Meg Whitman: The Anti-Sanford

By FITSNews || At last count, former eBay CEO Meg Whitman had sunk nearly $40 million into her campaign to become the next governor of California.

That’s a nice chunk of change … but it’s looking like every dime of it could be pissed away if her campaign doesn’t learn the basics of media relations.

Take a look at this cluster …

Don’t get us wrong, reporters (especially mainstream media ones) are annoying, agenda-driven, intentionally divisive assholes who ask a bunch of know-it-all questions looking for “gotcha” moments.  Duh.  And let’s be honest … this particular media account clearly overplays the storyline.

But still … inviting reporters to cover an event and then refusing to take their questions is begging for it.  And forcing them to leave the room? Sheesh …

If Whitman keeps this up, she may hand the California Governor’s Office back to the original Gov. Moonbeam.

Of course, for an example of the other extreme in media relations (a.k.a. therapy-by-journalist), we have the new Gov. Moonbeam.
