By FITSNews || (Former?) S.C. First Lady Jenny Sanford is dating again – one month after she was granted a divorce from her cheating husband, S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford.
FITS spoke with several sources who saw the First Lady at the Masters’ golf tournament in Augusta, Georgia last weekend, although only one of those sources indicated that she was “with someone.” The man is apparently a neighbor of the First Lady on Sullivans Island, S.C., where she is maintaining a residence with her and the governor’s four sons.
WLTX TV-19 (CBS – Columbia) is reporting that the man is from Augusta.
TONE-DEAFNESS IN USC TRUSTEE RACE
We rarely read La Liberbad (a.k.a. The Greenville News), but the paper actually had a decent story Sunday about legislative elections to the University of South Carolina Board of Trustees – which will take place this week in Columbia. Obviously, that story ran on the same day that La Socialista (a.k.a. The State newspaper) broke it off on USC for its latest Innovista-related shenanigans.
Anyway, there was an interesting quote in the News story from Mack I. Whittle, the golden parachute recipient and incumbent board member whose candidacy is being aggressively supported by House Speaker Bobby Harrell.
From the GN story:
(Whittle) said he hasn’t picked up an overall mood of concern about the direction of USC.
Wait … what?
USC is literally under siege by furious faculty, alumni, parents and taxpayers – all of whom are fed up with its botched “economic development” efforts and who want it to get back to its core mission of educating students.
If Mack Whittle doesn’t think there is “concern about the direction of USC,” he’s either a moron or a liar – either of which should be a good enough reason for lawmakers to vote against him.
USC TRUSTEE DIES
University of South Carolina’s longest-serving Trustee Michael Mungo passed away on Sunday at the age of 82. Mungo served on the board from 1969-1978 and again from 1982-2010 – which is 37 years, if our calculators are working correctly.
Mungo was unopposed in his bid for another term this year, and his death comes just days before lawmakers are scheduled to hold trustee elections.
S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford is expected to select an interim appointment (pending a legislative election sometime in the future), but before fiscal conservatives start celebrating, it’s worth noting that Sanford’s at-large appointment to this board is liberal Lake City, S.C. financier Darla Moore.
Sanford’s office also told The State newspaper that it would “consult with lawmakers” before making an interim appointment.
Sheesh …
CLEMSON TRUSTEE UPDATE
God bless John Bednar. A professor emeritus at Clemson University, he’s been one of the few brave souls in Tigertown willing to protest the out-of-control administrative spending increases, mission creep and attempted rankings manipulation that have defined the administration of President James Barker.
Of course it doesn’t pay to be a watchdog for taxpayers in this state, as Bednar is finding out the hard way in his campaign to earn a seat on Clemson’s Board of Trustees.
“I have little hope of being elected,” Bednar said Monday. “Particularly since I learned how much buying of votes and glad-handing goes on. And frankly, I’m a little surprised at how socially important these Board positions are. I thought they were actually supposed to be people concerned about the institution and about education in South Carolina.”
Duh … they’re supposed to be, but they’re not … which is sadly just how it goes in South Carolina (on multiple fronts).
SCGOP V. ROB MILLER
In a possible effort to deflect attention away from its embarrassing spat with a former party official, the SCGOP on Monday decided to go after a familiar target – Democratic Congressional candidate Rob Miller.
Miller, who put up an impressive fight against U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson (RINO-Lexington) in 2008, has offered a variety of less-than-elucidating answers about whether he would have supported “Obamacare.” Clearly, that’s an opening that even this state’s brain-dead GOP is capable of exploiting.
In fact, Miller appears to be the only example of the SCGOP effectively , as they

Re: SCGOP v. Miller
That one’s easy to figure.
Wesley Donehue’s two clients are the SCGOP and Joe Wilson.
Wes is just doing some double-billing.

Skid-
You raise a great point.
With the SCGOP employing so many consultants (one of whom actually works inside the party’s office), is it reasonable to assume that their clients get preferential treatment from the GOP?

The Greenville News article ignores that Rep. Harry Cato, R-Travelers Rest/Lexington is one of Clemson’s most fanatically loyal alumni. I’m sure he only has USC’s worst interests at heart. Although Mack Whittle is a creep and had done more harm than good for USC, you have to wonder how much of Cato’s comments are sincere.

RE: Jenny Sanford
Even though she is an attention whore, she still deserves a good time. Everybody need somebody…….
But she should have kept it under wraps, its too soon. Those four kids are going to come out crazy, they are going to be like the bad kids in Talladega Nights.
A first lady with a boyfriend, only in South Carolina.

Maybe she’s the “First Divorcee” now.
Wow! That title sounds like a bad technicolor chick flick from the 1960s.

If Jenny is dating now would that mean Maria will show up? Those poor boys, how confusing it must be for them.

WOW! Bednar really did his homework before getting in the BOT race. This is news?

Maria will not show up . Why should she? The LUV_GOV is a has-been. She will just move on to another big-shot conquest. It is her style.
