Bauer Switches Consultants

By FITSNews || S.C. Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer has parted ways with his top gubernatorial campaign consultant and replaced him with a controversial GOP activist from Tennessee.

Chris LaCivita – who gained fame during the 2004 presidential election by running the “Swift Boat Veterans for Truth” campaign – is no longer affiliated with Bauer’s campaign team.  Instead, the lieutenant governor has turned to former Tennessee GOP Chairman Chip Saltsman to serve as his top political strategist.

Sources in Bauer’s office refused to comment on the split with LaCivita, but a source close to Bauer’s campaign called the decision “mutual.”  The source also confirmed Saltsman’s hiring.

In addition to Saltsman, Bauer is currently being advised by longtime confidant Rod Shealy, Sr. and Columbia lobbyist/ consultant Larry Marchant.  He does not have a day-to-day campaign manager.

Saltsman, FITS readers will recall, landed in hot water during the 2008 campaign for chairman of the Republican National Committee when he sent several fellow Republicans a Christmas CD that included a racist parody song entitled “Barack the Magic Negro.”

Within a month, Saltsman was forced to withdraw from the race for RNC Chairman.

Clearly, Bauer doesn’t need any help when it comes to politically-incorrect commentary, but he does need help articulating some coherent, fiscally-conservative policy.

Well good for old “Barney Bauer”. Looks like the “Boy Blunder” realizes this campaign won’t be a walk in the park after all. He still won’t win and that’s probably a good thing for South Carolina.

Let’s play “Count the RINOs” in the photo above! There’s President George “Dubya” Bush, Lt. Gov. Andre “SC 2″ Bauer, SC Senator Jake “porkie” Knotts, and some other guy in the background. That’s at least 3 RINOs (possibly 4, using guilt by association).

thankfully Andre is self destructing

By Toyota Kawaski on March 9th, 2010 at 9:21 am

Chip will make Andre competitive for sure. Had to laugh the other day got a campaign email from Bauer said for a $22 donation i could get a 4×8 and for a $9 donation i could get a yard sign. WTH selling signs is it that bad now.

Is Jake fondling Andre while Andre can’t do a thing about it?

Lt. Gov. Bauer told Charleston GOP that he favors consumption tax over income tax as an equitable form of revenue. Glad to see someone gets it!

By WorkingTommyC on March 9th, 2010 at 11:36 am

John:

Haley and Bill Connor (Lt. Gov. candidate) also get the consumption tax idea.

The problem with Bauer is that he’s running because he thinks he’d make a good looking governor. He’s the Ken doll of the gubernatorial race–nothing but air between the ears.

Judgement he hath not–not even when his life depends on it:

He’s also all aboard with the “green economy” fascism that Lindsey Gaham is promoting with his cap and trade bill.

Why does Bauer need a day to day campaign manager. he uses his government staff, just like Converse Chellis, Henry MacMaster and Richard Eckstrom, etc.

Why pay for something yourself when the taxpayers will pay for it!

This isn’t going to add much ‘Credibility’ to Andrefusses struggling campaign. Andrea bow-wow Bower!

Big Dog’s bark tha Loudest!

People are already learning to ignore Mr. Bow-Wowzie.

Next thing He’ll get a pink and Purple Mohawk with Officer Dangle’s earrings, followed by buzz-cutting!

Can any consultant make him not be gay any more? Because being gay is going to hurt his election chances.

By Gen. Wade Hampton on March 9th, 2010 at 8:26 pm

I think Andre’ switches more than consultants.
Ask some of his classmates from Irmo!

By Sally Edwards on March 9th, 2010 at 8:28 pm

Um…Yea. What IS he going to do about the entire gay situation? It will come out and he will be outed. He can’t be gay in SC and win anything.

By WorkingTommyC on March 9th, 2010 at 9:04 pm

What about Lindsey Gaham?

By The Big Boogie! on March 9th, 2010 at 9:45 pm

You parrot that “Barak the Magic Negro” is racist. Have you ever heard the song?

By SC New Dems on March 10th, 2010 at 4:57 pm

Andre doesn’t deserve any more 2nd chances from SC voters. Why do we keep giving him a pass?? First the “strays” comment, now this, on top of all the rest of the headlines he’s made while in office?

Help put a stop to it now, call on Andre to fire Saltsman: http://bit.ly/bYVEOJ

What I know about Andre is that he helped put him and his sister through school when his mom was having a hard time. I know that he ran a paper route, salvaged golf balls and other things to make it work. He made some mistakes in judgement six years ago and now he is ready to move on. Andre wants to eliminate the income tax, the property tax and cut taxes on small business. He wants to cut the size of government way down and he has done a great job as Lt. Governor.
Did you know that he voluntarily furloughed his salary last year by half while continuing to work? I heard that he went on more than 20 international visits on behalf of this state when Sanford couldn’t go and he never went on the tax payers dime??? Paid his own way and remembers that he didn’t fly first class.
Boogy, You call him cheap? That’s the exact kind of person I want in charge of the taxpayers money. As for his choice of associates, It’s all about winning and while his consultants may have reputations of sorts, they are also extremely formidable opponents in the world of politics. He really needs people from within the Tea Party to look at his anti federal govt. stance and his committment to the power of the state. Andre has never lost a race, I’ll “betcha” this one is no different.

Well again south carolina has to fight to get the right person to handle our state affair’s. For those who never met Andre Bauer you have no idea how good he has been for this state and how much more he will be able to do as Govenor.

Not only canhe do this state good but the nation will gain by having a person who’s looking for smaller govenment for the state as well as washington. If you can’t handle having a Govenor who will keep our way of life from turning in a mess then maybe you should move to Detroit or some other place out of SC.

I have been all over the USA and found that this state is for better than any of the northern or even some of the southern states. Sure there is waste in SC that the reason we need Andre to be Govenor to stop the waste and clean out the “crap” in the state house.

Come November our state will be transform to and Obama Federal State if we don’t vote right. Look at the way our nation has gone down in less than two years with “The Obama Govenment of Democratic socialism way of taking over the nation. Whats next on his list of free interprize in America: Could be our right to vote like some other nation.

By susan chavis on June 2nd, 2010 at 8:49 pm

Y’all are kidding, right? Andre can no more lead the state of SC than Sarah Palin can lead the US. Please don’t give him more credit than he deserves. He is an embarrassment to our state, and so is Nikki Haley. McMaster is the only viable republican in the race.
