By FITSNews || Assuming we ever write a book about the rise and fall of S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford – as many have encouraged us to do – we would obviously have to include the governor’s thoughts on the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks that killed nearly 3,000 Americans.
What did Sanford say privately about the attacks?
That’s the beauty of asymmetrical warfare.
Yeah … too bad he couldn’t have found a reporter at the time to supply with that quote.
Of course, poor phraseology aside Sanford was right, wasn’t he? In fact, if you sub in the word “effectiveness” for “beauty” (ouch), that statement strikes us as an entirely rational point that’s worth discussing.
For example, the September 11 attacks had a profoundly adverse affect on the American economy – to say nothing of the deeper psychological scars it produced. Meanwhile, America has “responded” to the attacks by erecting a massive, liberty-depriving bureaucracy at home while spending billions of dollars abroad fighting an enemy that it doesn’t understand and can’t see to locate.
In other words, Terror(ism) 2, America 0.
Beautiful?
