Kucinich Flips On Health Care Vote

By FITSNews || Just days after reiterating his opposition to President Barack Obama’s socialized medicine proposal, uber-liberal U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich (a.k.a. Gollum from Lord of the Rings) has flip-flopped and said that he will vote in favor of the bill.

The former Democratic presidential candidate had previously said that Obama’s proposal “didn’t go far enough,” although a flight on Air Force One and a presidential visit to his district have apparently turned him around on the issue.

On Sunday, Kucinich wrote a column in Sunday’s Cleveland Plain Dealer outlining his opposition to the bill.

“Absent a strong public option or legal protection for states that wish to pursue single payer, the bill that the president is proposing is a step in the wrong direction,” Kucinich wrote. “Even with the few modest improvements in the bill, the insurance companies will still have dozens of loopholes to deny care and continue to find ways to leave Americans with the unpayable bill.”

Three days later, though, Kucinich will join Obama in taking this “step in the wrong direction.”

“After careful discussions with President Obama, Speaker (Nancy) Pelosi, my wife Elizabeth and close friends, I’ve decided to cast a vote in favor of the legislation,” Kucinich said Wednesday.

Alright, alright … we can understand the Elizabeth thing.

The good news?

Five Democrats announced Tuesday that they are voting against the bill, meaning that opponents of the legislation only need to locate 11 more votes to defeat the proposal.
