Crist Running As Independent In Florida

crist

By FITSNews || After the prospect was discussed eleventy kabillion times in eleventy kabillion articles by Washington Post blogger Chris Cillizza, the “suspense” is finally over.  Liberal Republican Gov. Charlie Crist of Florida is giving up his bid for the Sunshine State’s GOP Senate nomination to run as an independent.

Seriously, people … this news is about as surprising as the Daytona Beach tide tables, even after Crist said dozens of times (and as recently as three weeks ago) that he would “never” run as an independent.

Wait … his lips were moving all those times when he said that, right? Right …

Democrats (a.k.a. socialists) will obviously spin Crist’s departure as a sign that the GOP is becoming a fringe party, while Republicans (a.k.a. Democrats) will spin it as a sign of the party’s return to Republican roots as well as an act of desperation on Crist’s part.  Either way, Crist’s “independent” bid will provide an interesting breakdown of ideological affiliation – and will no doubt be watched closely as candidates across the country attempt to navigate the nation’s changing political landscape.

According to the latest Rasmussen Reports poll, Republican Marco Rubio (who we’re not entirely sold on, incidentally) leads with 37 percent of the vote, with Crist and likely Democratic nominee Kendrick Meek scoring 30 percent and 22 percent, respectively.

The most recent Rasmussen GOP poll showed Crist trailing Rubio by a 57-28 percent margin in the battle for the GOP nod.

Oh, and for those of you who think we’re chastising Cillizza “too vehemently,” we’re not.  His website “The Fix” is indispensable political reading, as are his daily e-blasts, which we would strongly recommend if you want to keep your finger on the nation’s political pulse.

In the Upstate you can count on Bobby Inglis going this way if he loses.

Next will be McCain who is being fried currently but if he loses can flip flop right back into the Senate seat.

Watch Mitch McConnel tap dance around any negative comments as he will have to try and get those votes back in the boat later.

I say post those Ukranian parliment egg tossing pictures as our DC future.

Rubio is being pushed as some kind of Libertarian.Which I have seen no proof of.I think most would make a pretty quick assessment that he is not. What he will be is the male version of Sarah Palin.Which is the type of person to be next elected president.Lots of fake Liberty talk and still promoting Obama,Bush policies.Sorry people there are too many neocon robots among us for me to see us ever getting out of this…..God,I hope I am wrong.

I know they’ve already been sending money to Crist (http://www.countryfirstpac.com/candidate/default.aspx) but I wonder if Gaham and McCain will continue to send him money now that he’s an independent.

McCain MIGHT be defeated in his upcoming primary, but he cannot run as an independent, because the deadline to file has already passed.

SIC, exactly what is your hesitation on Rubio. He certainly talks the talk of your philosophy.
