By FITSNews || Four months after failing to win the inaugural “Race to the Top” competition, South Carolina will get a second bite at the apple.
At stake are millions of federal education dollars that the administration of Barack Obama wants to send to states which offer innovative plans to fix failing schools and bridge achievement gaps between white and black students. Needless to say, we’ve got plenty of failing schools and an achievement gap a mile wide – we just lack any semblance of innovation.
Back in March, Tennessee and Delaware took home $500 million and $100 million, respectively. There is still $3.4 billion of money available, although South Carolina is clearly going to have to put forth a better effort than it did last time.
Joining the Palmetto State in the final round this time are Arizona, California, Colorado, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island. Delegations from each state will travel to Washington, D.C. over the next few weeks to pitch their proposals.

We came in 6th last time, which was just 20 points away from winning. So the pessimism that you all show is really indicative of your hatred for public education and your hopes (I don’t know how everyone has been able to type with their fingers crossed) that we don’t win. Because if we do, then you have to resort to your arguments about how the federal government is terrible and we still suck and we didn’t really win.
There’s nothing like pulling against your own people.

Don’t take it personally Bobby. Will Folks is paid for the articles he writes. He takes large amounts of money from out of state interests such as Howard Rich and then writes whatever they ask him to write. Do not look at Will Folks as someone who is honorable as he clearly is not. You definitely do not want to consider him a journalist. Basically, he is a blogger that will write lies for the highest bidder.
