Scott Surges In New Poll

By FITSNews || S.C. Rep. Tim Scott has surged ahead of the competition in a crowded race for the S.C. first congressional district seat, according to a new poll released this week.

The poll – conducted by National Research on behalf of the S.C. Club for Growth – shows Scott receiving 30 percent of the vote compared to 10 percent for Columbia lobbyist Carroll A. “Tumpy” Campbell III and 9 percent apiece for Charleston attorney Paul Thurmond and accountant Clark Parker.  Five other contenders were also measuring support in the single digits.

In perhaps the best news for Scott’s campaign, however, the new poll shows him easily outdistancing his top two opponents in a runoff eletion – which would take place on June 22 if no candidate receives 50 percent of the vote in the primary election on June 8.

For example, Scott enjoys a commanding 53-28 percent lead over Campbell and a 55-19 percent lead over Thurmond in competing runoff scenarios.

If elected, Scott would become the only African-American Republican in Congress.  Campbell, meanwhile, has been a member of a whites-only County Club in Columbia, S.C.

Talk about “change” versus the “good ole boys …”

Surging in the polls? He better watch out or you’ll be claiming to have engaged in extra-marital affair with him, too. Bwahahahahahaha.

It is Paul Thurmond, not Paul Campbell.

“Charleston attorney Paul Campbell” I did not know that Paul Campbell was in the race. Perhaps you meant Paul Thurmond. I understand that your mind is wandering these days, but let’s get back on your game.

Funny how a bought and paid for poll by Club for Growth (who happens to be endorsing Scott) turns up on Will’s web site who happens to be funded by the Mace Group who also does Tim Scott’s web site. The only one missing in this equation is…..where’s Nikki?

His ads are hilarious…whoever is in charge of producing them believes the candidate should flap his hands around with every syllable he utters, including when he says his name. It is pathetic.
ALL the Republican candidates gesture a lot, like Judy Gatson on WIS, but the hand flapping of Mr. Scott reaches absurdity.

Hey, over paid consultants, NORMAL people gesture to emphasize a point, not to indicate their mouth is moving!!

Hands down – Scott wins the debate I saw a couple of days ago where Andy Savage was moderating. First one to respond to question – (doesn’t look around first to see how opponents are reacting) Quick to answer (doesn’t have to think about his answer). You go – Scott How do I get involved in your campaign?

I’d never heard of this site before and likely would never have, if not for the CNN link to the site over the Haley Gate crap. I thought I going to see an “inside SC politics” blog, instead just lame articles written by hacks. The only interesting articles were the Haley-Gate articles, but know it is clear to me that this talentless team is merely using those in an attempt to prolong their already too long 15 minutes.

Go back to obscurity . . . I’m sure you’re way better there!

I’ve met Scott, know his positions on important issues, and plan to vote for him. All my friends intend to do the same.

Who I will NOT vote for is that snob, condescending SOB Paul Thurmond, who acts like the Queen of Sheba at County Council meetings.

Even when one speaks with Thurmond on the phone one is given the impression that you are a nobody.

    Go Tim Scott !!!

Tim Scott is part of the ‘good ole boys’ more than 12 years in elected office and has no record to show for it other than a little cash from some Charleston County developers who believe in the ‘pay to play’ method of politics. The SC Ethics commission will soon reveal how this sceme worked. Funny how Tim Scott has never reported any free things given to him as a member of Charleston County Council or the State House. He must be the only elected official that never received a gift like tickets to the Hilton Head Golf Tournament, Spoleto, Wildlife Expo, USC football tickets, receptions, or concerts. Interesting… I guess he is one of the ‘good ole boys!’

Tim Scott is like many people I interviewed over the years.. If he was present when something happened he claimed credit for it regardless of his actual participation. I believe Tim wil make the playoffs.. but it will end there.. the RNC and the local establishment folks can’t push him across the finish line.

Paul Thurmond is the most honest man I know. If you don’t like him on the issues, so be it. But do believe that Thurmond’s level of integrity of the utmost. Vote for Thurmond because he cannot be bought and will respectfully and forthrightly represent this district.

Sending a black republican to Washington is a fine concept. Unfortunately, Tim Scott is not the right man for the job. If you have seen him in person, you already know this.

I disagree. If you have met Tim Scott in person you would know he IS the right person for the job. I’m not saying Paul Thurmond isn’t a good guy; it’s just that Tim Scott knows the issues and has a record of being a conservative. Paul might be a good candidate one day, but he needs a little more experience before he can prove he has something else to offer than his daddy’s name.

I’m not a political talking head, just a working guy from Myrtle Beach and I’m voting for Tim Scott and so is most (at least that is what they say) of my neighbors in my subdivision. Mr. Scott is not perfect, by any means, but Campbell?, Thurmond?, no way Jose. We are very tired of the status quo and it is time to flush the old…both democrat and republican. An earlier comment called Tim a RINO, we can only hope this is the case!

Its sad that FITSWEWS has sold out to the Tim Scott Campaign… LOOOOOONG ago!!!!

You forget to mention that while conducting the poll the pollerters were telling people that Candidates like Ken Glasson and Larry Kobroksy have dropped out of the race. Your one sided views are well known, but at least you used to be FITS against everyone… SAD that you have sold out and now its FITSNEWS AND TIM SCOTT…

I have noticed Tim Scott does not place his “signs” where all the others are. Rick Quinn is running for an Office again, and his signs are placed in People’s yards. He went from Door to Door and shakes everybody’s hand. Then they allow him to place his sign. They are ready to vote for him.

All the people Rick Quinn is running against have placed their signs in weedy overgrown fields where no-one will complain. No one asks, they didn’t get permission placing them. Non of Rick’s signs are in abandoned lots like the Competitors of Honorable Tim Scott. They running a Grass Roots campaign, different from the others.

Whoever would vote for this turtle-headed slimeball doesn’t know him or they would eat a green fly before pulling the lever for this career politician.
Let’s see; 14 years on the local government level, a couple in the State House, an aborted run for Lite Gov. and now a campaign for the seat in the first Congressional district. He would be more of the same in Washington as he is the epitome of it being “all about me.”
I really could not care less about his sexuality as others are attacking him on this front but I hear he has a strong affinity for Latinos. I don’t believe he could be objective in the discussion on immigration which is an issue that has to be addressed.
He is a real jerk and those that believe otherwise or dead wrong. Vote Scott and you get a lying hypocrite who will stoop at nothing to get what he wants. Not his constituents mind you, but what will benefit him. He is as phoney as they come.

Isn’t it ironic that Club for Growth, who is called out on Scott’s website, and who has contributed 24 separate times to Scott as posted on the Federal Election Commission website through March 31, 2010, has Scott leading in the polls. As an fyi, on the FEC site there are 244 individual itemized contributors, so Club for Growth represented 10% of the contributors, or $17,450, and is Scott’s largest contributor.

You realize of course that the Club for Growth does not give contributions to candidates directly, but rather the individual members decide on their own to send contributions. Also, word on the street is that other campaigns have similar poll numbers…but that’s just the word on the street.

A special thanks to all the Libs here for showcasing their limited intelligence, innuendo, and hypocrisy. Don’t you all have a bookburning or antimilitary protest to go to? After all Monday is Memorial Day and we all know how much fascist trash like you hate our soldiers. Or maybe you could start collecting for the next Clinton Defense Fund, now that President Perv has been busted for offering a bribe to Sestak. C’mon now, forego that extra cup of latte at Starbucks and that third joint of the evening…Bill Clinton needs your help. And please, act on your supposed environmental concerns and go the Gulf coast and help in the oil cleanup; after all, it looks like Obama either doesn’t have a clue or just can’t take time out from his busy schedule of hoops, McCartney, and golf. After that, get your fellow travelers together and go to Cuba and don’t come back.
