By FITSNews || S.C. Policy Council President Ashley Landess visited the famed “It” Kids at Dutch Fork (Irmo, S.C.) High School on Friday, touting her organization’s push for government transparency and market-based economic development – and introducing her new website, The Nerve.
It was the second visit Landess has paid to the “It” Kids, who have become something of a South Carolina political institution – as well as a “must-stop” for all of South Carolina’s important politicos.
Over the last few years, teacher Kelly Payne – who is currently a candidate for State Superintendent – has turned her social studies classroom into one of South Carolina’s preeminent political forums, with top statewide officeholders, powerful lawmakers and influential reporters (including the AP’s Jim Davenport) stopping by regularly to offer their two cents (and field questions from Payne’s students).
Our founding editor, Sic Willie, has spoken three times to the “It” Kids – and each time he’s been blown away by how knowledgeable – and opinionated – the kids are about politics and government (both in S.C. and beyond).
Landess’ visit comes at a critical time for her organization – and for Payne’s statewide candidacy.
Landess has gone to war with some some powerful enemies inside (and outside) the S.C. State House, whereas Payne was recently discovered to have had a romantic relationship with S.C. Comptroller General Richard Eckstrom.
Eckstrom is separated from his wife, while Payne is divorced.
Still, it’s good to see none of that getting in the way of these kids learning about the events that are shaping their state – from the people who are shaping those events.
We’re also looking forward to our (record) fourth “It” Kids visit, too!

This is pretty interesting.
Does Ms. Payne ever have Democrats speak with her students? Or is she using her teaching and the “It kids” to further her own political ambitions? I don’t know…..maybe she goes the extra mile to presents all sides of things.

Blah, Blah, Blah, Sic Willie is a hack and everyone who supports school choice is being paid by Howie Rich. Seriously, that’s all you got?
