe the Tea Party will see fit to censure both before the campaign is over.
By Keven Cohen is his bitch... July 29, 2010 at 7:40 pm
After getting calls he didn’t like Graham the spineless chump now only does Q&A’s with his waterboy Cohen so he can spout the Neocon agenda uninterrupted and unchallenged.
If SC doesn’t vote this shemale out in his next cycle there is no hope for SC.
By snodgrass July 29, 2010 at 7:46 pm
If his previous responses are any indication, Graham will regard that censure as a badge of honor.

Wow, a closeted country fop faces condemnation by a bunch of bughouse crazy teabaggers.
Yep, we’re in South Carolina.

lindsey doesn’t uphold the Constitution and that’s for sure. Provable in a court of law, you might say.
he oughta be recalled but SC doesn’t have recall power right?

“Is it my imagination or is everyone in the Teabag party gay? Not just regular gay but like 5 guys on one gay with hi voltage toys and mechanical assistance.”
I am sure you are not imagining things. You are just very observant in that low IQ, open-mouth breathing, nose-picking, balls and ass scratching kind of way.
The Tea Party is just reflecting the sentiment of many conservatives in SC. I think Obama has sharpened people’s senses to political reality with his vision and actions to fundamentally change the USA.
Given that Conservatives and Republicans see a need to counter Obama’s lurch to the left, they will not tolerate a politician in Washington whose objective is to work with the other side when he should be fighting for his constituents.
Lindsey Graham wakes up every morning, grabs the WAPO and NYT to see if they have written anything complimentary about him. Then he checks the MSM newscasts to see if he can get a good word there about his ability to work with the democrats on matters such as Sotomayer and Kagan.
Later in the day, he checks to see if anyone from SC has called. If they have called, he authorizes a form letter to them. The man should spend time in Demint’s office and let Demint school him about politics in SC.
The man needs to go.
By Bill July 29, 2010 at 11:57 pm
Graham will spend his time rasing money throughout the country by selling his vote and influence to people that are unfriendly to SC and her ideals.
Then he will come home at election time and buy every GOP Whore leader and consultant. The party loves money and access to power and Graham has both.
To beat him, and he can be beaten, will take someone that has Tea Party voters, rank and file GOP voters (not thier leaders) and that is willing to spend his/her own money.
He can be beaten but it will not be buy some GOP thug like Katon Dawson, or some traditional politician that is worried about spending money or his legacy. It will take guts.
By hal July 30, 2010 at 12:30 am
obd,
I find it interesting that the term you use so much in describing the Tea Party members is a crude sexual slang which describes deviant homosexual behavior. Your pet phrase was first announced by Democrat Anderson Cooper…it’s your party that has their minds in the gutter…I’ve got four children and am still not sure what the hell “tea-bagging” is, but leave it some depraved Democrat to smear those of us who are opposed to socialism…it’s all you guys know…you can’t argue with facts so it’s all about name-calling…pitiful…
By General Washington July 30, 2010 at 7:53 am
Davis matters here. He will not in DC. I REALLY hope he does not leave us. To rid us of Ceips only to abandon us a few years later would be tragic.
By Frank July 30, 2010 at 9:02 am
Graham probably considers himself lucky it’s a mere censure and not a full-throated, non-binding, “Conscience of the Tea Bag” resolution…
I’d like to know if the official Tea Party Censures and Resolutions Coordinator is an eleven year-old girl? I mean like, THAT would be so KEWL!

Bill has a point, and the only person who fits that prescription is Tom Davis. Sit in the lobby of the State House for a session, as I do, and keep your ears open. There’s only one person that insiders like Leatherman and Harrell fear, and that’s Davis. He’s smart and has guts, and he’s a great speaker who call rally the troops. Being associated with Sanford hasn’t turned out to be the downside a lot of other lobbyists thought it would.
But Gen. Washington also has a point. Davis is needed in Columbia right now, and he’s making a difference. It would be a shame to lose him. Then again, Graham isn’t up for re-election until 2014 and four years is an eternity in politics. For the time being it’s good to know he’s thinking about it … wait, has he said he’s thinking about it, or is all this simply speculation?
By DisgustinJustin July 30, 2010 at 10:11 am
We should ignore Graham, and maybe he’ll go away. Tea Party censuring? Who cares? He certainly doesn’t. Let’s just get rid of his ass.
By ceilidh10 July 30, 2010 at 11:05 am
SC should feel lucky to have a Senator with a brain. Jim Demented lacks one.
By countryboy July 30, 2010 at 11:22 am
I’m not a member of the so called tea party, never been to one of their rallies, nor will I be going. But I am in tune with where they are coming from and that is being totally disgusted with government at the local, state and especially, federal level. I think (and hope) we will find in November that the majority of Americans feel this way. So the Tea Party and those who think like them may have the last laugh in November (on the bleeding heart Obama worshipers on this blog who make fun of them).
By countryboy July 30, 2010 at 11:24 am
BTW I can’t stand that limp wristed Graham but he did say one thing I totally agree with and that is changing the law that allows illegals to have children in the USA which automatically become US citizens.
By Gen. Longstreet July 30, 2010 at 11:30 am
Davis would need plenty of artillery and powder. Graham is loaded with greenbacks.
By Robert M. Smith,MD,PhD July 30, 2010 at 11:32 am
Why don’t these cowards sign their names? This kinda put them in the same catagory as the KKK doesn’t it. But instead of hoods they use the “tea party”. These people make me sick!!!!
By Robert's Rules July 30, 2010 at 12:03 pm
The term “censure” is reserved for discliplining a member of one’s own group. Graham has clearly stated he’s not a member of the Tea Party, so why are these groups “censuring” him? Why don’t they go ahead and “excommunicate” him while they’re at it?
If they’re into issusing resolutions of condemnation against people who aren’t members of their organization, maybe they should start with Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Clyburn or any of the other Democrats who control Washington and are driving us off a cliff!
Give me a break. Can’t the 3 guys in the Walterboro Tea Party come up with something better to do with their time?
By Dick July 30, 2010 at 12:05 pm
Graham is a level headed leader. DeMinted is a nut.

Why do ya’ll think he left the Governor’s office….some side poontang in Columbia almost did him in.

Yeah, let’s turn over our entire legislative delegation to the Tea Baggers and have them all turn their noses up and refuse any and all earmarks. And watch all of our tax dollars go to other states. Isn’t that what Sanford and his bitch spawn Nikki think is responsible conservatism?

Gee Hal I never knew that Cooper had used the term. Like all proud Americans I get my news from Jon Stewart and the daily show. But I actually learned the term from another great American, Snoop Dog.
Congrats on the kids but you sound a lot like Ed and Sid. You guys ain’t going Brokeback menage a trois style now are ya? Tea Baggers are so easy!
Speaking of Easy where the hell is Naughty Nikki? I’d like to know how that transparency thingy is workin’ out for her.

Hal responded to Old Bike Dude as follows:
“I find it interesting that the term you use so much in describing the Tea Party members is a crude sexual slang which describes deviant homosexual behavior. Your pet phrase was first announced by Democrat Anderson Cooper…it’s your party that has their minds in the gutter…I’ve got four children and am still not sure what the hell “tea-bagging” is, but leave it some depraved Democrat to smear those of us who are opposed to socialism…it’s all you guys know…you can’t argue with facts so it’s all about name-calling…pitiful…”
Look, Hal, the Tea Party was using the terms, “teabagging” and “teabagger” before anyone else was. Just do an Internet search on signs help up at and/or buttons/t-shirts/hats worn at Tea Party rallies, and you’ll find numerous examples of that fact.
Liberals did, in fact, seize on the use of the terms by people at Tea Party events as a humorous example of just how provincial and ignorant “teabaggers” seemed to be, but neither they, nor “Democrat Anderson Cooper”, coined the phrase. I freely admit that liberals, in between gales of laughter, are now rubbing the nose of the Tea Party in their own ingnorance and stupidity on the subject, but that’s life, brother.
Hey, while you’re on this “moral crusade” to clean up the language used here to describe political opponents, how about getting after all the Teahadist mouthbreathers here who routinely call liberals, or anybody that happens to gore one of their sacred cows like “Naughty Nikki” (think Larry Marchant, for example), for that matter, “f*gg*ts” or other perjorative terms calling their sexual orientation into question. You could start with all of the “teabaggers” here who are focusing on the question of Senator Graham’s sexual orientation to the exclusion of any discussion based on policy simply because he had the “temerity” to say that the Tea Party movement is simply going to eventually fade away, the latest incarnation of the American rightwing fringe to do so (John Birch Society redux).
By the way, I don’t think that you would recognize socialism if it bit you on the ass, any more than bipolar Glenn Beck, that bloated, drug-addled, fat-ass moron, Rush Limbaugh, or any other wingnut on talk radio would.
By Jim August 2, 2010 at 8:21 pm
The SC Tea Parties are largely a bunch of Republicans, who ramble incoherently about birth certificates, the constitution, and I don’t want no government health care, I’m happy with my Medicare. Unfortunately, in SC that gives them a pretty big advantage.
By C20H26N2O August 2, 2010 at 8:58 pm
Nice to see you back, dumbass (perjoratively speaking). You liberals can’t win a single election without some of those folks who are now claimming TeaParty affiliation. Good luck in the next elections. Better hope your illegals get a chance to vote. 2 things many of the true blue were expecting – security of the boundary, and job creation. Score…F. You would have, at the very least, expected huge tariffs on imports and job exports. Score….F.

lindsey has got to go! I don’t even live in his state and know this fact. I do agree with him however, on the illegals NOT being able to have children here and becoming citizens. I do consider myself affiliated with the tea party and lindsey is as far from those values as he can get. believe me, the tea bag party will take over the republican party because the tea bag party sees the republicans as traitors and not being intouch with our value system anymore. they will end up having to be part of the tea party to survive in the future. we are through with this socialism/communism mentality that obama and his kronies are pushing on the us citizens! as far as the crude remarks about the tea party. your I.Q shows you only know how to act like a twelve-year-old. and as for the guy that show his level of education. well, if you have to list or talk about it, I’m sure you never received those degrees. we don’t know you, I could say I’m a doctor of something and you’d never know that it was true.

1. yes Ive gotten plenty of those form-letter-responses from Graham. Always a PLEAURE to wipe my ass with it.
2. The Post and COurier article eludes that Graham is mending fences with the GOP here…that is their false insinuation that the Tea Party IS THE TEA PARTY. They are making up shit.
3. Who is the TEA PARTY? A conglomeration of all kinds of people who know womething i s wrong. Does the leadership of the Tea Party in SC speak for everyone? HELL NO and dont act like you do.
4. Graham looks a little CLAMMY doesnt he?
5. BILL: What iot will take to beat Graham is A. For these LAZY sons-o-bitches to go to get registered and vote. B. For someone to disable all of the cheating Diebold electronic voting machines that pick the winner.
6. COUNTRYBOY: Graham doesnt really want to change the 14th amendment about citizenship. He just wants to open that Pandora’s Box and destroy the Constitution.Dont fall for ANY Constitutional Convention.
7. WILLIE you left out that the Greenville GOP has censured Graham TWICE: once recently and once in 07 over amnesty.
8. Some in the Dorchester GOP tried to censure Graham. They vehemently protected him and two of Graham’s minions came down to oversee the squashing of people’s first amendment rights by abusing the Robert’s Rules of Order. Disgusting.
9. Graham was picked somewhere in his stint as a local representative to become Corporatist/Statist #1. An un-named campaign manager was paid a LOT of money not to run anyone agsint Graham. He has been handpicked and has sold his soul to the baby-eating bankers and the Chamber of Commerce.
The End.

“2. The Post and COurier article eludes that Graham is mending fences with the GOP here…that is their false insinuation that the Tea Party IS THE TEA PARTY. They are making up shit.”
I meant that the GOP is the tea party.
The GOP also has been throwing around the term “activist” like they are activists but it’s a case of “if you say it enough times, they will believe it”.

Lindsey Lindsey just how much are you being paid to be in the Myrtle Beach area on Memorial weekend. Do you have a hidden agenda for being there or could it be you really care …… Me thinks there is some green being slapped your way! The people of Myrtle Beach need to be asking some questions such as who pays the politicians money to attend and event and is there a limit? Sure does seem Horry County can never get away from some type of pay off.
