Pro-Life Dems: Obamacare “D.O.A.” In House

obamacare

By FITSNews || The Senate version of Barack Obama’s socialized medicine proposal – a.k.a. the basis for the President’s most recent incarnation of this anti-free market monstrosity – is “Dead On Arrival” in the U.S. House of Representatives, a coalition of pro-life Democrats said Wednesday.

That’s assuming language that would lift a decades-old ban on federal funding for abortions remains in the bill, anyway.

Led by Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Michigan), there are currently at least a dozen Democrats who would vote against the Senate bill – or more than enough to kill it.  Also, Obama’s hurdle for passage is higher now due to the fact that several “yes” votes have vanished since a version of the legislation passed the House by a narrow 220-215 margin just four months ago.

Rep. John Murtha died, while Reps. Neil Abercrombie of Hawaii and Robert Wexler of Florida both resigned.

Obama has challenged both Democratic-controlled chambers to schedule an “up or down” vote on his latest proposal prior to March 18, the latest in a long line of  missed deadlines on this legislation.

I’m sure Obama will send Rhammie to hound and stalk these poor Dems in the Congressional showers, until they cry “uncle!”

I understand Rhammie does a lot of “business” in the showers.

Ironic. If the Cradle-to-Grave-ObamaCare goes down in flames, it won’t be due to powerful Washington players or big money.

It will be the voices of thousands of unborn children and some brave Congressman who stood their ground concerning Federal Funding with Tax Dollars and those unborn children.

Babies and Taxes Dollars and Power. Who would have thought it?

    Or…….because the gay guy quit?

You are wrong. First, Parker Griffith voted against the bill the first time, so his switching parties has no effect whatsoever on the outcome of the bill.

Secondly, you are correct that Representatives Wexler, Abercrombie and Murtha are no longer around. However, one of those votes is canceled by the fact that Congressman Massa (a “nay” vote) resigned.

So, your assertion that four votes have disappeared is not really correct. One of those votes was not a vote. Three of them were, but one of them was canceled by Massa.

When the House voted last time, there were 435 members. That meant there had to be 218 votes for a bill to pass. There are now 431 members, which means you just need 216 now. If every Democrat who voted for the bill last time votes for it this time, the bill would pass 216-215.

That may not happen, but you are also ignoring the fact that fourteen “no” votes from last time have indicated that they are not sure how they will vote now (Altmire, Gordon, Nye, Baird, Tanner, Boucher, Boyd, Boccieri, Kosmas, Markey, Adler, Murphy, Davis and Matheson).

Combine that with the fact that Dale Kildee – a member of the Stupak bloc – has indicated he is now a yes vote, and you see that this is far from over. I don’t care about whether or not you believe the bill is socialism, but at least get your political commentary factually correct.

And when I say “every Democrat who voted for the bill last time”, I mean the ones who are still there.

Sorry Fits and all ya’ll who want to stick your noses into women’s reproductive organs: Bart Stupid has himself and all of three (that’s right 3, not 11, not 12, not 13) friends in his little pity party now trying to hold up the train and that isn’t gonna get it. Mark my words. It’s over. Health Care reform will pass (with a public option.)

Obamacare won’t pass, and the political circus show will cost Democrats their jobs.

It needs to be killed once in for all, it’s a terrible bill with nothing but bloat and confusion. I look forward to personally voting out every damn Politician that votes for this 2+k pages trash!

I have voted and followed politics since the JFK era and I have never seen a more arrogant threesome than Hussein Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi with their “my way or the highway”, shove it down your throat attitude.

it is NOT health care reform.

Humm, countryboy. I think you’ve forgotten Bush, Cheney, Rove, Rummsfeld.

  14. By countryboy March 11, 2010 at 10:22 am

Skid, I was referring to Presidents and the corresponding Senate Majority Leaders and House Speakers. Surely there have been many arrogant people in Washington but I don’t recall there being three leaders like this at the same time…

This is an interesting video clip of Senator Byrd who was opposed to Clinton’s Reconciliation attempts on the earlier attempt at Federalized Medicine. Just a bit more light on this topic and how the Obama Administration gets things done with Chicago style politics:

Senator Byrd is supporting this reconciliation attempt because the House of Representatives passed this bill 220-215 and the United States Senate passed it 60-40. It has already passed. Reconciliation is being used to provide an 11-page amendment to the bill that will deal ONLY with budgetary concerns. That is how reconciliation is designed to work. You may want to learn that…and the things I posted correcting FITS’ article…before you try to go to Washington. The last thing we need is another know nothing.

Obamacare will likely pass. However, the fall out will be immense and the democrats will take a huge political hit at the polls. It is not impossible to imagine the bill gets repealed by a subsequent Congress and President. Its an unpopular bill and I do not understand why the democrats made this their focus and not the economy. They could have done both by reversing their priorities.

I told Obama’s 1-202-456-1111 comment line on 3-11-10 that God said “it’s going to be like 93-94.” I’m not sure what it means but people are saying it was when repubs went in over Bill and Hillary’s steamrolling the voters..
I felt the operator didn’t believe me because she repeated, “God told you?” I said “Yes, and I don’t know what it means but thought I owed it to you to tell you.”

As newspapers will show and I recollect, people thought a National I.D. card was part of Hillary’s health bill and they are not talking of itnwo. However, I personally doubt the reason Verichip gave for a sudden jump in the value of their stock about 80%! Given most states have rejected a Nat.I.D., if it passed it wouldn’t work.
