John Spratt: Is This A Joke?

john spratt

By FITSNews || After wasting trillions of dollars on bailouts and deficit spending, President Barack Obama and his Congressional allies now want you to believe they’re serious about cutting government.  In fact, Obama is working with Democratic leaders in Congress to give them “an extra tool to enforce fiscal discipline” in upcoming budgets … well, assuming that the House Budget Committee (led by Rep. John Spratt) ever passes a budget.

If you’re thinking this sounds like a bunch of played-out malarkey, you’re right.

Nonetheless, Obama’s latest ploy is a budget gimmick called the “Reduce Unnecessary Spending Act of 2010,” and it’s being introduced in the House of Representatives by … wait for it … John Spratt.

Basically, all the bill does is give Obama expanded veto power over spending items that he doesn’t like … which of course operates under the fatally flawed assumption such items actually exist.

Anyway, Spratt – who is facing the electoral fight of his life – is hoping to portray the bill as part of a pattern of Democratic discipline with your dollars.

“Since taking the majority in January 2007, House Democrats have moved several measures to ratchet up fiscal discipline,” Spratt said.

Wait … what?  WHAT?!?!

Is this guy serious?

Since taking the majority, Democrats have actually put the country on a path to fiscal Armageddon, which when you stop and think about it makes them not that much different than Bush-era “Republicans.”

Fortunately Spratt is being challenged by an actual Republican in 2010, not a status quo RINO.

The most recent polling shows that John Spratt’s campaign for re-election is floundering. His consistently liberal voting record has finally caught up with him.

After years of profligate spending, no reasonable person will believe Spratt’s ‘fiscal discipline’ doublespeak.

So John Spratt proposes a bill with a true conservative idea–the line item veto, that offers more potential to reign in spending than any other single tool, especially considering the love of pork by Congress. Instead of hailing the bill, you attack the sponsor. Why? Is is because you are less interested in conservative politics than personal politics of destruction?

An ethical commentator evaluates the actions of people, judging people on their actions and not judging the actions based upon the person acting. You need to go back to school on this issue.

Spratt should be judged on his record as a whole. One good thing does not outweigh an overwhelming record of mistakes. But you can’t call that one good thing a mistake just because you don’t like him or his previous record. Shame on fits. Conservatives should hail this bill.

Parts of his district have an average voting age of 70 years old for crying out loud…as long as he keeps the transfer of what little wealth is left from the younger generations to old ones he’ll keep getting re-elected.

He could scream “I’m fiscally responsible!” for the rest of the cycle and half of his electorate will believe him…that’s just the way things work…stupid people voting for corrupt politicians…and there’s way more stupid people(or those wanting their “interests” protected even if it cause financial collapse) than those who are thinking and responsible.

Here is how moderate Spratt is, and these numbers can be found all over the web.. Open Congress . org for starters..

    Here are some quick facts….

    1) In the 2 years (2005 / 2006) preceding Nancy becoming speaker of the house. John voted 121 times in opposition to Nancy’s votes on similar bills. Since SHE appointed HIM in 07′ to the chair of the budget comm. John and Nancy Pelosi have had opposing opinions on the same bill that they each voted on a grand total of 9 (NINE) times as of from January 1st, 2007 – May 20th, 2010.

    2) The National Debt when Spratt was First sworn into office was 1.3 Trillion dollars. So from Andrew Jackson till Ronald Reagan (and several wars and depressions in between) it took all those years to accumulate 1.3 Trillion in national Debt. THIS YEAR ALONE…. We have exceeded that amount.

The National Debt has gone up 11 TRILLION Dollars since John took office in 83. So, do we blame the 5 Presidents or Do we actually point a finger at the man that has been the one constant through all these years… John Spratt

I don’t work for any retarded campaign, by the way. I’m simply a reader that was promised proof by a douche bag and I’m following up to see if the nutless wonder is going to make good on his promise to deliver evidence of an affair (real evidence).

If it’s true, it shows NH is bold faced liar – probably good to get that out now rather than after she’s elected. BTW – even if she picks up the primary vote . . . do you think the Dems will be kind on this affair thing – Sic Willie better come clean or this broad is going to get slaughtered by the Dems. If you’re a supporter . . . you should prefer a resolution now.

    Wow, that’s really rich.
What is going to be the thrust of Spratt’s 2010 campaign. He can’t run around spouting off about the Republicans are coming for your Social Security. He and Obama’s plan to strip Medicare and failure to deliver a COLA for SS has most of them with one foot in the poverty grave, so the elders among us say.
People are wise to “delivering the goods” back to the district. Spratt has taken credit for every dollar back to his district. Not once have I heard him talk aboiut all the tax increases and spending bills he voted for.
As I have said before, people are really aware of the spending, increased taxes and the growth in prices that inflation will bring as a result of the Obama-Spratt team.
And people are becoming aware of his health. Sad but true, the man may may be approaching the stage where it will be better to just let go.

I truly wish there was someone to debate on these issues, but I’ve never been able to find a person who labels himself conservative with both the brains and facts to back up their arguments; and most of the time they have neither. They repeat what they hear on Fox News and Rush Limbaugh; then come the Glen Beck parrots, and the rest just make things up as they go along, and stick their finger in their ears when anyone else tries to talk.

If they don’t like it its liberal, and if they like it, its conservative. If they want the Goverment to do it its Constitutional. If they don’t want the goverment to do it its Unconstitutional. In fact they don’t want the goverment to do anything, but the goverment is to blame when someone screws up, uless the party in power is Republican; in which case it must be Democrats falt. Of course if the Democrats are in power its their falt as well. Mix that with a large helping of hate and a dash of racism, and you have the modern conservative movement.

They just can’t admit that George Bush, Dick Cheney, Halliburton, and large corporations; with the help of the Republican Party; spent the last nine years rapeing this country, and as a result we’re broke and in recession. It would have been a depression, but Wall Street came to the rescue. “Hey George, give us a couple of hundred billion in bail out funds and we will prevent a Depression from happening.” They just had to milk that last few hundreds of billions from the Treasury in the last few month’s of Bush’s administration. After all it may be another eight years before they have another administration willing to roll over and watch them pillage the retirment funds of the average American, and shift Americas wealth into third world countries.

Well, damn, you had me going. I thought I was going to feel like some sullen reprobate before I finished reading your post. But, you just fizzled there at the end.

If you are going to bang on us conservatives, go full bore. I have listed below some of the accusations and name calling directed my way. Some I found to be very entertaining, some were meant to be vile and mean(but, I always considered the source):
You have the intelligence of a Neanderthal and the social graces of a horny chimp.
You would fart in church and then point at your mother.
You keep a Negro in your basement and only bring him out at night to do your dirty work.
Why do you not want to fund public schools.
Why do you hate all Mexican immigrants, you call them “illegal aliens?”
People that don’t like BHO are racists.
If you own a gun and a Bible, you should be on the “no fly” list.
Why do you want to take away Grandma’s Social Security and Medicare?
You think ketchup is a vegetable.
    etc…etc…

Just a few, if you need more, just let me know.
You can do better than the previous post.

By the way, George Bush was not my favorite Republican President.
Did not agree with his spending..ie..Prescription Drugs and TARP.
    His stance on Immigration.
Letting that murderer from Massachusetts write the education bill.
    Just a few…

I am sure you truly believe what you are saying, and that is OK. But, mindless repetition is not going to change history and make it true.
Both parties and most federal politicians of both parties share in the blame.
I don’t want more of the same; I want people in Washington who will see the need to control the spending and be fiscally responsible. Mr. Spratt, for me, is not that person.

Let’s see – Bush bails out the Banksters then swaggers back to Texas, leaving us with a $1.3 TRILLION deficit while the economy is tanking with 750,000 job losses in Jan. 2009.
Bush & Dick had no thoughts for the middle class & small businesses SUFFERING and trying to survive during Bush’s Great Recession – further exacerbated by the consequences of Bush’s DEregulation of Wall Street that led to the financial meltdown.

Pres. Obama enters and immediately proposes tax cuts for the middle class & small businesses and private sector JOBs to stimulate the economy and help those SUFFERING during Bush’s economic disaster! But Republicans called that funding “socialism” – and voted “no” – AFTER having given 2 UNFUNDED tax cuts to Billionaires and zillions in Corporate welfare during the Bush Error.

    Obviously, Republicans believe when a tree falls on a house leaving a gaping hole in the roof, homeowners should do nothing but SUFFER as the rain pours in. Just do nothing – because repairing the roof will cost money. {gasp!}

btw – during a recession, the government spends money to stimulate the economy. However, since Bush’s Great Recession is the WORST recession since the Great Depression, the economy is improving s-l-o-w-l-y – but IMPROVING – with no help from Republicans.

Here we have a post about Mulvaney versus Spratt in an upcoming Congressional election. The left wants to center the Conversation around George Bush. They can’t let go.
I would be more than happy if Mr.Spratt would center his campaign around the policies and misdeeds of the Bush Administration. And Joe you are right, they don’t want to open the conversation on President Bush and then have that in comparison as to where Mr. Obama is today with deficits and approval ratings.
I would love to see Mr. Spratt out on the stump with Mr. Obama in tow touting the perceived criminality of the Bush administration. Then Mr. Spratt and Mr. Obama could address the virtues of their last two years. A bigger deficit, ObamaCare that the country is rejecting, Cap and Trade that Spratt and Obama support, increased income taxes, support of amnesty for illegals, Treatment of terrorism, how swell the economy and unemployment numbers look,etc..etc..
It would be a campaign Strategy that the RNC would pay for.
