By FITSNews || Lexington County, S.C. Republicans are holding a meeting Thursday to figure out what – if anything – to do with S.C. Senator Jake Knotts, whose ethnic slur against S.C. Rep. Nikki Haley has received significant national airplay
Last week, Knotts referred to Haley as a “raghead” on a local internet talk show – a remark which resulted in what county party chairman Rich Bolen calls a “media/political frenzy.”
Anyway, here’s Bolen’s email announcing the meeting:

Dear Republicans (and other interested parties),
This email is to inform you that there has been a call by the Executive Committee for a special meeting of the Executive Committee for the limited purpose of discussing the current media/political frenzy that has developed around the comments recently made by State Senator Jake Knotts. At this meeting the EC will have an opportunity to voice their opinions and decide what if anything the party should do in response to this situation. While this is a public meeting in the interests of maintaining order and moving the meeting to a prompt conclusion we will not be taking public comments. Only elected members of the Executive Committee will be allowed to participate in the discussion. If you would like to comment you should contact your precinct officers and they can relay your sentiments to the EC.
The meeting will be held at our usual location at the County Council Chambers on the 2nd floor of the Administration Building located behind the new Westbrook Courthouse at 7:00 pm.

So what’s the expectation here? A censure?
Back in January, Lexington County Republicans censured U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham for adopting a host of policy positions that “do not reflect a complete belief in the South Carolina Republican party platform and do not serve the interests of South Carolinians.”
In addition to possible repercussions from the state and local GOP, Knotts’ 2008 opponent – Katrina Shealy – has signaled her intention to run against him in 2012.

The entire Republican Party in this State is in shambles, nobody is going to pay attention to anything they (or a faction) says/does.
This will work out about like when they censured Mark Sanford — Big Whoop. Ooooo….had him just shakin’ in his boots, huh?
Until someone can head up the Republican Party in this State and do a half-way decent job, its just going to continue to disinegrate. All this BS right now should go right back on the Party leadership’s doorsteps.
As for Knotts being re-elected, as long as he doesn’t vote to make cock-fighting a felony, he’ll return back to his seat every time.

Those of you who are good speakers know that to maintain flow, sometimes you have to say something that is totally out of context. Knotts did not condemn Obama or any particular group of people. He only condemned one lady, and there is nothing wrong in that. The reason he mentioned Obama and other ethnic groups was only for maintain eloquence.
