SC Dem Chair Stepping Down

By FITSNews || S.C. Democratic Party Chairwoman Carol Fowler will step down in 2011, ending one of the most ineffective tenures in the history of the once-dominant state party.

The news of Fowler’s decision to resign rather than seek a third term was first reported by Gina Smith of The (Columbia, S.C.) State newspaper. For her story, click here.

Fowler had a wide-open opportunity to chart a new path for Democrats after she was chosen to lead the state party in 2007.  With Republican legislative leaders spending like drunken sailors and numerous statewide officials exposing themselves to embarrassing scandals (including Gov. Mark Sanford’s infamous fall from grace), it’s hard to imagine a more ripe environment for a Democratic revival.

Unfortunately, Fowler never recognized the virtue of Jeffersonian ideals – nor could she see past the failed Keynesian philosophy that has guided Democratic thinking over the past century (excluding the administrations of John F. Kennedy and Bill Clinton, of course).

The icing on the cake?

Alvin Greene – an unemployed, unknown military veteran (with a sex charge on his record) who didn’t hold any campaign events, raise money or launch a website, but somehow managed to defeat a former four-term state lawmaker in the Democratic primary for the U.S. Senate.

“Unfortunately, Fowler never recognized the virtue of Jeffersonian ideals”

Was Jefferson a fiscal conservative? Is that why he spent so much money on the Louisiana Purchase and expanded Presidential and governmental power so immensely?

The word “impotent” comes to mind when one thinks of Fowler.

In recent years (post-Harpootlian) the success-mark of the SCDP chairmanship has not been measured by how many elections are won but by how well you do with putting on the presidential primary.

With that said, from pure managerial, vision, and public relations standpoints, it would seem that Joe Erwin was lightyears ahead of Carol Fowler (even though Erwin himself didn’t get any big wins under his belt).

One would think that if Fowler got her act together and gave off the appearances that she was playing a role in a Sheheen victory, that would help her lay claim to a successful chairmanship and prove her detractors wrong.

Fowler: Don’t let the door hit you in the ass!

We were better off, as a party, with Erwin (and Harpootlian for that matter) and will be better off in the future with anyone but you.

..Due to the Alvin Greene deal, you actually succeeded in taking us BACKWARDS…

“Jeffersonian ideals”. Does that mean Sally Hemings?

She was only in the position of Chair because of her marital status. I think this signals the end for Don Fowler as much as it does for his wife.

I’m upset as a Republican. While our party has plenty of problems, at least we didn’t have Carol Fowler. She was quite amusing! Hopefully Karen Floyd will follow suit and not seek another term.

Carol Fuck Up Fowler….in place because she has the goods on some very powerful people….including husband Don….brought down by a humble Negro resident of SC…………..just wonderful irony.

Hey Jesse and Jimmy…..who is the next Chair……Hilary 2012.

Unfortunately Green’s primary victory means democrat money won’t be flowing in to S.C. to put up a (fake) fight against DeMint.

CNSYD- men have to get it. You know that. Let’s go back to the caveman and go over all the famous men who have screwed around and erase and belittle all progress made throughout history that was made in spite of their “getting it” off the official reservation. Make sure you include Dr. King.
Maybe we can blame women AND thank women for all the progress made in spite of all the “short comings” of men who are, in fact, flawed just like you. Note to historians – Jefferson screwed around AND was a brilliant man who changed history for billions of people.

I think, implicitly though not explicitly meaning Thomas, one will find that ’twas Thomas’ brother’s dalliance with Sally Hemmings that bore fruit.

Of course Billy Carter was the smarter one.

Bobby, I was there, son, when Jefferson bought that hunk of land from France for $3 million. Sure, I was but a young lad in 1803, but I could read the papers and when I read about that purchase, I remember thinking to myself, “Land sakes, that president of ours took the Frogs but good!”

And Mr. CNSYD? You, sir, are simply beyond redemption. Why, I remember you writing something recently about how all these fine folks on this here blog should be bowing down and praising you for your service to the country, protecting it from the Soviet Union (whatever that is). Sir, it is not becoming of a warrior to crave the thanks of those he serves. Just do your job and be quiet. You shame all of us who served.
