Today’s Tuneage: The Pumpkins

By FITSNews || While the hippies were grooving to the Grateful Dead and the Kappa Alphas were “turning it up” to Lynyrd Skynyrd (both awesome bands), our college years were spent rocking out to the Smashing Pumpkins.

In fact, Pumpkins’ singer/ songwriter/ guitarist Billy Corgan was the inspiration for our founding editor’s decision to join a band … which come to think of it wasn’t the brightest career move he ever made.

Anyway, this track is entitled “Geek U.S.A.,” and while not as famous as some of the other singles off of the Pumpkins’ breakthrough Siamese Dream album, it is generally regarded as Corgan’s greatest guitar solo – as well as drummer Jimmy Chamberlain’s masterpiece.

Monster Magnet – Negasonic Teenage Warhead
Yeasayer – Ambling Alp
Owl City – Hot Air Balloon
