US Unemployment Rate: No Change
By FITSNews || The U.S. unemployment rate remained stuck at 9.7 percent for the month of February – while the broader “underemployment” rate in America rose to 16.8 percent (from 16.5 percent in January).
Of course, were it not for automatic “seasonal adjustments” incorporated by the U.S. Department of Labor a month ago, the unemployment rate in January would have risen to 10.6 percent, and the “underemployment rate” – which includes people who are so depressed with the job market that they’ve given up searching for work – would have climbed to 18 percent.
Over 8.4 million Americans have lost their jobs since the beginning of the “Great Recession” in December 2007.
In South Carolina, the most recent unemployment rate data is from December 2009. That report showed a record 12.6 percent of South Carolinians out of work.
The embattled S.C. Employment Security Commission will release South Carolina’s January 2010 unemployment figures on March 10, and its February numbers two weeks later.

Its getting ready to change…I am sure the president will get his jobs bill through.That should invigorate the country into a huge recovery.
It has inspired Boeing to build a special subsidiary to build flying pigs.

Liberty for me: I admire your optimism however I believe it is called naivete’.
It is getting ready to change for the worse, not better. I own a business and I turn down jobseekers EVERY DAY. I am lucky to keep the door open much less hire someone.
Obama’s (and Bush’s) bailout money hasn’t helped many “real people” only hypothetical people-on-paper and bankers, Wall Street thieves and Monopolists.
The only jobs he is funding are those CREATED to GROW government.
BACK TO UNEMPLOYMENT: Get real with the numbers! These statistics do not and have never included self-employed people. They lost their jobs FIRSST when the illegal aliens took over construction and landscaping jobs. i saw it with my own eyes over a two year period PRIOR to the collapse.
Who do they think they are fooling. These numbers are bogus.
