STATEMENT FROM NANCY MACE, CO-OWNER AND PRESIDENT OF FITSNEWS.COM REGARDING THE WILL FOLKS/ NIKKI HALEY STORY

Circumstances beyond his control compelled our founding editor, Will Folks, to address a personal matter Monday morning on FITSNews.com. He has nothing to add to his comments regarding this matter and will not be conducting any further interviews on the subject.
As the state of South Carolina’s premier political news and opinion website, FITSNews.com will continue to do its job of speaking the truth on behalf of the citizens and taxpayers of the Palmetto state.
A brief point of clarification is obviously in order here. In his post addressing this issue earlier today, our founding editor stated that he would not be “granting any additional interviews to members of the media beyond what (he had) already been compelled to confirm.”
This is a reference to an interview that Sic conducted prior to the publication of his story with Jim Davenport of the Associated Press, one of several reporters who had contacted him about the rumors in the weeks leading up to this story breaking.
We obviously have no control over the release of that information.

Having an affair is considered a positive in South Carolina. This is why Mark Sanford was not impeached. Having said that, Will Folks is clearly a douche-bag for trying to smear Haley by turning a positive into a negative. Will has been supporting Haley in the Republican primary. Almost to the extent that it seemed as if he was on the payroll.
Either he has been lying this whole time and was planning to drop this bomb two weeks before the primary, or he was trying to prevent this from dragging out further. I have a hard time believing all of his posts re: the Republian primary over the last six months were a set-up.

I can see this being a very painful exercise for Will. I just wish Hailey woudl come forward, admit it and move on. Really, because decent people do care. If having an affair is a positive in SC, then, taxes and big government are the least of our worries. Haley does not deserve public office and cannot be trusted. Folks and this site have also forfeited all of their credibility.
Reporting the truth???? You were willing to sit back and watch this state elect a person, who was just another Sanford!!! Why didn’t you report the truth before someone else forced you to?? If Haley had been elected, how long would it have been before this came out? Was this site hoping to benefit financially by outing her after the election? Was this site willing to watch the Republican Party and the people of South Carolina go through the Sanford mess all over again? Was this site willing to watch as SC once again became a national laughing stock. I think the answer is obviously yes, and it just goes to show you, you can’t trust people without moral character.

Mr. Folks made an accusation, and Mrs. Haley has flat out denied it. Mr. Folks has offered up zero evidence and refuses to comment further. IMO, Mrs. Haley stands innocent until proven guilty, and if Mr. Folks is lying she should pursue a libel / slander suit.
I’m trying to stay objective on this, but on the face value it seems like nothing more than a “drive-by” hit piece that defies logic.

I’m tired of society making it seem like affairs are the actions of total scum. We know that all humans are tempted in different ways.
Almost just as importantly though, I’m tired of everyone who thinks that we should keep our children sheltered from this. Children need to be exposed to how the real world is. No one is perfect, and it is quite common that parents deal with such issues.
Teach your children early so they are not maladjusted when they grow up.

Unless she is somehow uber-photogenic and he is the most un-photogenic man in God’s creation, she wouldn’t touch him with a ten foot pole wrapped in MRSA-strength antiseptic soaked rags.

A friend in Charleston has a lawyer friend who’s been contacted by Haley’s husband. They apparently plan to go forward with a suit of slander and defamation against Mr. Folks and Fitsnews. It’s all “friend of a friend” stuff, sure, and I’m not sure as to the veracity of any of it, but this guys a dialed in professional who knows the state. This could get very messy. A journalist with a sordid past having to admit to outright lying and retracting his own direct statement will destroy a career. If Mr. Folks was telling the truth he better have something. If he lied, he could be in a real fix.

What’s interesting is that this website and Folks have invited the media to do their “due diligence” on this story. Will wasn’t going to kiss and tell. Good? Bad? Oh well, He probably wrestled with this quite a while. Most likely didn’t say anything sooner because he didn’t want to hurt the family.
He said something about the truth is going to surface, I’ve heard some rumors to that effect as well. Will has been steadfast in his support for Nikki. He wouldn’t lie about something so devastating. He wouldn’t put himself in a position to be sued for slander. He isn’t stupid. I just wonder how many others will come out with similar stories.
For the sake of SC, I hope this doesn’t turn into a Tiger Woods story! I wish the Haley family peace and hope the children don’t suffer too greatly through this ordeal. While Haley has never been on my radar, I still hope the innocents are protected. The press will have a field day with this.

Why do so many people on this site keep referring to cheating on your spouse as a “part of human nature”? Maybe I live in a sheltered world, but I have been married for over 20 years and couldn’t imagine EVER cheating on my wife or her cheating on me. People keep saying that “everyone has their temptations”…Does that make it right? I find it to be a great weakness and flaw in a persons character to think these tings are acceptable behavior.
If this story is true then Nikki should step down, and spend the rest of her life trying to make it up to her family. If it is false, then she should stop at nothing to ruin Will Folk’s career and sue him for defamation. The sad thing to me is that whether this is true or not, Nikki’s husband will always have this in the back of his mind and will most definitely be a scar that may not heal for quite some time.
I’m not into politics, because the people who run are usually doing so to benefeit themselves, so I have never heard of Will Folks until yesterday. But what I do know is that if he has known this all along, then he should have come out with it long ago, otherwise it looks like a guy trying to make a name for himself by defaming someone else and that is not right. It is impossible to believe a backstabbing blogger with a criminal record, willing to destroy an entire family, without any evidence to support his claim. Not only that, but Folks only said he had an “inappropriate physical relationship”; what does that mean? For all we know, that could mean he tried to kiss Haley and she slapped him. Folks never even said there was a consensual sexual relationship, but everyone is jumping to conclusions prematurely. For all we know, both Folks and Haley could be telling the truth. It is obvious this is a fake controversy intended to distract attention from the real issues in the campaign and Haley’s qualifications. There is no evidence Folks was coerced into any of his daily drip of rumor and innuendo. This is clearly politically motivated and timed to hurt Haley. Folks lied when he said he would have nothing else to say about this. The only true thing Will has said is that he has an insatiable lust for attention.
