Mulvaney Gives Good Quote

mulvaney spratt

By FITSNews || U.S. Rep. John Spratt’s photo opportunity with President Barack Obama last Friday in Charlotte, N.C. was supposed to symbolize the fourteen-term Congressman’s proximity to power.

Of course, with the House Budget Chairman later divulging that he ordered a “fruit bowl” aboard Air Force One (a plane he later compared to Noah’s Ark), that whole “alpha male” thing vanished faster than your tax dollars in one of Spratt’s budgets.

Anyway, Spratt’s “Obama opportunity” was tailor-made for his GOP opponent, S.C. Senator Mick Mulvaney.

“A picture may be worth a thousand words, but these photos are worth trillions of dollars in deficit spending and unconstitutional government takeovers,” Mulvaney told the Rock Hill Herald.

Nice!  We’ve always felt that Mulvaney gave good quote, but it’s nice to see he’s got the “quip” club in his bag, too.

Anyway, Spratt told the Herald that he and Obama talked about textiles and unemployment in Charlotte, N.C. on their flight.  He then joined a group of North Carolina lawmakers as Obama visited a manufacturing facility in the Tarheel State.

Hmmmm …

If we were Spratt, we’d be focusing on unemployment in Chester County (21.3 percent), Marlboro County (20.5 percent), Lancaster County (18.5 percent), Chesterfield County (17.3 percent) or Dillon County (17.2 percent)… not Charlotte, where the unemployment rate is a more manageable 11.7 percent.

Also, check out the comments on the Herald article.

Brutal for Spratt!

Sure, that was witty, but do you really think he came up with that on his own? Does one little quote really merit a whole post?

And why are you so enamored with Mulvaney?

    Questions, questions…

Why don’t you post the numbers Spratt got in the last election in those self-same counties?
In a couple, the unemployment rate you post is about half his margin of victory percentage.
What, didn’t he get 70 percent in Dillon and Marlboro county.
The talk in the plane was about unemployment because that’s the message the White House was coming to Charlotte to deliver.
I don’t think the people of the fifth district expect Spratt to give them jobs.
As for the “brutal” comments about Spratt, those are probably mostly from Republican and Tea party nasties in York County.
But again, check the numbers from the last election. He still won York County. he might lose that county this time around, but it will be a close vote.
If everything else shakes out like the last couple of elections, he can afford to lose York County, maybe by as much as 70,000 votes, and still win the Fifth District. GOP party operatives completely fail to grasp that, and that’s why they couldn’t take it with a GOP poster boy like Ralph Norman, and won’t with Mick Mulvaney.

Mulvaney (aka known as Sanford’s little boy) would have creamed in his jeans if the POTUS asked him to ride on AF One. Mulvaney is as phony as they come.

If Spratt were to lose York County by 70,000 votes, I guarantee he would lose the race. But I doubt that many votes will be available, and I can’t imagine him not getting one. When, besides ’08, were 70,000 votes even cast in York County?

Barry ain’t gonna be on the ticket drawing people to the polls. Even if he were, I think a whole lot of folks who supported Barry have already realized they were scammed with the whole hopey-changey thing, and would stay home, or vote against him.

Oh, and the “P” in “GOP” stands for “Party,” ONNA.

Unfortunatley this quote was NOT that great. I figured him making a good quote was certainly headline worthy, but unfortunatley this wasn’t it. Though give him time, he will likely make one (maybe two good quotes) before the election is over…maybe.

Zingers need to be shorter, take off the last f-ing phrase for instance. Zingers normally don’t include 6 syllable words like “unconstitutional.” Mulvaney makes light weight look like Rosanne Bar with a diving belt on.

Spratt was the author of the pay-go system under Clinton (led to projected supluses as opposed to deficitis – kind of a memorable time).

Mulvaney probably doesn’t remeber/care enough/know enough about the federal budget and it history to even understand what or when that was. But he may – with practice (clearly) – become a good quote maker…subtance…not so much.

OhNoNotAgain – The people of the fifth don’t expect Spratt to give them jobs, they expect the former middle of the road congressman to put legislation in place that won’t hamstring the small buisness – which is about all left in the district – those are the people who will give jobs. Spratt already has proven that all he can do is bitch and whine abot textile jobs whcih will never return.

CNSYD – I’ll put Mulvaney up against Obummer – with a teleprompter – anytime. Mulvaney knows where he stands and he is far from phoney. He tells it like it is.

Mulvaney will be the next congressman from the “Fighting Fifth” as Sic has named it. Hell, Spratt should not even be running for alot of reasons, but mainly because of his health.

Sorry about the numbers. You could have taken 10,000 York County votes from Spratt in the race against Norman, just switched the columns, and Spratt still wins the Fifth District.
The Republican/Tea Party blowhards are making a lot of noise in the Fifth District. But I’m betting most of them are in York County. They’ve been there before.
That’s the thing. You prove to me the rest of the Fifth District shares this sentiment, and I’ll believe it. I think a Republican could have won the Fifth District in many recent years, but he just didn’t do it right.
Exposure in York County is useless in Cheraw, Dillon, Sumter, and Lee counties. You have to beat a LOT of bushes.

LA Conservative, I will bet you dollars to dog turds Mulvaney (Little Sanford) won’t get elected. The closer we get, we will see many pictures of a love fest between Mulvaney and Sanford. Voters will get the message. Elect Mulvaney and you get a Sanford clone.

Mulvaney will get over 55% in York and over 60% in Cherokee. That is all he needs.
