By FITSNews || In news that’s sure not to warm her mother’s heart, Bristol Palin and her Playgirl-posing ex-boyfriend Levi Johnson are engaged to be married … again.
In fact they got re-engaged two weeks ago – they just didn’t tell anyone about it.
“It felt right,” Bristol said, “even though we didn’t have the approval of our parents.”
The news broke Wednesday via US Weekly magazine – forcing former GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin and her husband to respond with a terse statement that basically said their 19-year-old daughter was old enough to make her own decisions.
Ouch.
Obviously this is the second time Bristol, 19, and Levi, 20, have been engaged. They broke off their first engagement in March of 2009 – three months after Bristol gave birth to the couple’s son, who is now 18 months old. The split was nasty, with both Bristol and her mother basically calling Johnson an attention whore. Sarah Palin was particularly harsh, calling Johnson an aspiring porn star after his Playgirl appearance.
Nothing like Republican reality TV, is there?
Actually, some have speculated that a reality TV deal is what’s really driving the couple’s reunion. In fact, rumors have abounded in Alaska for months that Bristol and Levi’s engagement was merely the first step in a massive publicity effort – one that will eventually culminate with a reality TV show that centers on their lives as young parents.

Oh, the “Peaches and Herb” moment is also probably aimed at silencing any loose cannon fire in the future, as Sarah Palin is widely expected to compete for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012.
Anyway, whether it’s love or not (and whatever may be driving it) … best wishes to Bristol and congrats to Levi. As Jeremy Grey (a.k.a. Vince Vaughn) once said in Wedding Crashers, there’s nothing wrong with “a couple of kids who like to f*ck trying to make it honest.”
