Calling All Lawmakers

health care rally michele bachmann

By FITSNews || Tea party activists shut down phone lines in Washington D.C. with a barrage of calls urging lawmakers to vote against the latest socialized medicine push by the administration of President Barack Obama. Opponents of the legislation also held a rally outside of the U.S. Capitol urging lawmakers to “kill the bill.”

“I think it’s a flip of a coin right now whether it will pass or not,” Rep Michele Bachmann (R-Minnesota) told several thousand activists at the rally.

Democratic leaders in the House – led by Rep. John Spratt (D-South Carolina) – are attempting to ram the legislation through that chamber using a procedural maneuver known as “reconciliation,” which is typically reserved for budget votes.  Assuming the bill clears the House, the maneuver would enable the controversial legislation to pass through the Senate under rules that strictly limit debate – and specifically eliminate filibusters.

That means Obama wouldn’t have to buy off any additional Senators off with glorified bribes (here and here) – and makes the House vote critical.

Currently, Obama doesn”t have the 216 votes he needs to pass the $1 trillion (some say $2-3 trillion) legislation, but Republicans don’t have the votes needed to block it either.

Nearly $200 million has been spent on ads related to the health care bill over the past thirteen months, with Obama’s forces enjoying a cash advantage over opponents of the bill.

Spratt is going down in November, there is no way the 5th district will put up with this any longer!

Spratt will more than likely win in November. As I stated before, he has helped too many people on the local level for them to turn their backs on him. I may be proven wrong, but Mulvaney just does not have the connections to beat Spratt. Too many others have tried and had the same results. And truth be known, constituant service is what it’s all about.

Ahhhh, you are correct. She is a loon. I like when she bitched and moaned about the census being so an intrusion into your life and how she wanted people to be skeptical of it, but when her staff told her that she was in danger of losing her seat due to reapportionment of the House districts by virtue of her district losing population, she did a 180. What an idiot. She belongs with Sarah Palin.
