What Republicans Can Learn From Nancy Pelosi

By FITSNews || In case we haven’t made it abundantly clear, we can’t stand Washington politicians … or socialists.

But we repeat ourselves …

Truth be told, we would rather set fire to poison-tipped arrows and then shoot them directly into our eyeballs than say something nice about most Washington politicians – particularly the reigning queen of the socialist front, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Pelosi represents everything that’s wrong with where this nation is headed, from her Marxist economic views to the sort of arrogance she habitually displays – the kind of arrogance that assumes its okay to insist on Gulfstream jets and run up exorbitant liquor tabs on the taxpayer’s dime during the worst economic recession in eight decades, for example.   She’s also no different than most hypocritical Washington pols, as her party also ran on restoring fiscal sanity and “draining the swamp” in D.C. of corruption four years ago – only to turn around and spend money at an unprecedented clip as the scandals continued unabated.

Eat, drink and be merry, right?

Of course, as cataclysmically wrong as Pelosi is on literally every pressing issue of the day (and as thuggish as her party has become in pressing its socialist agenda), there’s something about her that we have to begrudgingly admire as she celebrates the legislative triumph that will for better or (hopefully) worse define her political career.

Specifically, we have to admire the fact that Pelosi – even after President Barack Obama and his chief of staff Rahm Emanuel had given up on their signature health care reform bill two months ago – somehow managed to pick up the pieces and shove a piece of legislation through the U.S. House that a majority of the American people clearly didn’t want passed (and that a majority of the House of Representatives clearly didn’t want to vote for).

Do we agree with the methods she used to get it done?  Hell no.  Do we wished she’d joined Barack and Rahm’s “pity party?”  Hell yes.

But she didn’t.

“We will go through the gate,” Pelosi said in January. “If the gate is closed, we will go over the fence. If the fence is too high, we will pole vault in. If that doesn’t work, we will parachute in. But we are going to get health-care reform passed.”

Unfortunately for the future of this country, she was true to her word – but there’s something to be said for that, isn’t there?

Now don’t get us wrong, this bill will go down as one of the all-time worst pieces of legislation this century.  Also, Democrats have basically rewritten the Congressional rules to pass this monstrosity, bastardizing parliamentary procedure in the House and effectively killing the filibuster in the Senate.  In fact, never again will these socialists … err, Democrats … be able to block legislation that they find offensive on such a day as they find themselves out of power, “such a day” which cannot come soon enough as far as we’re concerned.

But here’s the point.

Pelosi made it clear that she was going to ram this bill through in spite of the political risks – and that’s exactly what she did.

Now … if only Republicans were capable of showing the same sort of commitment to the principles that their party is supposed to stand for, maybe this disaster could have been averted.

Seriously, Newt GingrichGeorge W. Bush … we’re talking to you.

One thing is clear, though … without the aversion to political consequence and singular focus Pelosi displayed in passing this abortion, Republicans will never accomplish their short-term goal of repealing it, to say nothing of the larger struggle that goes with putting America back on the path that once made it the envy of the world’s civilizations.

One question, what does the Republican party stand for fiscal conservatism, social conservatism, or both?

I don’t think she should be admired for it.

It’s like giving Hitler credit for being persistent.

Admired might be the wrong term but the Repubs need someone like her. This is now the way the game will be played. We cannot tolerate faint of heart RINO’s anymore. We have to have folks with a set. Soon.

Until the Republican party finds its core values, that can never happen.

And, for the record….”cutting taxes” cannot be the only value espoused and adopted.

Very true Big T. Also, there are no consequences for Pelosi. I think she would have to murder a gay dude on national tv with his mother standing there while stopping on a kitten before SF votes her out.

Here’s the problem with all Repubs arguments against Health Care Reform. It’s the radical hyperbole you use to describe everything when you don’t win. I’m not saying the Dems don’t do it, because they do. The difference is at this Time and place in America’s history EVERYTHING you say or do it on the internet in nano-seconds. Because Repubs keep screaming (either thru fake grass roots movements or by endorsement of seemingly radical groups) the only thing American’s see on their “Magic Box In Time” (tv). is a bunch of crazies saying the President is Hitler, Nazi, Angel of Death, Baby Killer, etc. etc. Repugs are not putting forth ANY alternatives to Dems ideas. And the endless whining, Shut Up Already and form a cohesive conservative message (normal) people understand. Of course Healthcare is going to cost more but Repubs can’t tell the American People what they are giving up to insure Americans have Healthcare. Stop hanging out with Tea Party People (you don’t have the same message). Tone down some of your members rants. And while I know it’s not entirely your fault PLEASE stop people like Bachmannn, Beck, Limbaugh and others deliver your message. I will Shut The Hell Up now as I don’t believe Repubs hear anything except radical right rantings.

The socialist majority has nothing to worry about in November. The message from Sunday is that there are no longer any rules, no longer any limits on the party in power.

How do you think Pelosi bought votes from congressmen who knew the voters would throw them out in November? She promised them their seats. And how was she able to do that? By promising them that they don’t need to worry about the democratic process anymore. And how can they make that guarantee?

I don’t know the answer to that question, but look for some changes in federal election law here in the next several months.

Unlike the Republicans she succeeded, she knows she has a very safe seat in San Francisco. She will be reelected. On the other hand, she may not be back as Speaker, which probably makes her the worst Speaker in the history of her party given the bloodletting that is coming for Democrats this Fall.

Since 1968 christians, independents, small business, and conservitives have been voting republican(42 years)Republicans promised to cut spending, abolish the debt, bring prosperity.Instead they embraced Wall Street. They’re deregulation of Wall Street destroyed our economy as well as the economy of Western civilization!
And you want to elect more of these people?
Neither party is going to save America.
You have to have character! How do we get character? Who defines good and bad? God does! Without the Lord you aren’t going to do anything/you will NOT save America.

Mohanna, great try at reasoning this deal out. Problem is that the majority of America didn’t want the bill. Rationalize that into November and it still won’t be what we wanted. However, from the Democrat leadership it is what we needed. We are just too dumb to understand that. We won’t be that dumb in November.

“One question, what does the Republican party stand for fiscal conservatism, social conservatism, or both?”

It stands for Big Business and Bible Thumpers. Anyone else is just along for the ride, especially Libertarians.

The Dems are MUCH worse, but it’s a race to the bottom.
