By FITSNews || U.S. Rep. Gresham Barrett has received the backing of another Washington, D.C.-based “conservative” group, his campaign announced Monday, another reminder of how hard it
Barrett has been endorsed by the political action committee of the American Conservative Union (ACU), which fancies itself as “the country’s largest conservative grassroots organization.” The group praised Barrett for his “unwavering commitment to the conservative convictions upon which our nation was founded” and for “having remarkable devotion to conservative principles on a wide range of issues.”
Hmmm … except for that whole flip-flop on the Bush bailout, we’re guessing.
Anyway, we could have probably stomached that bit of B.S. alright, but the ACU endorsement goes on to praise Barrett for his so-called “jobs plan,” which the organization says “is built on time-tested free market principles.”
Wait, what?
Barrett’s “jobs plan” includes no tax relief – but it does create dozens of new bureaucratic “economic development” positions and a bunch of new “study” committees, which is the last thing South Carolina needs right now. In fact, we’ve had so many of these “blue ribbon” study committees created in our state over the years that there’s actually now a proposed committee to study all the “study committees.”
And don’t get us started on the state’s bureaucracy, which has somehow managed to expand during the longest, deepest economic recession in more than eight decades.
But again, back to the fundamental point, how on earth is a plan that provides no tax relief and expands government bureaucracy “built on time-tested free market principles?”
It’s not … which makes this just another bullsh*t D.C. status quo endorsement for Barrett.

If it has the word “Union” in it’s name- it is NOT conservative. The only function of a union is to connect enlightened Democrat “union workers” to the pockets of the tax payers through socialist government thugs (i.e., liberal lobbyist trail lawyers & the government sponsored media) to pay-off liberal Democrats who will vote for anything (as long as it does not apply to them). I guess the solution is “Unions for All” and then we can just keep picking each other’s pockets through eternity! Barrett is your “typical’ desperate South Carolina pseudo-conservative who will use this endorsement on the ‘typical’ stupid South Carolina voter. Gotta love the circle of life!

The American Conservative Union is the gold standard of conservative groups. They’ve been around forever, and their ratings are used by groups like National Journal, The Almanac of American Politics, and major news organizations.
For the ACU, via its PAC, to get involved in a competitive GOP primary is a pretty big deal. Willie may prefer ratings from Club for Growth, but those boys were still wetting their diapers when ACU came on the scene in the 1960′s.

The ACU like the NRA has been around long enough to thrive on the very problems it is supposed to be combating.
Bureaucracies thrive as being bureaucracies and only seek to grow and enrich themselves as entities and as individuals within the entities. They are almost all eventually infiltrated and corrupted by the same back-scratching, self-propagating mind-set. Our governments are the perfect example of such self-replicating corruption.
The ACU is so old and corrupt that it is wetting it’s own diapers and telling us it’s raining.
