By FITSNews || A year ago Cheraw, S.C. was a quiet little town where the local political machine doled out its corruption the way corruption is typically doled out – i.e. under the radar and out of the limelight.
That all changed last May, when FITS published the first article in a series of stories exposing the various machinations of former Solicitor Jay Hodge, whose alleged seediness with public funds quickly turned this tiny hamlet upside down. Our reports outlined the inception of what is an ongoing federal investigation into the co-mingling of taxpayer and charitable funds for personal use – a scandal that has since been picked up by numerous mainstream media outlets.
Amazingly, it turns out “there’s internet” in Cheraw, and town residents not only picked up on our coverage but they started commenting on it feverishly. Within a week, hundreds of comments had been posted on our various stories, turning FITS into the digital equivalent of the local barber shop. In fact, one of our most recent posts on Cheraw – which outlined how one of Hodge’s properties was shot up by a pellet-gun wielding bandit – has garnered over 200 comments.
So … what’s the latest in this ongoing drama?
Sources tell FITS that the disgraced former solicitor is back in business – only this time he’s representing the sort of criminals he used to prosecute. He’s also “got himself” a less-than-ethical partner, we’re told, some “carpetbagger from North Carolina” with a record of less-than-ethical behavior.

Well people today in the Link we were all informed that our so called CROOKED Probate judge will be running again so that means all of the dirty back stabbing group of democrats that run this county are staying STRONG AND ACTIVE!!!! On top of that Vincent Sheehen will be the guest speaker for the town of Chesterfield annual dinner. Don’t you know that Hodge, Finch, Davis, Vick,Sheehen, and all of the rest of the group are all laughing at how they can DO WHATEVER they want and their friends CAN and we the people will still put them on a pedestal and elect and honor THERE KIND!!! No wonder the rich get richer and the poor get dumber. It is time that the good honest hard working people of this county find someone to run again Brother Davis and not vote for ANY OF THE LEADERS IN OFFICE TODAY. Remember they are the ONES that have helped cover up all of the WRONG deals that have effected so many lives and families!!! Concerned Citizen – Good luck on finding an intelligent, honest person to run against the crooks in Chesterfield County, especially the (DIS)honorable Probate Judge “”brother” Davis. Those kinds of citizens have the attitude of – “who needs this $hit”. The main problem frankly is, the “machine” has the black vote wrapped up. Blacks will pretty much vote the way “brother” and his merry band of crooks dictate. Whether that is through intimidation, payoffs, or something else, I don’t know but it is a fact. The good news is, there is the potential at least for change through attrition. That is, via some of the “machine” kicking the bucket or going to jail. We can only hope.

Who in their right mind would want to run for one of these offices in Chesterfield Co? The constant criticism, etc. Somebody’s got to do it I suppose. It’s a shame some of these in office politicians can’t tell these arm chair politicians what to kiss! These arm chair politicians would probably screw things up worse than they already are. Hodges defending crooks is nothing new.
He was the Chesterfield County public defender before he ran for solicitor. Used to be pretty good at it too. Used battered woman syndrome to defend a woman who had set fire and killed her children a year or so before Susan Smith drowned her boys.

Goodness no, Davis is running again? Does anyone know who lady reportedly fired from solicitor office was? I thought Kerry Campbell & Adam Foard were/doing excellent job. Seems public defendent Turnblad is decent.
Sheehen should consider whether or not it’s a good idea to associate with some in local Dem. party if he wants votes. He appears to be a potential capable man.
Just know what I’ve seen on paper, I do try to give people the benefit of the doubt.
Most concerned about other issue with Hodge that came up in another post. Not an issue to make snap judgement about, whether he did or did not, but deserves investigation.
Keep stirring the pot, I say.

I have lived here for over 20 years now and the local Democrats have controlled everything the whole time I’ve been here. I know for a fact, if you cross those people in the pack, they will have a round table meeting on how to destroy the offender and the family of that person. The meeting have always been held at Jay Hodges’ house. He is so paranoid now, the meetings are being held at Matt Rivers and

The woman spoken about, deffended by Hodge, killed her boyfriend. DID NOT set the house on fire or anything other than defend herself after the man had beaten her with a pipe.
The solicitor at the time, Gordon McBride did not want to prosecute the woman. The solicitor did not even put up a fight. Some cat came in from Columbia, made a mild attempt to make it look good for the public. I was there he told the jury he did not want to prosecute. He thought she did what anyone should have done. EVEn the police help he on the stand. The people who testified for her, made her case. NOT JAY HODGE!

Give me a break——– how hard can it be to sit in a heated/ air condition office, or ride to Columbia and spend your time (worktime) to help ONLY yourself, family, and anyone that will benefit yourself and in the mean time have everyone BOW down to your commands because you do have the POWER!!!!!( because we gave it to them with OUR VOTES) Now let me ask you, does that sound so bad? Cheraw Dad, you wondered why I do not run for office because I am concerned. The big hold back would be TIME and MONEY!!! Just because I have my hours filled up with other obligations does not mean that I am not concerned about my county and the people that live here and that only means that I care HOW and WHO RUNS this county. It DOES NOT TAKE VERY LONG to see how things are not right or fair but it will take ALOT of TIME to correct and it will take MORE THAN ONE PERSON to run for office because there are alot of offices that need FILLING. Former Solicitor and his comrades are pressing the vice against those whom they think ratted them out. The corruption in this county is greater than the good in our state. Unless the investigators act soon, there will be carnage, and some innocent people will be harmed. It is sad that this sh**heads can have free reign to do as they wish and not be held accountable to someone. It makes me sick to my stomach to see them ride around this beautiful community with their noses held high and laugh at those who try to do good. Hell ain’t good enough for you bas*ards. Still would like to see that issue about child sexual abuse addressed w/some facts. And the Cabin Creek beatdown. And who exactly got fired @ solicitor’s office. So hard, too, to tell from good, bad, and ugly around here.
Wish there were more online evidence. One was posted concerning a municipal judge. Why couldn’t one of the local papers post it? I was told they were concerned about a lawsuit, but if it’s online, then it’s public knowledge, right?
That’s why I don’t buy either, read them at library. Guess they’d go out of business, though. Everyone would boycott them. Still wish they’d go that extra mile.

Safrona Finch was given the pink slip as well but only after she had taken all her alleged sick leave/ vacation she had built up. That’s the same time she was going all over Chesterfield telling she would return as soon as she was ready. What a joke? Anyone that was remotely associated with the solicitor’s office under Hodges time would know that her time had been used many times over. She’s as big a liar as Hodge and shares his same pension for helping themselves to the cookie jar. This time they both got caught with their hands in it.

Mary anderson WAS fired for helping Jay Hodge to all the files from CDV court case in the 4th Circuit.
Fact. Campbell was fired because of behavior unbecoming of the office of which she was employed.

Safronia spent LOTS OF TIME AT HOME during her employment for J Hodge. We thought she worked part time, she spent so much time at home. She was always complaining about being sick from this or that. I’m startin to believe that all that’s going to happen is that people who have spoken out against some in the “machine” around here are going to get arrested for whatever nitpicking reason they can find or their lives will be made so miserable they’ll relocate.
I wish I could be granted 1 small favor: take the tap off my phone & computer, they keep shutting down & I pay for these things.
Furthermore, it’s great that folks are working on cleaning up the area, but while swearing to do that, why not try to get some jobs here & maybe people can actually work instead of resorting to what they may have to do to get by.

I heard that Hodge has been overseas the past few weeks. I guess he’s getting some European strange one last time before they lock him up. Wonder what Bill Overcash thinks about that? He gets left here with Safrona ( who supposedly he can’t stand and I can’t say I blame him) to mind the business of Mercy Ministries while the “big” man travels abroad. I’m sure that Mercy Ministries is probably footing the bill as well.

Not perfect here by any means, but I’m not in charge of the safety of the citizens in this town. Hope it’s true about the above, take the whole damned lot. That includes people on town council and anywhere else that have turned a blind eye to what has been going on forever and a day.
Folks can’t imagine how many people have suffered & lost so much because of these people’s actions. Still think there’s something fishy with the cop being shot, not really concerned about the guy who shot him, thinking perhaps the cop was set up for that. Just my opinion, though. Glad to see he’s at least doing better & has returned to work. The good ones around here can’t do their job for all the dirty ones.

To answer your questions, “whats up in Cheraw SC?” These band of thieves continue to loot the citizens. Just recently, a municipal employee did a “moon lighting” consulting job.. the same project that he would have influence on during his “day job.” But I don’t place the blame on him at all because he learned it from the top dogs… standard operating procedure. Week after week, it continues. Why? Because there is a machine at work and there is no accountability, because these demons have ties to powers outside the area. Hodge may not be going to jail. He may have enough pull to get the FBI off his back but one things for sure, he doesn’t have enough money to get Uncle Sam off his back. The FBI might turn a blind eye but the IRS get’s theirs! Trust me, they know he has no liquid assests (cash) except for his checkbook with Mercy Minisitries. You are right, the former solicitor may never be charged with anything, but, he will never wield the power and influence he once enjoyed, nor with he have the loosely guarded, access to funds that he has had at his disposal for all these years. Once the secrecy of Mercy Ministry is exposed, he will likely loose that access also. I have never in my 20 years in public service seen a not for profit exist without some purpose or product of their supposed mission. They have funds, but no function. What exactly do they do? Is there a stated mission? Is there a mission statement? Maybe the same people who exposed Acorn will come down to Cheraw and get to the bottom of it, at least when they are finished, we’ll know what Mercy Ministry is all about and who is involved. I got a better idea. Why not Mercy Ministry donate all their funds to the free medical clinic in Cheraw so the people of the community will get some real benefits.

The “powers” may be intimidating but thank goodness for the FEDS and some new folks in town. It does get to a point where it’s best to speak out and do what you have to, afraid or not.
I’m sure they’ll at least think twice before making threats and making people’s lives miserable. Enough registered complaints and eventually someone listens.
Though I don’t care for some of the stuff on this site, I’m thankful for FITS news too.

The “ultimate power” and we know who I’m referring too, seems to think that he above the law and unfortunately those around him have been brainwashed into believing it also. They think they’re safe and his connections will bring them through this. But, just you wait and see, when the pressure really gets on, they’ll make an exodus and leave him standing like a lone corn stalk in a freshly plowed field. No one will take the fall for him. This ain’t some television movie where the corrupt politician pays some junkie off to take the wrap, no this is real life. So, Laura, you remain steadfast, cause if there is any truth to any of this and if there is an investigation on the federal level, you can rest assured that they are 99% successful in getting the culprit. It takes time, but that’s because they are very methodical in their pursuit and leave NO stone unturned, their case is made beforehand. Of course, I say all this assuming that there is in fact an investigation. For all we know, mr. “power” may have cooked all this up to make himself look more powerful.

The worst of my issues is behind me. I do intend to stay focused on the political activity in this town. I’m not perfect by any means, but I’m not responsible for running things in this area while others are. This area has been challenged in every area from economics, education, etc. to social issues. This area can do better.
I have lost 3 people I greatly cared about, an uncle died in Chesterfield jail back in early 1970s. My ex spouse is now serving prison time, as is a close friend. I understand what they did was wrong, but it is fact that there were some in uniform right with them, doing the same things they were. I would gladly testify to that in a court of law.
As for me, I’m moving on, and I refuse to be afraid of anyone related to these issues and am more than prepared to handle whatever may come my way.

While I don’t live in the area, I am a frequent visitor to the streets of Chesterfield and know many people in the parts. I ran into the previous solicitor office admin person and I cannot believe what my ears have been filled with. For someone to be so naive and honestly, so “twilight”, and to have fallen so far, why would one put their self at peril? The best thing for this person to have done would have been to create as much distance between their being and the former Solicitor. By not doing so, you show others that you have something to hide and you want to be around to monitor every moment, every detail and to control what goes out. The smart ones got out while the getting was good. The less intelligent have not and of course, it’ll be the decision that they’ll regret one day if not already. I wish this person well, but if they choose to stay at their former’s and of their own free will and of sound mind, then so be it. You will pay a price.

Looks to me like they have struck the greatest wound. Jay Hodge did not just retire. He is too greedy and big headed to let that kind of power go from his hands.

Well hello everyone … been gone awhile. Came back and decided to check on the latest post to this site. Seems to be the same cesspool of hatred, bitterness, anger and unforgiveness. Why do you even bother to go to church? You know, I have to admire Jay for going to church with people that hate him. I have to admire him for trying to love those that dispitefully use him and persecute him. You know Jesus did the same thing. Yes, I know that Jay is not Jesus, but right now I see more Jesus in him than most on this site. You know, I heard from a very reliable source (someone that knows the author of post here – even yours truly)that he has never posted anything here, even under a pseudonym. I seriously doubt any of you could do the same if you were in his shoes.
We are to love our enemies as ourselves. We are to forgive to be forgiven. We are to show the mercy and grace of Jesus to all, especially those who have wronged you. You have attacked the character of so many, yet you seem to lack character yourself. Murmurring and complaining …. just keep wandering in that wilderness of bitterness and you will never venture into that promise land. Why not use the time you waste on talking negative to pray for jobs for our county? Why not pray for Godly leaders? Why not pray for wisdom and guidance for the leaders we have? Life and death is in the tongue. Life is positive words, that encourage, give hope and breath life into EVERY situation. Death condemns, sucks the life out of hope and speaks doom & gloom into EVERY situation. Repent of negative words and ask God to be in control of each situation. Judge not, that ye might be judged. Do you talk to God as much as you complain to others? Perhaps it is time to search your own hearts. If you think your heart is pure and just, you are deceived by the father of all lies, Satan himself.
I am also amazed that some of you do not realize that everyone deserves a fair trial. Lawyers take an oath to defend with every effort each client using every law written for the benefit of that client whether you think they deserve it or not. Not always is it the choice of the lawyer to defend only the innocent but our legal system assures everyone of justice and that includes a good defense … so it must be done. How naive to think that every lawyer should defend only the innocent. Check it out … every lawyer has at one time or other defended someone that was actually guilty. Condemn one, you condemn all of them. A fair trial must be just that … a fair trial. That means a lawyer doing everything within the law to defend the client whether it is as a public defender or not.
Again, it is time to start talking to the ONE that can make a difference. Start spending time on your knees instead of here. When you talk to God, ask him to search your own heart and remove anything that is unpleasing to Him before you start asking talking to him about others. My prayer for you is that God will show you the mercy, grace and forgiveness that we all should be showing each other. If you ask, He will even teach you how to pray about every situation that continually haunts you like this one has. He taught the disciples…remember?
I am saddened that this blog has continued as it has. I know that it saddens God. May HE have mercy one you and continue to be gracious to you.

I understand your point of view, actually, Darkness. It’s just that Hodge is part of what is wrong with the political infrastructure of this area. If things aren’t running properly politically, societies have a tendency to fall apart and lots of people suffer as a result.
There are crimes and then there are CRIMES. If Mr. Hodge, and I don’t understand why he won’t address the allegations posted on this site, I would had I been accused of such, is guilty of those particular charges, he deserves to answer for those. If he is wrongly charged, the accusers need to answer for it.

Dear Ed: I have not been on any street in Chesterfield since October of 2009. If S.F. was spewing, I hope none of it splattered on you. I know so many are so sick of this mess including s.f. that vomiting in the streets is highly likely. Perhaps the spewing is from being near someone that pretends to be a friend only to get some tidbit of information that can be twisted and distorted that they might appear powerful or “in the know” to anyone that will listen.
As for my appearing on this site, why don’t you stay off this web site? Apparently, since my post are appearing, I have as much right as you to be here. Your problem is not with me … your problem is that you know I am right. You know the prophets in the Bible were persecuted because they spoke the truth that no one wanted to hear. If you had facts, you would be sharing them with the investigators and they would be advising you to keep this confidential until they call you as a witness in court.
To “tell it like it is” – As for Jay Hodge running for solicitor, I did not know that he was going to run. Is that official? Has he filed to run? I like facts, not rumors. As for my pseudonym, I think it is amusing and enjoy it quite a bit. It is so befitting on this site. No one else uses their real name on here, why should I? Sure, some sound real, however, upon investigation, I have found that no one uses their true name.
As for me judging you, I apologize if you feel that way. My intention was to remind you of biblical truths that have stood the test of time. Murmurring and complaining or bearing false witness has never produced a positive outcome for anyone but has always resulted in just the opposite (check out the 40 year wilderness experience in the Old Testament, I referred to in an earlier post). I just want you to realize that prayer works if you put it into practice and that too is a biblical principle that has stood the test of time.
As for Jay appearing here and subjecting himself to the comments of those that are extremely biased toward him, never would I. Many here have already judged him and found him guilty. If you have a copy of the video that is spoken of so often, why not post it. If you have documentation for all your accusations, turn it over to the authorities and wait for the case to come up in court so you can take the witness stand. This is not a courtroom. If so, heresay would never be allowed and those that commit purgery would be put in jail. What will you do if you find out that many of the supposed facts on this site are proven to be wrong? What will you do if you find out that you have been used to fulfill someone else’s vendetta … if you have been used like a pawn in a chess game? What will you do if you find that someone else has done the things that you have accused others of doing and was just using them to hide their own actions. What if the true culprits are being investigated right now? What if the one(s) that really did wrong are still in the solicitor’s office? I know …you will either feel guilty or pretend that every word you have written and spoken was justified. Perhaps some of you are the guilty culprit(s) and have several pseudonyms to draw attention away from yourself. Hmmmmm ….! Perhaps some are getting paid to make post to this site. The sad part is that you might even believe that you are justified in what you say and do.
Many jurors have had to live with the knowledge that because of their verdict an innocent man was put to death or lost years of his life in prison only to be found innocent too late. How can you live with that? All I am saying is think, pray and think and pray again before casting stones. If you have undisputable proof, go to the authorities. This is not the place; that is why we have courtrooms.

Anyone that knows Jay knows all he ever wanted was to be elected to anything and then he just retires when no one is even running against him? Ed, I don’t really know how S.F. feels. I do have a great deal of sympathy for you however. It is hard for me to imagine someone feeling about me the way you feel about s.f. It really seems that you have personal issues with s.f. that go way beyond the issues of the investigation or charges so carelessly tossed around. What did s.f. do to you? Are you jealous of her or is it just a personal vendetta? Are you scared that her name will be cleared and it will be your name in the fire? I sense some deep bitterness. You do know that bitterness is like cancer of the heart that eats at your very soul. Nothing anyone could have done is worth that. Repentance is the only cure. You must repent and forgive to be forgiven for your own sake.
Cheraw Dad, I believe in going to the source when I want to know facts. I have no clue about Jay’s retiring. Just as he has no clue about my employment status. And you may find this surprising but …. I really don’t care why. I think he is a few years older than me so if he can afford to retire, God bless him. However, if you are curious, pick up the phone and ask him. Another idea … you could drop by and see him and maybe get some answers to other questions you might have. He won’t know who you are since you use a pseudonym on this site and you could pretend you are a friend like so many others have.
From what I understand from others that have talked with Jay quite frequently, he is quite pleasant to talk with about practically anything. He has also been described to me as quite open, interesting and fun to be around. That is quite surprising to me considering the abuse he has taken from so many. He appears to be a very forgiving, tolerant and patient man and I admire that. Hmmm … a few more traits like Jesus. Seems he is getting more from the sermons in church than those that try to shun him in church. You know my grandma used to say that you take on characteristics of the one you draw close to …so she said draw close to Jesus …guess Jay is drawing closer to Him. So Cheraw Dad, it does not sound like you have any reason to be afraid of him. Just ask him what you want to know. You will have the facts right from the source instead of hearsay or fiction from those that are just repeating gossip that may not be true. Try being a man Cheraw Dad … a man of integrity. Others will feel better about you and you will feel better about yourself. It is the honorable thing to do.

Did a terrorist attack or something of the sort occur within the past 2 weeks in Cfld County around Cash community? Just wondering because photos in the Link have an armored assault vehicle & practically the entire Sheriff’s Dept. carrying some pretty big guns to handle a one-man standoff.
Article stated the suspect had stolen guns, or they thought he had them, who knows.
How much did it cost the taxpayers or the state?
We’re not living in NYC & I don’t think the terrorists are itching too terribly to get their hands on anything down here.
Sheriff Parker needs to tone it down, cool it down, or step down. Someone please tell me he’s not running unopposed. The gentleman who ran against him last time would have made an excellent Sheriff. Tough but well-tempered, along w/ fair & understanding.

I am no expert Ed, but I truly believe the best therapy for S.F., Jay or any others that are trashed and thrashed on this site would be to never visit it. Perhaps, someone has already warned them of that. Given the opportunity, I would love to tell them to never check it out.
Ed, I will have to get your true identity. I want to see if I know you. You have really peeked my curiosity. It might be a couple of weeks before I can check my sources. The amusing thing is that you are convinced of who I am and yet I have not seen any of the parties involved in this political drama in quite a while. This is so fun. You would be absolutely shocked to know my true identity. Hmmmm …. perhaps I will give you a hint. Should I????? OK, here goes … I have preached in a church near Dillon, S.C. and recently was a guest speaker in Marlboro County…. awesome service. None of the parties involved in this travesty have ever heard any of my sermons and I doubt they even know I preach. They do know of my character and that I am a Christian that loves the Lord. I can’t and never will hide that fact. I doubt my name is even familiar to some of them.
Just think Ed, I might walk up and introduce myself to you. Perhaps we can share a cup of coffee. Wouldn’t that just be a hoot? I think we would enjoy the visit and part agreeing and disagreeing on some of the issues in this drama. You see I have no hidden agendas. I am in favor of justice and fairness. This site is not a courtroom. Justice and fairness cannot be served here. That is my agenda in a nutshell. I want to encourage the visitors and contributors of this site to give our system a fair chance to work and not put it in jeopardy by trying a case here. Heresay, gossip, vendettas and slander does not bring justice. Let the facts be presented in the courtroom. I am not naive, I really believe darkness will come to light and justice will be served if allowed. This whole situation is in the hands of higher authorities and the system can work if it is not compromised by foolishness. The true test is the patience of man. Right now, it appears that many of the contributors to this site lack the willpower to resist this temptation.

The reason this site is used as a “courtroom”, as is some folks’ opinion, is because other folks called, reported, tried for years to get something done through other channels & it didn’t work.
I hope, just as much as I hope to see Hodge & others address their accusers, that if you’re preaching, Darkness, that you address the serious issues, like oh say, pedophilia, & that you wouldn’t try to sway anyone’s opinion from the pulpit. I have no idea who you are but you sound familiar, just judging from previous posts by an individual.
While you’re visiting churches & posting on here, I’ve heard the psychiatric care in this & surrounding areas has improved. You may want to stop in on your way to church.
It’s just along the lines of rational deduction that if anyone on this site is bold enough to accuse an individual openly of pedophilia, knowing they are accusing someone in quite a high political position & that they could be sued for slander or worse, then there’s probably something to it.
What exactly was that alleged beatdown at a local restaurant decades ago for again? I’m dying to know. It would explain a lot about how this area has declined to what it is now & how certain people in certain positions have gotten away w/ so much for so long.
Very glad to see child abuse, teen pregnancy, and other issues being addressed more openly around here & am thankful for organizations doing it.

Looks like Chesterfield County Sheriff & Solicitor are losing control of their boys and girls are either they all in same bed together with Mercy Ministries and the former Solicitor. Couple of Deputies and Solicitor employees been spending a whole lot of time on the grounds of Mercy’s massive real estate holdings under the direction of former Solicitor. Word on the street now is that Deputy & his new lady love are actually renting space from Mercy. And, to top that it all off, one Deputy, who’s wife use to work for Solicitor but mysteriously made an exit due to some scandalous activity, is renting from former Solicitor and spending a lot of time at Mercy. Now ain’t that some sh*t. Attention Sheriff & Solicitor, don’t think this can be healthy for your organizations, all kinds of sh*t can seep into a crack, if you get my drift. Better plug the leaks. To “Say Yes”, maybe you should post a few of those videos on youtube or somewhere else so we can have a look. No harm done, since obviously Mercy Ministries and former Solicitor aren’t trying hard to hide it. Very brazen of them and very sad for our community that there is no outrage at the non-profit being “for profit” for a select few. Hope no one is donating any funds to this piggy bank for the privileged board members. On another note, I had heard something of this controversial matter while at college, but as college goes, I have been very busy in my journalism class. Since I have graduated and moved back, I now have the time to do a little digging and get to the bottom of this matter. I probably wouldn’t spend anytime on it if it weren’t for the non profit being mentioned. Time to set the record clear and I intend to do it. I’m Melvin Z and investigative journalism starts now!

Melvin Z with an update. This weekend, a current Solicitor employee and two Chesterfield County officers were onsite at the Mercy Ministries compound and appeared to be moving items into one of the facilities buildings. I’m Melvin Z and I’m on it.

Well it’s not hard to get information from around town, I guess that’s a benefit of living in small community. Here is what I have gathered thus far; according to sources, a current Solicitor employee who is also in the food service business is currently a tenant of the former Solicitor’s property, whom is possibly a part owner of the business (not validated yet.) A Current Sheriff Department officer has been seen numerous times in various jobs at the compound of Mercy Ministry. Yet another current Sheriff Department officer has moved a business venture into the Mercy Ministry compound. A current Solicitor employee was seen at the Mercy Ministry compound in the latter part of last week and appeared to be assisting a Sheriff Department officer in moving items. While these situations may be completely innocent, it does show that there is some fragmentation within the departments of the Sheriff and Solicitor and that the former Solicitor still wields some influence and power. I’m Melvin Z and I’m digging.

To confirm the the FACT that FEMA funds are going to Mercy Ministries, Inc., just call Tracy Teal at Tri County Mental Health or Margeret Mitchell at United Way of Chesterfield. Both phone numbers are in the book. All information is public and may even be on a web site somewhere. If you know where to look, you can find it.
I do know he recently refused to release on of the defendants, represented by Hodge. So it ain’t all good for Hodge and his power wand!
I don’t think Parker is a big fan of Hodge, these days!

I’m pretty sure Parker can’t refuse to release a criminal, he’s just the one in charge of making sure they get arrested. From what I hear the solicitor’s office is trying to distance itself from their former boss so they can’t be goin around doing favors like releasing criminals without a high bond. Elections are just around the corner and the new solicitor wants to make sure he keeps his nice new 130,000 job.

What further amazes me is how the accused and the supposedly current enforcements are so intertwined that it confusing to determine who is actually the seed. Well, I have been able to verify that there is some heavy equipment at the home of a certain party, if this is owned by Mercy Ministries then I can certainly see where there may be some conflict and a much needed explanation to the public. I have also spoken to an individual who is close to the Sheriff’s officer that has apparently moved a business venture to the “non profits” property and he validates that the officer and Solicitor employee are in a relationship, so that would explain her being seen at the premises. However, my question is why would anyone in law enforcement be seen at the site unless it is in the scope of their employment, at least until this controversy has cleared the air? And why would either agency allow this type exposure to tarnish their image, unless the Sheriff and Solicitor have no knowledge of the matter, which I find hard to believe in a community this size? So, is it wrong for the officer(s) and employee to be at the ministry compound? My general answer would be no, but in light of the circumstances, is it worth the risk of bad publicity for them to be there? Again, the answer is no. So why then would the leaders subject their organizations to this scrutiny? Unless, there is more to the story. I’m Melvin Z and I’m on it.

Hi Ya’ll!
Just got back and trying to catch up on the latest happenings. I have been doing a little investigating on my own. You see, I have not been following this thing for a year like most of ya’ll. In fact, it was a friend from Marlboro County that told me about fitsnews months ago and I came on here to check it out. Anyway, I wanted to seek out some of the facts for myself. I am interested in seeing that proof on youtube. Do let me know when and how to check it out.
I do have a few questions if you guys don’t mind answering. Did this Mercy business shut down? Is that why no one is supposed to be on the property? If so, can’t they just lock the gate or something? Where is this Mercy property located? I did find the two houses you have been talking about on this site. I went by the one in Chesterfield. I have been by there before in 1994 I think it was. It does not look any bigger to me. The square footage looks the same to me. Where is the addition?
I am going to try to check out the Cheraw house tomorrow if I can get to
Cheraw. I think I know where it is. I have not been down that road or street in probably 12 years. Surely though, having been brought up on a farm, I can tell freshly scraped land. You guys should know enough about me by now to know I need to see it for myself. I am all about facts … not heresay or fiction. I am checking out some of this stuff. I still have faith that “Darkness Will Come To Light” and justice will prevail. In matters such as this, I am a very patient person. Lives are at stake and I would never want to hurt the innocent and have that on my hands. At least I will not have to be on the jury for this. That will be a hard job.

After reading a post from “Darkness,” I decided to do some follow up on home improvements and additions, just to put it to rest. Well, I am happy to report that there is a level of truth to the “improvements & additions” to properties owned by some of the parties associated with Mercy Ministries. In addition, according to a carpenter that has worked on both properties, there may be a little more to the story that I am willing to get into at this point. The more I dig, the more disappointed I get with the leadership in this area and the level of tolerance that the locals have. Why is there such a reluctance to take a stand against corruption? I’m Melvin Z and I’ll stay on it.

I want to make mention of a model of a Sheriff and that would be Sheriff Wayne Byrd of Darlington County. I don’t know Sheriff Byrd personally, but in the few days that I have been back in Cheraw, his name has been mentioned to me several times. So, in an effort to cut through to the facts, I decided to do some research on my own. I have found that Sheriff Byrd has been very aggressive in his fight against crime as the media has reported on several occasions. Sheriff Byrd’s leadership and crime fighting prowess has to lend a sense of security to the residents of Darlington County and certainly should give them hope that with his continued pursuit of criminals, that one day soon, it will drastically reduce the crime rate for the county, which in itself, will deter further criminal activity and should have a positive affect on it’s reputation and economy. I mention this to make a point, if Chesterfield County’s law enforcement (Sheriff Department, District Attorney’s Office or as they call them here, Solicitor, and the local Police Departments) were as aggressive and worked as efficiently as Sheriff Byrd’s enterprise, then our county too could benefit the same. So I encourage our law enforcement to step up to the plate and give the citizens what they crave and simply deliver on what you were elected to do. I say this not to offend you, but to motivate you to deliver for the betterment of our communities. I’m Melvin Z and I’m on it.

Spineless … that is hilarious. You that does not have the nerve to go directly to the source but prefers to believe every Tom, Dick or Harry that has a bone of contention with the same people you do. As for liking CD’s, I have friends that recommended it to me and I tried it and liked it. The food is good and the price is right. I did notice several guys from the sheriff’s office there, maybe that is why you have not tried it. As for as setting a meeting up in advance, I apologize because I never know when I am going to be in the area. I do know that we missed each other about 45 minutes. Secrecy ….that is hilarious. If we were standing toe to toe you would not know me … so what is the point. You yourself cloak yourself in secrecy and perhaps deceit. By your comment, you seem to know S.F. as one that was once a friend. This really makes me sad. That means you have turned on her and instead of supporting her and loving her as a friend, you are condemning her and betraying a friendship. I know that God brings people into your life, some for a season and some for a lifetime. Distance and time sometimes separate us, but should an old friend need me, I am there. Even if that person MAY have done something wrong, I will be there to support them with my love and friendship. Friends forgive not condemn. This is all fine & good, not to mention quite entertaining, but lets get back to the real issues here:
1)What is going on with MM?
2)Is one of the accused here guilty of molesting young boys? Still wondering about that beatdown a few decades ago.
3)What really happened with the 17-yr-old who died in jail not too long ago?
4)How much is still being swept under the rug concerning local police depts & other politicos?
Speaking for myself only, I have all the time in the world to wait for answers & I’m a very patient person when I have to be.

The answers to your questions are as follows:
1-Same thing is going on at MM that was a year ago, particular board members are using assets as their own piggy bank. It’s nothing more than a tool for those select few to use to forward their agendas. If I’m wrong, I ask that MM come forward and prove me wrong. What is their mission there, I NEVER see any activity nor do you ever hear of anything that they are doing in the form of “ministry” in the community.
2-Nothing will come of this if it is true due to the connections of the alleged. As for the beat down, it came because the “beatee” piped his mouth off to somebody that didn’t mind kicking his ass, rather than kissing it.
3-As for the 17 year old, I’m sure if something was done wrong, we will never hear of it, nor will anything ever come of it. This town as a wonderful system of cover up and spin.
4-How much is being swept under the rug you asked. All of it. Do you ever hear of anything being done locally to battle the corruption and crime? NO. We have become a little Chicago and it will only get worse.

KT…her name is Mary Anderson. She and her husband Douglas live on Third Street in Cheraw. If you can’t find her name in the book, just call Rebecca Lewis Clark. I understand she is using her on some real estate deals passing bad information to clients which shouldn’t surprise anyone with the company that they both keep–disgraced ex-solicitor Hodge. They seem to be learning from the master himself at underhanded dealing. Of course people want believe they would be capable of anything as underhanded because they are some of the respectable people in the community. What a joke!

Just wanted to share with fitsnews crowd who I saw while taking care of some DNR business over in Columbia yesterday. I was walking around our capital complex and guess what two-some I spotted??? The illustrious Jay Hodge almost hand-in-hand with Chesterfield’s very own Rep. Ted Vick. What could they be up to??? Certainly Rep. Vick wouldn’t be helping Hodge lobby for one of “his” causes! I guess our trustworthy Rep. Vick must be paying back a political favor. Nice to know that our representative is keeping such upstanding citizens so close! Wonder how close he’ll be once the Fed’s drop the hammer on him???

Thanks but that isn’t really news. Everyone knows that Vick and Hodge are friends, but if people are so unhappy with Vick than why is he running unopposed this year? The real test of how unhappy people are with Hodge and the rest of the political machine in this area will be if Mrs. Elizabeth Munnerlyn gets elected even though she has a lot of competition in the Democratic primary. The machine is arleady working for her though, just look at her nice big profile piece in this week’s Link newspaper.

Tell me the value of our young people in this county. Not much according to the “SCHOOL BOARD”. Instead of cutting academics, arts and athletics, which all play a part in developing the young mind, how about cutting the superintendent’s salary by 25%. How about cutting the district office staff by 25%. The principal should give back a certain percentage of his income. Why do schools need ADs, assistant principals? Does anyone drive a “company car” or take a trip that the district has to pay for? Are we going to take the apathetic approach and let this happen? Who pays their salary? Duh!!! The TAXPAYOR–you and me. I have addressed ways to prevent a further decay in the education system around here. What now, let great teachers lose their jobs???? Enuf said!! But please read the email sent out by your school system superintendent.

At its meeting last night, the school board approved on first reading a reduction of coaching days and supplements by 25%. This was part of overall budget reductions. I told the board that we could not cut academics and arts and not include athletics. There was no recommendation for reducing the number of sports.
I will be asking principals and ADs to recommend how to reduce the 25%.

What in the hell is this school board story doing on here? We have an issue here about corrupt politicians and their misdeeds and then this “Concerned For Our Kids” gets on here… let me say this, the Chesterfield County School budget crisis is serious, but damn, so is this derelict group of politicians and power hungry wolves. They live their lives like the they’re on the “Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous” and at the expense of YOUR tax dollars. No conscience and no morals. God forbid if you cross one of them SOB’s cause it’s game on then, they’ll try to squash you like you’re the cockroach. They are so predictable, with a little insight you can determine their next move. Well, I’ll say this, they are pretty smart in what they do, but they ain’t too damn smart for who they do, cause they sending signals and messages to the wrong damn crowd in Cheeeeraw, I know a few of them are glad to get the heat from the di*k head politicians and power wolves.. it just gives them more resolve. Some people you f*ck with and some you don’t.. somebody is fixing to get an education. I love this town!

Well, cable went out this afternoon so I found myself surfing the internet and some of the people who are mentioned on this website and after an hour or so, was at the state’s ethics website and it’s the damnest thing, either our representative is the most frugal person in our political system or he is an investing marvel along the caliber of those found on Wall Street. If my math is correct, he is drawing salary of $12,993.75 from National Guard + $12,261.72 from House of Representatives and another $7999.98 from the Fourth Circuit Solicitor’s office, which ain’t too bad, but according to a friend in Chesterfield he’s driving a pratically new Corvette and a white Mercedes Benz and lives in some plush diggs there in Chesterfield. So, hows about sharing some of those stock tips or tell me where you getting all the good coupons to save all that money. Whats more, my buddy tells me that this guy is a christian, but on the website it shows him receiving political contributions from Anhauser-Busch, you know the beer company and Title Max which is a company that makes title loans at through the roof rates. So, not to damn sure how to read this guy, but so far it don’t smell too good.

Where is our money Chesterfield County Council? My chesterfield buddy tells me that the county doesn’t have any money and can’t pay our county bills and who is this James M. Rivers who is suppose to be the head of the council? He got his head in the sand while they spending all our money. My buddy told me that some workers went to lowes the other day to get some stuff and they wouldn’t let them get it cause county hasnt paid the bill? any truth to that? I am a friend of Andy B, and we are having some fun this afternoon since the cable vision isn’t working but the internet is.. doesn’t make any sense. Anyway, the more we look at these state ethics reports the more it’s all making sense, for example, in one political race, most of the people who have been mentioned in this blog about Chesterfield County have contributed heavily to each others campaigns. Get this, one of the former employees at Solicitor’s office and her husband contributed $4400 dollars to a campaign. Another contributor Hodge Company gave $1000. to same campaign and another of the mentioned give $4000. through various family members and a county councilman gave $2000. Guess it’ll all come out on a hot summers night in Chesterfield county.

As far as character qualities, Will Rogers name does not belong in that list of names. I used to think the same of Sam Parker but now have my doubts. The balance of those names have many sins to answer for later. No need to reference any specifics, they know what they have done! Don’t panic people, the FBI like to take their time and make sure everything is in place. Just look at the sheriff from Lee County as an example. They had been investigating that situation for several years before they closed the loop. It was a taped conversation that they felt endangered someone’s life that caused their action. Fear not, similar information has been and is continuing to be gathered. The Godfather himself has made several slip-ups lately and keeps pushing the wrong people. Yes, I am one of six key players who has been and continues to provide information to the FBI such as names, dates, case files, checking/expense account records, etc. I know that others very close to him have given affidavits, some he considers close friends. I assure you that this entire issue is alive and well.
Ask yourself this simple question-Would a grand jury convene and issue subpoenas for records from Mercy Minisitries and the solicitors office without issuing indictments? The answer to that is a big fat NO!! They will be coming to Chesterfield county for several people, including “Teflon Don”. Here’s a suggestion for those of you who are fed up with the political situation in our area even though some of our “questionable” elected officials are running unopposed. Don’t feel you have skip that spot on the card, use the write-in section. You can vote for yourself, your pet, or BIG BUBBA for that matter. The point is that we can show our dissatisfaction with the current political structure. These write-in votes will be counted and displayed (according to SC law) at your polling station once all ballots are counted. Check up on the system for yourself by testing the write-in ballot. Our cumulative voices can and will make a difference.

I overheard an older gentleman at the Chesterfield Courthouse last evening, and he said something that made a lot of sense, “If an old bulldog is sleeping, just try to go past without waking him up, if you wake him up, he’ll cause you a whole lot of trouble”, then he said “guess somebody woke up those bulldog brothers from Cheraw.” I didn’t put it all together until this morning when I was at Bojangles and two of Cheraw’s finest were there and of course it was all politics, anyway, they got on the same subject and mentioned names. I now know the “bulldog brothers” the old guy was referring to and I got a feeling that they have their eyes a few other council seats. Not to hard to figure out ones either. I love Bojangles.

That chop shop issue is addressed by chop shop owner’s brother in another article concerning the ex solicitor on this site. He even names 2 officers alledgedly involved w/ it, one a high ranker in law enforcement.
It gets really old seeing people fined & going to jail for what others get away with time after time.
Sure pretty much everyone is doing something wrong but everyone doesn’t wear a uniform & isn’t responsible for bookoos of $ & enforcing the law.
I wouldn’t mind one bit seeing everyone responsible for running things in this area step down & seeing how the citizens of this area would do without them. We’d damn sure see more $ in our pockets & the crime rate couldn’t possibly be worse. That goes for the entire state.

What we have come to expect from Chesterfield County politics and law enforcement, today learned that a couple of law enforcement’s fine and upstanding soldiers roughed up a suspect a few days ago. Did they get dismissed or fired? NO. Remember, this is Chesterfield County. They did get a little time off though… probably with pay. What’s sad is that the rumor mill is now churning that Cheraw’s current Chief of Police is planning a run for Sheriff. I know, just when you thought it couldn’t get any better. Have heard that there are some good candidates considering a run for County Council, Solicitor and a Representative job. Remember, lift the rug up to get some news cause around here, it’s all swept under it.

I usually shy away from sites like this but couldn’t help myself today after having breakfast in an atmosphere that I thought a fight could break out any minute. Realized as I was listening to the adjoining conversation that the leadership in our area has gone to hell. What we are seeing and hearing in the news is about a third of what is really taking place and it seems to be spiraling our of control. I for one am ready for a new sheriff, district attorney, police chief, county council members, mayor, town council members and the like. Will it happen? Probably not a broad sweeping change, but if we could get a portion of them changed and keep them energized, maybe could see a slight improvement. I feel like I have to take a shower every time I hear any talk about our leaders.

This county is too far gone. The Story of the minor being assaulted brings back into mind the 17yo that died in the hands of Cheraw PD. I personally know how it is to deal with the law enforcement in this area. I was assaulted at the cheraw police department while trying to file a report. I was told i couldnt file a report, ” Because all the cops are busy in court”. Here it is a year later, nothing has been done. Why?
Dont Dare ask any questions, if so you are questioning there job…and will probably recieve a verbal lashing or be told to leave just as i was.

To Chesterfield Resident – I wish I could agree with you on “when the FBI finally take action.” If they haven’t found enough in the nearly two years or so they’ve been “investigating”, they ain’t gonna find and if they have found anything, apparently it’s not convincing enough for them to take on the powers that be. But let’s get on this officer hitting the kid and breaking his noise and to top that off the kid gets it with a taser. What does the officer get? A few days off without pay. Then I notice on WBTW’s website that an officer in the state transports a suspect to jail in a truck, because he has no car, nor another officer with a car he can call for assistance and guess what kind of punishment that officer gets? HE LOSES HIS JOB. What the hell? So attention to the officers in the area, if your tired and need a little time off, go break a kids nose and tase him, you’ll get a few days to yourself, but whatever you do, don’t take that suspect to jail in a truck cause you’ll LOSE YOUR JOB.

And the other deputy that was involved now lives in my neighborhood so I am scared to let my kids go out and play, not for fear of any crime in the area, I’m more afraid of those deputy’s and what they might do to my kids. Neither one of them should be allowed to continue to work in law enforcement and the sheriff must not know that they are mixing it up with that ministry and their elusive leaders cause I’m sure if he did, he would put a stop to it, but what am I thinking, he’s the same person who didn’t fire the deputy’s for the beating.

a couple of things to our sheriff: you’re running a local police dept, not the national guard. if we need them, they will be called. perhaps they should be. 2. tazing the 17 yr old could very well have ended just like the 17 yr old who died in cheraw jail awhile back. i hope both depts end up sued & having to pay. how often do some police officers around here get out of control & run their mouths?

Was doing a little celebrating this weekend at the local watering hole and a little drama begin to unfold, when the dust settled, lady was dragged out of the bar and she wasn’t happy. I later find out that this chick is the bookkeeper for the solicitor, so I wonder if she’s got a job today? This ain’t the first time one of these solicitor girls got public either, a couple years back another one was involved in a disturbance at the same bar. I like it, these chicks live on the edge night & day.

My friend and I saw her, she was definitely living in the moment. My friend said this is the same lady that taught her dui classes at the solicitor’s office, now ain’t that special. Don’t know if she’s the bookkeeper or dui teacher but either way, don’t look good for that office. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy a social drink or two myself, but where I work, if I were to do something like that my supervisor would give me the option of quitting or getting fired, either way I would be out of a job.

Well, I say if the solicitor or whomever is in charge don’t can this lady, then the repercussions can be expected. There is but one way to handle it and Vincent Sheheen just did it himself. FIRE HER! One of his strategist got clocked for driving under the influence and instead of letting one person bring continuous harm to his campaign, he cut ties with the problem and rightly so. It also set a precedent, that if you screw around you’re gone. This solicitor should do the same thing, otherwise, he’ll pay the price over the length of his term and any effort he mounts to get re-elected. If I were in his shoes I would ask myself, “is she worth it?”

Well, that’s where you are wrong on two fronts.
#1 – it wasn’t Miss McLean who was disorderly at the bar, at least not this time, it was another.
#2 – the McLean family has long lost any influence they may have had in local politics as was proven by a rookie who unseated the former council woman Mrs. McLean. There is an uncle McLean who was elected to a town council seat in Cheraw in recent months, however, given his aptitude I think he is “under the influence” not of influence.
With all that being said, whether anyone has any political influence or not, the solicitor better be asking himself “is she worth it” because there are many opportunities being created under his fold for someone to mount a credible political run against him and it’s already hit the rumor mill. Another defining moment is awaiting a reaction.

While enjoying a fast food supper I had the privilege listening to an officer boasting of his comrades roughing up the juvenile a couple of weeks ago that resulted in a trip to the hospital and a tasing. Thank you sheriff for giving those officers such harsh treatment, it seems like they have really learned their lesson. The public would probably be safer in Arizona on the border than around here.

All of this just amazes me. I think it’s simply sad, that we are one of those areas where people just don’t care if anything changes or not. Guess they’re like me, rather just move than try to change anything.
Politicos here, generally speaking, are like cancer or AIDS. No cure & they just keep coming back. No treatment strong enough to rid the area of them for good.
The guy who originally ran against Parker would have been excellent for the job. Just goes to show most folks around here don’t want anyone decent. They’re more concerned with maintaining status quo.

So the solicitors girls are at again! I know for a fact Casey Moore who is now the PTI lady was arrested last year and charged with criminal domestic violence. It disappeared in the town court in Chesterfield. Then Jessica McLean was charged with DUI leaving Oslos there favorite hangout. Jessica’s mama, who got her butt kicked off the Marlboro County Council in June, and Jessica’s “significant other” Kenny Michael (who works in the solicitors office) showed off his shiny badge and they got it done away with. How is Will Rogers the new solicitor going to handle this one? More under the rug? Hey, don’t blame me I voted for Ervin.

Its been about 6 months since I last viewed this site, and it seems not much has changed. I had kinda forgotten about it since I left the Solicitor’s office for greener pastures (involuntary). While I worked with the former Solicitor and present, I became extremely confused with the latter. I was reminded of that confusion with a recent night out with the girls. While we were enjoying ourselves, one of my former work mates became very noticeable.. drunk. In the midst of the drama, I knew that she was well on her way to giving up a career, Why? Because it was only months before that, according to a current employee, they were told that their behavior outside the office was a reflection on the organization and they were expected to act professionally at all times. Well, guess it was all words which comes as no surprise. She’s still working. I miss my friends, but I don’t miss my job and I certainly don’t miss the confusion. I’m told that several others have since left and I completely understand because you just never really knew who was running the place. I’m enjoying a new career away from the drama now and life is finally good. I really enjoyed Judge Burch’s party and seeing some of my formers.

I remember both situations, how they were handled and how they both got off, so it comes as no big surprise that nothing has happened to the most recent casualty at Oslo’s. These women are train wrecks and to think that they are in management positions makes it even worse. Their “don’t do as I do, do as I say” attitude is really sending the wrong message, but I don’t fault them at all, they’ve been given the impression that it’s alright to conduct themselves like this, I fault the one who let’s them get by with it, he’s had a couple of years to straighten that office out, but it only seems worse. Like Right On, don’t blame me, I voted for Ervin.

Or is this just another issue that the legal system, in this county, lets go by turning “blind eyes” away. This could be the hangouts for the legal system when they are not on duty. And when the legal system is not on duty and “hanging out” are they enjoying the “adult beverages” THEN driving? If this is happening, then what is good for the goose is not good for the gander and we have an imbalance in justice. There was an editorial in the local paper awhile ago that stated the same as another sec.’s post. It concerned a former mayor & his alchohol issues. I fully agreed then & fully agree now.
I don’t think we’ll ever see a time in this area when what is good for the goose is good for the gander. The sense of entitlement is too strong & those in the political/upper class around here have gottn away w/ so much for so long.

It seems that most of the people posting should get their facts 100% straight before they mention names. Yes there is a certain amount of corruption I am sure in our county as there are in many other counties around this nation. But no one should mention names unless they know all of the details. I think that those without sin should cast the first stone and if that were true there would be no posts here.

cheraw mom is right, lots of people are just commenting without proof but there are posts here that list facts regarding our community leaders. Nothing happens to them because they control things around here, that’s the sad part. People of means don’t care because they either don’t get in trouble or pay their way out while the little people get abused by the system. Corruption runs deep in our community and its time for people to open their eyes.
I will say that if you feel so strongly in protecting innocent’s just remember all the innocent people that have been taken advantage of by our elected officials. Protect everyone by helping expose them!!

Anyway, the Cheraw police chief and the dog cop were there and they were talking about an incident that took place a couple days ago between a guy that used to work at solicitor’s office and a guy that still works there. After they left, another officer came in and overheard two other talking about it and the officer chimed in and he really let go on the chief, whom i now understand wants to be our future sheriff. Anyway, seems that there may be a power struggle between sheriff department, cheraw police department and the solicitor office and guess whose names came up? You guessed it.. that SOB is still at the center of it all.

I guess they were at both places at once? It’s easy to come on here and make up stories to try and stir up the mess but its alot harder to go out and make your town a better place to live in. I have heard from several people that the Michael character was the one doing the crying. In fact, my sources tell me that Michael was on the phone trying to justify his actions to the current solicitor in an effort to keep his job. Rumor has it that this is not the first time Michael has been showing off his weapon, badge, and turning on his blue lights. I suppose the current solicitor will keep him around until he and Bullard’s mug shot appears in the local paper for forgery and stealing. Why is Bullard not teaching classes any longer, and why is Michael’s laundry service not open for business? When you are broke and hit rock bottom, all you can do is fabricate stories in hopes that your laughable investigator title gives you a little credibility.

No one is going to trace IP addresses of any blogger on this site, UNLESS a viable threat is made on someone’s life or security. There are some bogus, vile and harsh blogs on this site, BUT there are a lot of frustrations being vented from individuals that are too scared of retribution for themselves or their families to post their real names. ME INCLUDED. There are some real issues, in this county, that are discussed that I feel will never be resolved. This beat will continue to go on-business as usual. Industry and business will continue to leave until the few that control remain in control of no one but themselves. Yes, Bojangles, Wendys etc will continue to be the court rooms of this area with nothing being settled and air being wasted.

Interesting article. When will this drama ever end? Altercations on Hwy 9, anyone who has ever been around Bill Overcash knows that he is not stable. What’s even more concerning is that he has a CWP! BTW, Overcash did serve on the board of MM but it was a long time ago. He fit right in to the “lame” requirement for service. The article also left out some of the more juicy details regarding the participants but I guess that should be expected as well. Hodge’s name was mentioned in the article but not to the extent of his participation in this specific event. I heard that Hodge was called to the scene and rode in the car with Overcash and the officer to the station where they had a closed door meeting with multiple officers. Not sure if Jay Brooks was one. Why was Hodge called to the scene? If the officer just told them to settle with the magistrate, why did Hodge even get involved? It all sounds very suspect to me but what doesn’t in this little town.

You who allow him to mold and direct you through his propaganda and led to believe that you are doing something noble. All the while, you are nothing but a conduit of his sewage. So many times in our history, we’ve seen this play out over and over again. The conduits have shown a need for attention and empowerment and the narcissist feeds that need. Think you’re not being used representative, sheriff, police chief, solicitor, business person, citizen? Think about this, in your sub conscience a seed has been planted by the narcissist, occasionally he only has to “water it” and you, almost like a robotic machine, carry out his wishes. At the end of it all, you’ll find that narcissist and you’ll find those he used, they’re disappointed with themselves for haven fallen under his spell, but by then it is too late, they’ve inflicted their damage, they’ve caused the hurt and the narcissist has accomplished his goal.. to use you as his arrow with the poisoned tip. I had stopped reading the local papers but I checked out this story. Had it been anyone else, they would have gone to jail.
Really shocked at another story about the animal control officer. I have nothing bad to say about him, don’t know how he kept himself together as long as he did with that job.
Why not just shut down the police depts, animal shelter, solicitor’s office, anything related to gov. in this area? I’m from here & all I’ve ever seen is one gov. agency after another fail in this area. Worst of all is we hear practically nothing from them about this, no explanations, no answers, nothing.

As long as Hodge, Matt and Vick have a say around her, there will be no “Justice for All”.
This is an example of the leadership and law enforcement in the area. NONE!!!!!!!
You are correct, if it had not been Hodge’s boy-toy Overcash, who did the threatening, the offender would be under the jail.
Of course, if the cops really thought Michael had been the threatening party, he would be in jail. you don’t mess with Jays’ boyfriend!

I agree with Reverend Re-Post. Brain stain hit the nail on the head, he or she really peeled back the layers to all this and got right to the center of things. All roads lead back to one central figure and if you’ve done any reading on here at all, you know who that is. Read Brain Stain’s post again and think about it.
At the very nucleus of this matter, you’ll find a narcissists who, in an effort to draw attention away from himself, to empower himself, and to justify himself, has drawn these other individuals whose names are often mentioned in these posts, into it’s drama and uses them to carry out his deeds. Case in point, the recent episode involving the current solicitor employee and past solicitor employee. The very deeds that this narcissist refuses to do, or is to weak to do himself he delegates to those within his camp. These issues are just as much moral, then political. What man runs for office, misuses *state* and *charity* funds for personal gain ei… to pay personal credit card payments for trips over seas, to redesign his historic home, for expensive meals and dinning. You know who? Jay Hodge. I can’t even get a job because this man has my last name and reputation ruined. I am not even affiliated with the solicitor’s office or mercy ministries. Yet, he uses his connections because he has shit on Ted Vick, John Spratt, Vincent Sheheen, etc… Doesn’t matter what education I have or experience, Hodge continues to ruin my life, families life, and others all around this county and beyond. If people would use their energy in calling the governor and local FBI offices and express their concerns over this wicked, sick man. Then this case would be a file in a storage room with completed written on it. You really want this man behind bars? then do you part to protect and see that it happens. The cheraw police department is just as bad. I have been followed and intimidated for the last time. Bloggers and comment leavers, I am telling you to take a stand for once, not in the comment sections. But take a stand and contacted authorities. This has been going on far to long. Get off your ass and do something constructive in this case.

it’s obvious that the post above by The Real Big Bubba is Hodge. it reads straight from his simple, immature sense of humor. his mimic of spellings fits his mold of retardation. i guess that’s why he and Overcash make such a cute couple, they are both “special”. did Overcash finally finish his tech courses? the solicitor’s office sure invested a lot in his education. county tax dollars well spent if you ask me. i am sure he is on the payroll for Mercy Ministries by now. i guess that would be to confrontational for the local paper to ask seeing as how they don’t want to offend anyone. a charity set up for our area that fly’s under the radar doing nothing for the community operating with a free pass from the charities commission. how does renting out space to local vendors apply to a non-profit? again, i guess that would step on the wrong toes so the paper can’t ask. when will this community wake up and take a stand?

I agree that it is not right to throw darts at the Michaaels. They are such nice, honest Church-going people, especially Mildred. The boys have always done right by their mama, except maybe when they had her name in the paper several months back for foreclosure. She really should not let them put land in her name. Anyway, at least the boys wives, Tanya and Teresa are nice to her. As for stealing people’s money, I just don’t beleve any of that. Rodney is the loan man and he has promised my mama that he would pay her back every cent. Course, when you have two Mercedes and a BMW in the family, it might take them awhile. I must respond to the last post, I think that you are right the Michael’s will be recognized for what they have done for this community but I don’t think its in the way you think. Lets start off by Rodney Michaels taking money that was given to him to invest and then when the people came wanting their money he told them it was all gone. Then we have Mildred whom I believe to be a good woman but she had some property in her name and it was forclosed on which could happen to anyone but where the problem comes in is they did a short sale to their grandson cameron which causes the bank to lose money on the original loan. Then we have Kenny Michaels and his wife who did recieve almost $24000.00 in checks from Mercy Ministries, Kenny got paid for backhoe services which i find that hard to believe since he doesn’t own a backhoe, and his wife got paid for cleaning and we all know that she wouldn’t strike a lick at work. Here is how the Michaels world is changing: Rodney’s and his wife Tonya’s pretty red Mercedes Benz just got repo’d two weeks ago. Rodney and Tonya will be facing several lawsuits that have been filed against them and their families companies. The Michael’s are having trouble paying their bills therefore their properties are being forclosed on. It even goes beyond the michael family, since Charlie Rose former Mayoral candidate got involved with the michaels he has spent most of his money and has had his house on market street forclosed on. And I was told that Kenny went into the Cleaners that he was leasing to someone else to run and kicked the man out and changed the locks and now people can’t get their dry cleaning out of the store. I think Kenny may have skipped a very important part of the process LIKE THE EVICTION PROCESS. So I agree that the Michaels will be recognized for their work in the community and it has just started.

Ok everyone needs to worry about their lives and thier problems. Ya’ll are cutting way too deep into the Michael’s personal lives. “Who is without sin cast the first stone”…that is what everyone needs to live by.

I must say you really are a brave soul to post such personal information about the Michael’s. If all of that information is true you have a storm coming to you. God will protect his children and he will protect the Michael’s so I would be careful would you post. How would you feel if people posted your dirty laundry? Motsy Michael is a nurse so she does work. Mrs Mildred is one of the most God loving, church going, and honest people I have ever met. These issues have nothing to do with her…or the entire Michael family. It’s quite sad that you have to dig deep into their personl life and post these issues. How would you even know that they are ‘having trouble paying their bills’? Do you see their bills and bank statements? No, you dont. Oh, and why would you feel the need to bring Charlie Rose into this mess? As I said before you are such a brave soul. As for the cleaners you really missed that one by a long shot. Their real estate company is very successful. People should be jealous of their succes. They have a good strong family who does stand behind them. No one was bragging about their ‘luxury’ cars. I can’t say I have ever taken the time to respond to a site such as this but I feel that it is necessary. I have read numerous posts about the Michael family here in Cheraw and for the most part they were pretty negative and down right mean. I am posting this from the viewpoint of a client and friend. I just recently gotten to know the Michael’s through the sell and purchase of a home. I can honestly say that they are the most caring, honest and trustworthy people I know yet there are people on here who analize their every move. I would just like to know who’s business is their financial status to anyone. Why should their personal lives be of any interest to anyone other than the Michaels? I know that these people are good hardworking members of our community and they do not deserve the comments that have been posted.

I think the Michael’s financial business is anyone’s business who entrusted money to them and they used it for their own personal use. If someone gave me $500,000 I could drive a Mercedes. And to the ones that are saying we shouldn’t be talking about the Michael’s then I say to you, it is very clear that the Michael’s have been talking about people on this site for months and all they have been doing is making up lies or repeating them. I really think turn about is fair play. So how do you like it for a change. Maybe the FBI should look into the Michaels for the Federal laws that Rodney may have broken while cheating all of those people out of their money. So, I suggest that if you have given Rodney Michael’s any money to invest for you please let the FBI know about it. Since he used it for his own use he should have claimed it as income therefore he should have paid taxes on that money, Hopefully the IRS is still in town too.

Stop drinking the Kenny Kool-Aid and recognize that we are talking about a half a million dollars that has been misappropriated by the entire Michael family. The order signed by the Assistant Attorney General speaks for itself, and it clearly specifies the misappropriations. The most comical part of this late breaking bombshell is that these misappropriations were a surprise find, and have nothing to do with the series of bombshells that lie ahead.
To OhNoNotAgain, I would not be surprised one bit if that were the case. The FBI is well aware of the finger pointers who has had them on a wild goose chase, and I am sure they don’t appreciate having their time and resources wasted.

Yep as you would guess the proof is right there. elogicxsolutions is owned by Mr Micheals and if you go to the site it features all of their other businesses and if you check out whois.net for registration info on the url it is hosted on the exact same server as all the other sites such as cherawconfidential, cherawchatter, and ted vicks and will rogers sites. Nothing illegal about all of this just pointing out that this is all connected and he was planning on using this site to spill dirt on others but got busted!

As you can see, North Carolina offers a free public search of all offenders, and he is far from 40. Keep up the good work Inspector Gadget, but it is going to take more than lies and finger pointing to sway the attention away from the bombshells that are in the process of being dropped on the Michaels’ and Associates.

Yes, Bill Overcash (aka William Harold Overcash) does have a record in NC. His boyfriend Jay was only able exsponge his record in SC, not so in NC. Similar charges here in SC that show on the above link for NC ( DUI, petite larceny, receiving stolen goods). I guess it pays to be doin’ what used to be the “big” law man in the county. Only trouble with that is like I heard at the courthouse today.. If Hodge had as many stickin’ out of him as he’s had stuck in him he’d look like a porcupine!!!

Well, despite my wife’s objections here go I, and JT before you start, no I’m no Michaels. I know the Michaels but I only like two of them. Thats Rodney and his mommy. I’m sure Rodney has done some wrong, so have I, but I also know Rodney has done some right. I got to know him about 10 years ago when I was going through a crisis, he helped me save my home, bought groceries for me and my family, lended me a car and listened to me when I needed it most. Last year when I lost my job he gave me $500 and to this day every time I mention paying him, he tells me to spend it on my family. Ever time I talk to him he ask me is there anything he can do for me and I know he means it because of what he has done for me over the years. I know some people will take what i write and try to turn it around, but thats ok, I’m writing this for Rodney. I’m sure he would do the same for me.

Let’s compare notes. Our ex-solicitor (Hodge)hired a convicted felon (Bill Overcash), put him in charge of pre-trial intervention(rumored to have misappropriated those funds), let taxpayer dollars pay for his Tech schooling that he couldn’t complete, rented him an apt (Ha-Ha), covered up as much of his troubled past as possible (in SC, not NC), took him on trips including a cruise on the QEII.
Our current solicitor ended his employment within a couple of months of taking office. Now I ask you good people of Chesterfield county, which one made a better choice for us?

W.F. I am glad he was generous to you and well intentioned. But really how hard is it to give money to someone when the money probably isn’t his to give away in the first place. I am not saying that he is evil but 1. he did wrong. 2. He tried to divert the truth by building tell all sites to spill dirt on others 3. He has come in here under different identities to rebuild his tarnished image 4. He has committed many questionable if not illegal actions both as a loan company owner and as a real estate person which at the time he knew to be wrong. But he felt the need to cheat someone. For example If a man kills another man then takes his wallet and donates $10 out of the dead man’s money to a charitable cause is he a Saint?
Glad you had a good experience with him however he was giving you money not the other way around.

You do have wisdom about this “trash” that is going on up in Cheraw and Chesterfield county. I do appreciate your insight. You probably have made more sense than 75% of the blogger. Some ramble on, some are covering their own rears by pointing at someone else and some are kin by blood or marriage. Your words are chosen wisely that is easily noted. I am sick of lame threats, promises etc. No one is going to be in trouble, if they have not done no more than expressed an opinion, right or wrong. This is the beauty of the USA. There has been threats of retrieving these blogs and “hammering” the blogger. BALONEY. I am sure that no one will be bothered by opinions UNLESS a viable threat of harm is made.
I am tired of this double standard in this county and elsewhere. If I had ripped off people for the amount of money that is alleged, in the blogs above, I would be under the jail and my name smeared to “high heavens”. If I used alcohol and got caught driving while impaired. I would be in jail unlike others that have been excused due to friendship. If I worked for the public and was paid by taxpayors and would have even thought of some of the issues that have been addressed or more, once again, you got it—under the jail. What is worse than all of this is the insiders that are “ratting out” their peers just to keep the spotlight off of their rear end. Even after the peers created the jobs for the rats. I am not posting names of the above “issues” but just about anyone up in Cheraw can name someone that has and is still involved with everything that I have named. When will it stop??? Wow it sure does get quiet around here when Michaels and his many identities lay low. Where are his minions today? There are a few of the 24 investors that are really heated up about this thing. I don’t believe they are gonna let it rest. You got to give his wife and kids credit though, they are holding their heads up high and taking care of business even though it was him that tarnished their name. Read the article in The Link today, what wonderful people to have cared enough about others to establish that trust. I’m sure they would be very disappointed in how Jay Hodge has carried on their legacy since taking over control of Mercy Ministries. The fact that funds designated for charitable organizations in our county are still frozen is a shame. The rumors of the continuing misuse of funds and equipment,as well as renting shelter space to businesses only adds to the ongoing mystery behind Mercy Ministries and their mission. Many years of working around and watching Hodge operate in our courthouse only leads me to believe that something is not right with the entire Mercy Ministries ordeal. Anyone who has ever had any dealings with him knows what a publicity hound he is and now that doesn’t have the solicitor job to keep him in the public eye, why not use his position as president of MM to brag about their good deeds. I think because he doesn’t want anyone messing with his goose that lays the golden eggs.

1st of all, if you haven’t noticed, Cheraw has become a landing spot for gay’s North of Key West. Not to get into semantics but the ad says gay or gay friendly. I’m not judging just stating facts. Not up to me to decide what’s right or wrong but that just seems like smart business to me. I don’t support anyone who has broken the law either but at least Michael went to the proper authorities and made a statement. I still haven’t read anywhere that he has been charged with theft. How do you know that he hasn’t paid portions if not all of the loan back? Are you one of the investors?
I assure you that Hodge has committed(still committing) similar wrongs but thinks he can continue to fly under the radar. I am sure he feels empowered to do so but things are still happening with the federal investigation. His time will come as well. Hodge won’t be a favorite in prison according to your description above “O”, everyone knows that Overcash is the pitcher and Jay is the catcher!LOL

I agree that whatever a person does in the privacy of their own home is their business unless it involves harming someone. I don’t think that is the issue here. After reading the past few exchanges between JT and Eye Spy I think the whole question of Gay came up because Eye Spy made a derogatory and insensitive Gay remark, and then JT pointed out that Eye Spy, who seems to be yet another persona of one of the Michael’s, is making gay remarks when in fact his business is trying to attract the same types of people.( see this link I posted many days ago found during a Google search http://southcarolinagayrealestateagents.com/agent-profile.php?agentId=12019&addId=3236 ) So I too wonder how you can cater to a certain type of clientele on one hand and them make insensitive remarks on the other.

So when this debate came up and people started leaving their opinions on the goings on involving Rodney Michael, it appears that he was routed out as to having more than one persona on here to run to his own defense and show an imagined cast of supporters,some real some not perhaps, as well as running or trying to run or develope other websites such as CherawConfidential to subvert information while trying to appear as a third party outsider, And to try and steer this blog back to concentrate on the whole Hodge thing. So yes this circus has many rings, the center ring may be the Hodge scandal, but as in any good circus there are many other clowns that capture our attention in the other rings! Here’s to Mr. Michael being an entertaining clown!

Thanks for the reply, Captain. I can only say that I hope all political, etc. offices involved w/ anything can get their acts together. I’m tired of seeing kids & really the entire community lose & suffer because of all this.
Praying to see this area move foward, not just the area, the entire state. It’s one embarassment after another.
From MM to the animal shelter, lot of suffering going on due to senselessness, greed, and hypocrisy, not to mention sense of entitlement & closed minded beliefs.
Here’s to moving foward & positive change. Pray it happens.

Wow its been a bit quiet in here, where are all the regulars( those who are not Rodney Micheals or his family) It’s amazing to go back and read the different posts from just a few short weeks ago and it seems some of the most heated points of view have fallen off the radar and no longer post, or maybe their creator has forgotten the numerous identities he has created. Case in point.
Eye Spy, W.T.F., Cheraw Resident, Cat On A Hot Tin Roof, The Fudge Master, Jay Fudge, Cheraw Confidential, Wowwee, Blewett Falls, Old Timer, Get the facts straight, Ms Summer, and so many more. Sort of like Rich Little in here!
These all seem to have some eerie similarities. All have posted long and loud in support of the Michaels and then disappear. They all seem to have insider info on them such as who pays their car payments, whether or not their business is succesful, etc… One even seemed to know the inner workings of their Gay marketing.And all of them seem to think that the rest of us are just jealous of them and that Rodney has done no wrong. Eye Spy seems to know that Rodney even went to the proper authorities to make a statement, Uhmm that’s usually because when you get a subpoena from the State Attorney General you don’t have a choice. And the statement he made was an admission of GUILT!
So safe to say that most if not all of these identities are the work of one person or one couple. I may be my own best friend but I least I have 1 friend!! Eye Spy or whoever you are this time, If you were double jointed you would probably stab yourself in the back!

Sittin in the airport had some time to check out the ole Fitsnews on the laptop. I have to admit when looking back at the messages I have posted, they seemed to get more and more malicious. I need to point out a couple of things.
I do not have a personal axe to grind. This started out as a place to add your opinions on what is going on in our town. So when I added my 2 cents I found that immediately posts were being made in defense of Mr. Michael and that we should all be jealous of him etc.. I could see right away that it was so transparent that it was indeed himself creating these other identities to repair his image and to cast our attention back to the Hodge scandal by beating that drum harder. These made me realize that
1. He was more worried about his image than he was about doing wrong.
2. He was not sorry in the least for what he had done.
3. He was even trying to make a buck out of the whole thing by creating these other websites to get people to visit them. So this made me upset that someone could be this flagrant in the wake of what he has done. So I noticed that my posts got “meaner” I apologize that they got on the side of mean-ness rather than just my opinions on the facts. I guess I got caught up in the heated exchanges between He and I.
The facts of the situation in and of themselves point out the wrongness of his actions. I am sorry that as a citizen of this town and county that he has not shown remorse.
Also the fact that he doesn’t know who I am, he doesn’t know If I am male or female. But it is really funny to see his powers of deduction to try and figure out that someone with the identity of JT would have a first name also with the same letter, that is hilarious. I would think that anyone who wanted any kind of privacy could choose from the other 20 something letters in the alphabet to hide under. So umm it’s not that obvious dude, but nice try. Give me a little more credit than that.
But anyway … I placed my opinions in a public opinion forum. was attacked by other identities of Mr. Michael, did some research and found out that his support group in here is just himself. And in defending myself and shedding light on his mis actions here I got too mean in my responses.
You are still a crook and should be and probably will be punished for what you have done. I would work a little on being remorseful or at least try to appear to be remorseful.

JT, I think all that any of us want in this town or anywhere for that matter is to have justice served to those who have done wrong. If Rodney has broken the rules, then he will have to deal with the consequences. I know for a fact that Hodge, Vick, Finch, Lee, Hunter, Overcash have. Obviously, members of the police dept had something to do with the “chop shop” that has been referenced in this forum. To many tales for some of it not to be true. Yet, nothing can be done/ has been done about that for fear of retaliation from the powers that be. That’s my only beef with your constant focus on the Michael’s.

I have just about come to the conclusion that we all know what is going on with the “local mafia” and propobably nothing is going to be done. JT, you and I know that if we would have committed the fraud, that Mr. Michael has been accused of, we would have been “crucified”. This must be true according to the simple 2nd page story that was reported on the local news and the AG report. We would have been on the front page. Eye spy, you too, have the wisdom to understand that if you stick you neck out too far with the ones that you have named, you will be hung. SO, what is the answer, probably NO ANSWER AND NO END TO THE ISSUES AT HAND. Just a thought.

I can see where ole JT is coming from. It was obvious from the get go that Mr. Micheals indeed has been visiting here under assumed names trying to rally some support for himself. So it is safe to say he is reading these statements and knows the sentiments of fellow citizens, however instead of making a plea or an apology instead he has tried to stir up the pot by jabbing at JT and any others who have spoken out against him, its hard to stir the sh*t when you are up to your neck in it.
If someone was guilty of doing something and withdrew from society and waited for this thing to blow over is one thing, however, someone who does not feel bad about their actions and instead goes on the attack well that shows a total lack of character. So no one is really dissing on the Micheals they are just responding in kind to his actions in this forum.
The websites he tried to promote and was ratted out shows the kind of person who is not one bit sorry for taking advantage of these people.
A righteous man would make amends and admit his errors.

Don’t really know any of them except to see their photos around town on signs or coming/going from the office downtown. The same assumption could be made of you and JT but no one will ever know will they.
How about if the other sites Rodney was setting up exposed more details on corruption in this town? Do you have something to hide and were concerned?
Your last comment regarding a righteous man admitting his errors is very profound. The only problem with that concept is that the corrupt people ( Hodge and Co. ) discussed on this site feel no remorse, only anger for being exposed. They feel a right of entitlement and have convinced themselves they have done no wrong nor feel any remorse as you state above.
It appears that Rodney has been exposed and will have to deal with the consequences. With that said, you and JT need to focus on the other corruption that continues to be the main focus of our area and that central figure is Jay Hodge. Now, get to work.

Umm being deceitful would be scamming several people out of hundred’s of thousands of dollars, as well as losing one’s real estate license for questionable behavior. Again another attempt from you to fan the smoke of your misdeeds and try to waft them over to someone else.
As far as being challenged, I can read a post and tell when it was posted and by whom. My post was from August 20 th at 1:05 pm I copied JT’s post from August 16th at 1:13 So maybe its like 4 days and 8 minutes you fool!! LOL.
