By FITSNews || Charleston, S.C. lieutenant gubernatorial candidate Ashley Cooper has raised $100,000 in just two months of campaigning, a release from the Lowcountry lawyer’s campaign said Monday.
“As of today, we have collected more than $100,000 in donations,” said campaign advisor Lachlan McIntosh. “Support for Ashley is building because he’s the only candidate in this race offering a plan to change the status quo in Columbia.”
Frankly, as a rich lawyer at Nelson Mullins (which reportedly likes to push its employees to pony up cash for its candidates) we’re shocked that Cooper hasn’t raised more jack than this.
Who knows? Maybe he’s waiting on former “Republican” Speaker David Wilkins to throw him a fundraiser.
Cooper jumped into the race back in January and is the only announced Democratic candidate.
Three candidates – Florence County Councilman Ken Ard, Orangeburg Attorney (and Afghan War vet) Bill Connor and Charleston lawyer Larry Richter – are running as “Republicans,” although as far as we can tell only Connor is serious about protecting the taxpayers.

Another sleazy lawyer like Richter.
We do not need criminal lawyers in our elected office. It takes true leadership.

Exactly how would Connor “protect taxpayers” as you say? This position hasn’t been given any further duties that I’m aware of. Preside over Senate, cut some ribbons, watch the office on aging, and contemplate a run for higher office. Where in that description is protector of the taxpayer please tell me??

Larry Richter thinks he can NOT show up at Lt Gov forums and sit home and buy this race. That will not happen! Ashley Cooper will be eviscerated by the only true leader in the race for Lt Governor.

Hey Robert Cahaly,
Can you say “Rule tax increases out of order”?
Nah, your guy dropped out of college. He wouldn’t be able to handle procedure.
