Crosby, Canada Ends USA’s Olympic Dream

By FITSNews || Less than a year after becoming the youngest NHL Captain to ever raise the Stanley Cup, Canada’s Sidney Crosby won Olympic gold for his country with an overtime goal against upstart Team USA.

Not bad for a kid who just turned 22, right?

Crosby – who plays for the NHL’s reigning Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins – slipped a short side wrist shot past Team USA goalie Ryan Miller nearly eight minutes into overtime.  Team USA had tied match at 2-2 with just 24 seconds remaining in regulation, and seemed on the brink of pulling off an improbable comeback to capture America’s first gold medal since the 1980 “Miracle On Ice” in Lake Placid, New York.

It wasn’t meant to be though.

Team USA goalie Ryan Miller – who plays for the Buffalo Sabres – was voted the most valuable player of the Olympic tournament.

Miller had a 1.35 goals against average and .946 save percentage in six games.
