SC House Candidate “Goes To The Mattresses”

mattresses

By FITSNews || Because most guys have seen The Godfather (and most girls have seen You’ve Got Mail), we sincerely hope that a refresher is not required for the term “go to the mattresses.”

If it is, then you can Google it on Urban Dictionary … we refuse to indulge such ignorance by providing you with a link.

Anyway, Bill Taylor – a candidate for S.C. House District 86 – is one person who obviously understands the basic idea behind the term.  Earlier this week, Taylor sent the state’s business leaders a postcard about his House candidacy that includes some of the most inartfully-worded, misleading and flat-out threatening language we’ve ever seen in a political communication.

In attempting to convince these big dollar to refrain from giving money to his opponent, S.C. Rep. Jim Stewart, Taylor boasts of his fund-raising advantage over the incumbent and warns the letter’s recipients that “Stewart’s re-election is just not a safe bet for you or your organization.”

Wait … what?

Read it for yourself on Taylor’s postcard:

Bill Taylor Postcard

Yikes.

So in other words, if you give money to Rep. Stewart, then prepare to have your kneecaps broken.

Look, we don’t know either of these candidates from a hole in the ground, but this isn’t just wrong – it’s totally misleading.

Why? Because of what Taylor’s postcard fails to mention:  Namely, the fact that he took out a $50,000 loan and cut his own campaign a $10,000 check, according to his campaign disclosure documents.

Hmmm … how’s that cash advantage looking now, tough guy?

I’m from Aiken and the place is totally covered in Bill Taylor signs. Sic, maybe if you stepped out of Columbia once in awhile you would know these candidates as something other than a hole in the ground.

Bill Taylor is working hard. He is always out at events and calling people. It seems the Stewart fans are getting a little antsy that Bill Taylor is working so hard for this House seat.

I’m supporting Bill Taylor because we need someone who speaks for us in Columbia. We need someone who is not afraid of making tough decisions and who at the end of the day is not in the pockets of big government and lobbyists in Columbia.

Can somebody call off the Bill Taylor spammers? Please?

Jesus Christ … like we said, IT’S A LOCAL HOUSE RACE, meaning we wouldn’t know either of these politicians from a fucking hole in the ground. Which we’re proud of, because it means we’re focusing on much more important things.

All we’re saying is it’s a douche move to go borrow 50K and then write a letter touting your 45K fund-raising advantage – a letter that includes a veiled threat to anybody who dares contribute money to the other guy.

Oh, and Maxine, by the way you have won our “How many cliches can you fit in one sentence?” prize. Congrats.

P.S. – Looks like Stewart got a “C” on the S.C. Club for Growth report cards. That’s better than most Republicans, but not good enough for our liking. Accordingly, if this Taylor guy stops going all Godfather on people and starts pledging himself to certain fiscally conservative policy positions, who knows? We might even end up endorsing his Sicilian ass.

I saw mattress in the headline and assumed we had another sex scandal on our hands.

Stewart first ran for the house in ’02 and has never had an opponent since, so he’s never had to campaign. Taylor is forcing Stewart to tell voters what he’s been doing. I live in Aiken County and I’m glad we finally have a race and a choice.

Hard work and leadership is what it takes in Columbia, district 86 hasn’t had that since 2002. More power to Bill. We’re all for him!

Aiken is a part of a Bigger Region. We have a huge Three-County region and it all Functions as One.

He’s raised 9K to date, a third of that came from two donor couples. Thirteen total donors. With 90 days to go, that’s all he’s done.

    That’s pretty funny.

Bill Taylor has nice hair like the wearwolf in that great song Wearwolfs of London.
