By FITSNews || Because we literally can’t do anything right (or original) in the Palmetto State, officials at the S.C. Department of Parks Recreation and Tourism have basically ripped off the tourism website of our neighbors to the north.
First, take a look at North Carolina’s official tourism site, VisitNC.com:

Now, here’s South Carolina’s “new” official site, DiscoverSouthCarolina.com:

Nice, huh?
South Carolina’s website – which sure looks like a blog template to us – was designed by the Arkansas-based firm Aristotle Web Design in conjunction with The Bounce Agency, a Greenville, S.C.-based advertising firm.
Yeah … nice work guys.
Needless to say, FITS is doing some digging into SC PRT’s contracts with both firms …

Dig baby dig. I do love how well FITS does the digging. Yall can dig around up here in Chesterfield/Marlboro counties all you like, though the politcos might not like it much. But I’m guessing FITS is more than used to that.

Both are equally ugly. And equally dated.

We cant even get a local company to make the website? They had it done in AR, that is sickening. With the economy the way it is you would think they would at least use companies in our state.

Wait a second….now if the two states would actually WORK together and get 2 websites for the price of one…then ok..!? And Mr. Carter is right about getting a SC firm to do the website design.
MATTER OF FACT….why can we not get some COLLEGE Student competition between USC Innovista and Clemson SCRA and SC State Step Show and the CofC Media Arts Students to see just what TAXPAYER lottery education can DO…!?!
Talk about a question for the candidates running for election..!?
Heck, what about all that SC-ETV bandwidth that was raffled….what have we got to show for that…!?!
Grow fangs…FITS

No one wants to draw attention in South Carolina. We’re all evil, mafia. Nothing ever comes out of SC on the “Creative” side.
Everyone feels guilty, and don’t want to get caught. That’s why they never try drawing attention in South Carolina.

Ditto to the comments by Another Opinion, but look into the upstate counties as well. This is the next coming scam pulled on taxpayers. We are told that tourism is the saving grace for the counties. Build it (with tax dollars) and they will come. Tourism proponents brag about it being self sustaining, bringing jobs, and basically being the greatest thing since sliced bread. In the upstate counties, unemployment and foreclosures are at an all time high. Whose going to be spending this money that doesn’t exist? Also, since when is cleaning motel rooms and being a wait person high paying? They also tell us what a great return on the money they receive, such as a 5:1 return. In Anderson county they brag that even in a bad economy they are going to spend 3/4 of a million dollars on ballfields so they can host more tournaments, bring more tourists, more jobs, etc, etc,. Huh, and duh? How about a refund to taxpayers? I know the answer as well as the rest of you. Thanks for the report FITS. Keep digging. There’s gold in them thar’ hills!

The home page is a bit similar, but the NC site is so much better when you get down into the details. You can imitate a design, but the differences break down as you start to dig. Fonts, styles, functionality, etc are all SO much better on the NC site.
