By FITSNews || The night before our founding editor was pressured into disclosing an “inappropriate physical relationship” with S.C. Rep. Nikki Haley last week, he received a text message from one of Haley’s wealthiest, most influential political donors.
“Pls no …” the message read.
A few minutes later, the donor sent him another text message.
“If you are being pushed into this, pls buy some time and ask for help from ur friends.”
Fast-forward five days to Friday, May 28, when the same man spoke with Folks regarding the steady drip of incriminating information concerning the affair – including text messages that hint at a cover-up by the Haley campaign as well as phone logs showing dozens of late night calls between Folks and Haley, some of them running for more than three hours or lasting until 5:00 a.m.
“I can and I will and I am asking you to taper it off and to leave some room for the average voter out there who’s not paying a whole lot of attention to it, to not read the story or hear that ‘yeah, this absolutely happened,’” the donor says to Folks.
He later asks Folks “to not fire everything you can – don’t fire all your guns.”
In exchange for Folks agreeing not to release any additional incriminating information regarding the affair, the donor offers to try and convince Haley’s campaign to stop the smear campaign that has been waged against Folks from the moment he acknowledged the relationship.
“If you could do that then I would absolutely go to them and say ‘I don’t know how much of this is, manufactured by y’all and how much of it is, you know, just sort of happening, but whatever y’all are doing, stop … and ask everybody that you’ve asked to say anything bad about Will just to completely back off,’” the donor says.
“If I can’t make it stop, at least I can ask them to stop – if you’ll not punch as hard as you can,” he says. “Just taper off some and if you’ll do that, I’ll go to them, and ask them to stop everything they have (been) a part of.”
The donor repeatedly tells Folks that “tapering off” is in his “self-interest” as well as his best financial interests.
“Anything you hold back on now – I’m serious, from a business standpoint, throw it in your book next year,” the donor tells Folks. “Hold something back and release it then, which would be a great financial move for you and your family.”
The donor repeatedly makes the case that a book detailing a physical relationship with Haley would be more valuable if she were a sitting governor as opposed to a gubernatorial candidate.
“Save it,” he says. “Save it and throw all this stuff you got in the book next year. You’ll have the sitting governor – which I think she will be if you were to taper off and leave some ambiguity there. Then you write a book or whatever and you throw out whatever else you held back and, you know, and then she’s still governor for three and a half years, and in so many ways it would be a really really really smart beneficial move for you.”
“You’re a master at thinking four or five moves down the chessboard,” the donor continues. “You’ve just got this golden, golden, golden opportunity to save some … to play it in a bigger way and a better way.”
Folks declined the donor’s offer.
“There’s really only one way (this) ends,” he says.
“But it’s in your best interests to end it another way, it really is,” the donor pleads.
In addition to this conversation, the Haley donor also asked several other individuals to call Folks on Haley’s behalf. At least two did.
Folks on Tuesday denied that he was deliberately “dribbling out” information about the affair.
“I’m releasing what I can, when I can,” he said Tuesday. “Given Rep. Haley’s denials and her invoking of legislative privilege to shield certain records, we’re making sure that all of our information – like the phone data we released last week – is bulletproof prior to releasing it into the public realm.”
Folks also said that he had no interest in cutting a deal – either with Haley or her political opponents.
“At this point my only objective in this process is restoring my credibility and the credibility of my website,” he said.
Folks declined to release the name of the donor, but has turned over documentation of the conversation – along with other exchanges with Haley supporters – to his attorneys.

When does Haley stop her denials of the obvious? Has she come clean to her husband yet? When did hubby know about the 2-3 hours long late night-early in the morning phone conversations with a single man who worked for her? Did he find it out when we did? Did these phone conversations coincide with Hubby’s Guard stints?
And most of all, what will Jenny Sanford do if and when the incriminating e-mails and other evidence is released showing Nikki to be a lying, unfaithful spouse like Mark was? Everyone realizes that if Jenny Sanford publicly pulls her support of Haley, or even comments on how disappointed she is in her, that it’s all over for Nikki, don’t ya’? (wink)

The only thing that speaks to his credibility now in this matter, is if what he alleged is true. It’s beginning to look more and more like it is true.
Once Nikki Haley finally confesses to the obvious (And BTW she is already pretty much confirming Will’s account by lying and stonewalling), it will be all about her, and Will will be way in the background on this. Until his book comes out, that is.
And since this will be the most famous (some might say “notorious”) thing that Folks has yet been involved in, his “credibility” on this one will have been cemented in political history.

The Haley people simply are trying to make it through next week’s primary. Do not expect ANY confession or attention to this from the Haley campaign before then or the run-off if there is one.
What has surprised me with this post today is that Folks appears to really have his mind set to follow this through to the end.
I do not know WHY he pursued this course but I do believe the Sanfraudians who mounted the pushback against him last week have only strenghtened his resolve.

Look, Mr. Folks, you might be enjoying your 15 minutes but everything sooner or later will come to an end. You have deliberately couched your allegations in legal innuendos, such as “inappropriate physical relationship”, in order to avoid the lawsuits that will inevitably come your way. TheRightMan – How does this story have “no legs” as you allege? Evidence has already been proffered by Folks that supports his allegation.
The text message transcripts and the phone records have both been confirmed as accurate (by the Haley campaign, no less). The text messages show that the Haley campaign (Pearson) lied when it said that there was no contact with Folks before his allegation was published. That’s a demonstrable lie, TRM, based on physical evidence.
Nikki Haley tried to deflect the story, not by denying it outright, but by implying that Folks was some nobody who worked for her for a short time. “He worked for me for a short time. I hardly knew him.” Then Folks put the lie to that by producing phone records that showed hundreds of phone contacts between the two, including a number of 2-3 hour late night – early morning conversations. So Haley had tendered a ludicrous lie.
Then she made it even more laughable by claiming that “Sure we talked on the phone. I work all the time, 24 hours. Ask anyone who knows me.” Hmmmm.
Then when she had the opportunity to show phone records of her own that shows all this “24 hour” worker bee activity – she releases the sound of crickets chirping.
Oh, this story has legs all right. And, if Jenny Sanford withdraws her support or expresses her disappointment or dismay, this story will have a “big skirt” as well.

I don’t think Sic is doing anything much to hurt Nikki. He didn’t put anything out this weekend and only put out some tiny little message today that some donor wants him to keep quiet until after the election, which is what I believe Sic really wants to do anyway. See he has told everyone all along that Nikki is his candidate and he really wants her to win. Ok so he was forced and blackmailed into this confession, but really hasn’t put out the “goods” to hurt Nikki and is still holding back any real solid proof that the inappropriate physical relationship occurred.(I know there is plenty of circumstantial evidence) But anything short of a picture with them doing the nasty can be explained away and she quite possibly ends up in the runoff and maybe even in the Governor’s mansion, which is what Sic has wanted all along. Now I believe they had IPR and I believe that the PI has the pictures to prove it, but I also believe that Sic is trying on some personal level to protect Nikki and still allow her the opportunity to carry her message all the way to the Governor’s mansion. Will Folks is a genius.
First of all, either this is 100 pct true or he knows he won’t get sued by Haley (otherwise it doesn’t get written in the first place). Then he releases enough info to raise reasonable doubt (maintaining his cred) but not enough to irreperably damage her candidacy.
Finally he sends a message (as WoW suggests) letting everybody with skin in the game know that he is holding all the cards.
BEAUTIFUL!
He also singlehandedly ruins the credibility of RedState.com along the way, which is no small feat.

Darling Nikki has run her course and there are only so many wacko Tea Party supporters out there that will turn a blind/deaf/dumb eye/ear/brain to her BS. I had an “air” she was a liar and a fraud before any of this whole infidelity mess came to the forefront. She’s just not genuine. She had a creditbility problem beforehand, IMO.

I love how the Nikki Haley apologists just glide past her lies like they are nothing – “I barely knew him.” – “I work all day, 24 hours.” – “We had no contact with Will Folks prior to him posting his allegations.”

Then when they’re done gliding by those, they glide past the fact that she had no trouble soliciting an endorsement from Jenny Sanford, her knowing full well what we’re now finding out about the validity of her “100% faithful” claim.

As with most of the “outed” politicians in the past few years, where there is smoke, there is probably fire. And this is a little more than smoke. The phone records show a few little flames about to break out.
During the Clinton impeachment hearings, Lindsey Graham said “where I come from, when a married man calls another woman in the middle of the night, nothing good is going to come out of that.” (Substitute married woman calls another man.)
Could it be that the 1 minute calls from WF were just hangups and signals for NH to call him?
Many people have said these calls were to her home phone — I thought we were told they were mostly to and from her cell phone.
For someone with as many people around her all day as NH would have, the middle of the night would be the only time she could have a “private” conversation that she did not want anyone to overhear. Several of the long ones were from out of town, presumably alone on business.
Let’s please get on with this. Give the people who were going to vote for NH in the primary (not me) a chance to study the other candidates and make an informed decision. Of course, these tea partiers probably don’t know what an informed decision is or they wouldn’t have been in favor of her to start with. Her website only addresses the things that are right down the tea party line.
There are three things that are critical in this state and she has addressed none of them adequately: Business recruitment from outside the state; the terrible education system, and JOBS (which is related to #1). The economy is in shambles, but if we put people back to work on new jobs that would solve a lot of the problem with the increase in tax revenue and decrease in various benefits being paid to the unemployed.
She’s an accountant – naturally she would go for audits. But such audits can be manipulated, just as they have probably been for years. That seems to be one of her major thrusts. (Ooops.) Then she talks about accountability and transparency. REALLY??? I guess it’s “don’t do as I do, do as I say do.” Typical politician. Don’t need any of that in charge of the state.
The last thing we need for another 8 years is a female version of Mark Sanford. Lord help us!
WF – if you have anything else give it up — if not, please go away and leave the process alone.
I’m voting for the only one in the race with the experience, intelligence and integrity to lead the state out of the current mess and restore some of its dignity – Henry McMaster. Look at his record as AG and you will see.

Whippersnapper – What is IMAGINARY about text message transcripts and Verizon phone records? Please explain.
The campaign and Haley herself did not claim that any of this was “IMAGINARY.” In fact they verified that the records were legitimate and attempted to “explain” them.
It’s their explanations that are proving to be IMAGINARY as they continue to lie and stonewall re Folks’ allegation. Folks, on the other hand, has released physical evidence (not IMAGINARY stuff) that supports his side of the allegation.
If you think calling something IMAGINARY makes it so, you’re imagining things.

Ohh my gosh. This has really gotten sad. I thought you would produce a better manufactured piece of evidence then this crap.
Now your claim is that the evidence that was hanging over your head like a sword and like a swicthblade being shoved in your face, WAS YOUR VERY OWN PHONE AND TEXT MESSAGES WHICH YOU RELEASED!
That is extremely lame to say the least. Since they prove absolutely nothing and certainly are not PHYSICAL evidence of an affair.
In fact the only way your phone records, or your texts become relevant at all is when YOU came out and said you had a physical relationship, since they prove nothing without someone corroborating them.
And just where is this diabolical smear campaign you have concocted? All we have heard is the TRUTH about your past activities, your lies, your pleading guilty, your conviction for assaulting a women, your admission in 2008 that you would love to have an affair with Haley, this isn’t an attack, these are simple truths anyone can discover about you.
You’ve made one HUGE mistake though, you claimed you were pushed because physical evidence was in the hands of the media and they were holding it over you like a sword, forcing you out, BUT we still haven’t been told what that evidence is and no member of the media has revealed it. At this point I am confident in saying you concocted that entire portion of the story to make yourself seem sympathetic. Unless you came forward with some REAL evidence that they media possessed that they confronted you with, I’ll call Bull-hit on that claim.

Hey Paris Salin. I got to tell you I find your posts very curious. You repeatedly have obsessed over the 2-3 statements from Haley regarding Folks for the last week, THE SAME EXACT QUOTES WILL FOLKS HAS OBSESSED ABOUT IN HIS COMMENTARIES on this blog.
Can you explain your relationship to Mr. Folks?
Or could you explain why you feel the need to keep obsessing over her short, dismissive comments as being some huge issue, even though this blog owner puts them in each of his posts at the top.
I find it interesting that anyone would spend one minute out of their day, repeatedly and repeatedly repeating the same argument Folks has made and repeatedly obsessing over three words by Haley as if she is the main source of your obsession.
I have counted over a dozen posts of your where you referenced her three words, why the obsession with her simple subjective comment that has ZERO meaning in terms of real evidence.

Pops, I hate to say it because it was sort of fun exposing you as the Nikki Haley bootlicker that you apparently are (stand in line, Pops), but you’re really not very bright if your last post is any indication.
These records are not “his own” (Will Folks’). They are third party records (transcripts and phone bills) that have been acknowledged as accurate by Haley and her campaign.
Will you point out where anyone from Haley’s camp has questioned the veracity of the two pieces of evidence that Folks has put out (the text messages, the phone records)?
Find one credible source from the Haley side (mainstream news account, official campaign statement, etc.) that questions the records (not what they may mean, but the fact that they are accurate), and I’ll apologize for stating the obvious about you in the first paragraph.

I don’t think Willy is necessarily finished. If my analysis of this situation is correct, his most ardent followers will turn out to be those who are criticizing him in the strongest terms. They love the sleaze and it it up. I wouldn’t be surprised, for example, if they had this page bookmarked and updated it every hour on the hour, almost 24/7. OK. That’s an admission of my own behavior, but I’m not criticizing anyone. I’m actually thankful for the entertainment and glad that Nikki called him at all hours of the night to work him hard. I love it. If Nikki actually makes it into the Governor’s mansion, I hope she’ll resume to have midnight conversations with Folks. Amp it up is what I say. I’d love it if Nikki and Will went on a trip to Argentina. I’d just love it.

If you have seen these so called phone records, please post them or give me a link to them so we can all see the evidence. As of today, Folks has not provided the phone records to anyone who has provided them to the public. No press organization has found them reliable enough to publish them. NONE!
Have you seen them? I am not even talking about the whole 4 1/2 years, but just the pages for 2007, when he vaguely claims a relationship took place.
In addition, the only real important information he should provide is the dates, times and locations these physical relations took place.
But he won’t do it, because he failed in getting Haley to release her records, so he knows he has to be vague in order to not be caught in another lie.
Typical of people who are lying, they talk in generalities because specifics get them in trouble. That’s why all we get is he touched her sometime in 2007, because if he gets specific, he can then be checked against the records.

Pops – Obviously you are very confused. What Folks released were the Verizon phone records from the time in question. Do you think he just typed some stuff up, or made it up, and told people these were the phone records? And then all of the media reported on the phone records that Will made up just because he said he had them, the Washington Post, AP, NPR? Do you think they reported that the records were released because Folks said he had them squirreled away at home in his basement? The records were released by Folks to the media. They saw them, they reported on them.
He released the phone records to the press. The Verizon phone records of the calls to and from his phone from those dates. If they were phony (like you are seeming to allege here), why didn’t the candidate demand to see them for examination? That seems like a normal logical thing to do, especially when you’ve already said that Folks is lying about an affair.
But she didn’t. She EXPLAINED the late calls in the VERIZON PHONE RECORDS that Folks released to the press.
You really have comprehension issues, don’t you?

To these phone records, Ms. Haley’s explained that she works her staff hard—24/7. Then, when she was asked to release her own records, she cited legislative exemption from Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests and said that she was not going to “waste any energy on this” [accusation].
While Folks hasn’t actually proven the affair yet, the evidence he provided leaves a lot of questions unanswered. I’m not going to say Haley committed adultery. The jury is still out on that. On the other hand, I think it’s somewhat odd even for a politician to require work at the odd hours she called Folks. Furthermore, the only evidence we have so far suggests that her calls were only directed to Folks at those hours during the time frame in question. If she wants to set the record straight for some folks (pun intended), she’ll have to provide her own evidence. Maybe she’s telling the truth, but if she wants to live up to her principles of transparency, she needs to come clean.

All the media has said is Will Folks provided them phone records which he claims they show communications, NO NEWS OUTLET HAS REPORTED THEY HAVE CONFIRMED HIS STORY THAT THESE RECORDS ARE ACCURATE – NOT ONE!
You seem to be just as obsessed as Will Folks in demanding Haley provide you information when its not her responsibility. He made the claim, now he needs to prove it.
Anyone can make any claim, you could say folks shot a man in Reno just to watch him die..Or you could say Will Folks assaulted a women and was convicted. Its not then up to Will Folks to prove it isn’t true, its up to the person making the claim to prove it.
For instance, Folks admitted the assault in court under oath and the proceedings results were published in reliable news outlets.
So far, you can’t even get anyone to believe your phone records are accurate enough to publish.

Some of the contestants in this game show/freak show have been propped up in front of the world against their “WIL”.
They are educated (as the world goes, ha), but have not taken the time to exercise good judgement. If we are to think logically about the matter(s), should we not take 2 steps back and ask a few questions?
1. Would Haley continue to “hold out” till after her apparent victory, only to have the “truth” come out once she is sworn in? Allow me to answer for us, “NO”.
2. Does it seem to make sense that this blogger has more to gain by having brought this to the public, as opposed to keeping the matter private? Allw me to answer for us, “YES”.
I am not a betting man, but if you pressed me to weigh in without all the “facts”, I would have to come down on the side with Haley.
I certainly will not allow a blog to sway me one way or the other, and don’t accept this as the gospel. I would say it’s entertainment at best, but certainly not journalism or news.

Pops – I am going to “put up,” as you put it, and tell you a bit how journalism works.
Let’s say that you decide to claim that you had an affair with a prominent politician. You go to the local newspaper and tell them, “I, Pops, had an affair with (insert local politician name here).”
The first question the reporter will ask is, “Where’s your proof?” You must then show them something, or they will politely (or not so politely) show you the door. There will not be a story published just because Pops said this happened.
However, if you tell them this (say, you are a locally famous person who writes it on your political blog that has some notoriety) – they may well write a story just about the fact that you made this claim, but they will then ask you as followup, “Do You Have Any Proof?” If you don’t, that’ the end of it. That’s a He Said, She Responded story. The End.
However, as what happened in this case, you show them some proof of your allegation, say, phone records, text transcripts, e-mails, etc. that can be corroborated (say a phone bill from Verizon, a call to the campaign of the person you’re alleging had an affair with you), then they will publish the story and will note the evidence you offered, what the evidence showed, and what the other side’s response was. They will also assign someone to stay on the story and get to the bottom of this. That is where we are today. This is still a story.
All of the first two things happened and stories were written or broadcast by the AP, by NPR, by the Washington Post, Miami Herald, and on and on – last Monday and Tuesday. Look it up. Google “Nikki Haley Will Folks” Hundreds of stories will pop up.
If Will had not offered any corroborating evidence, none of these stories would have been written beyond maybe “Prominent Blogger Alleges Affair With Prominent Politician.”
Yes, those stories were written too. But, “Folks Releases Phone Records, Haley Campaign Verifies That They Are Accurate Records, Responds” – type stories have been written as well. Look it up. See if the AP, NPR, Washington Post, and others have both stories out there.
That’s because Folks showed someone at AP the evidence so AP put it out on the wire. No evidence, no story. Try it yourself sometime.
