By FITSNews || Despite the overwhelming rejection of his socialized medicine proposals by the American people, U.S. President Barack Obama is pressing forward with a new plan that takes the very worst components of prior legislative proposals and combines them into a new government-run monstrosity.
Obamacare 2.0 (or 3.0 or whatever it is) will also be rammed through the U.S. Congress, it appears, despite the Obama administration’s carefully-staged overtures at “bipartisanship.”
From the Wall Street Journal:
A mere three days before President Obama’s supposedly bipartisan health-care summit, the White House (on Monday) released a new blueprint that Democrats say they will ram through Congress with or without Republican support. So after election defeats in Virginia, New Jersey and even Massachusetts, and amid overwhelming public opposition, Democrats have decided to give the voters what they don’t want anyway.
Ah, the glory of “progressive” governance and democratic consent.
According to the latest polling from Rasmussen Reports, 56 percent of American voters oppose the health care proposals put forward by Obama and Congressional Democrats, while 41 percent support them. Within those numbers, however, is the real story. Forty-five percent of Americans “strongly oppose” Obama’s health care proposals, while only 23 percent strongly support them.
“I was actually surprised that they’re pushing it again,” North Carolina Blue Dog Rep. Heath Shuler told reporters in Washington on Tuesday. “The most important thing is jobs, jobs, jobs, jobs. We need to focus on jobs.”
Shuler shouldn’t be surprised.
Obama clearly sees the writing on the wall with respect to the 2010 elections, and understands that if he doesn’t pass his socialized medicine plan now, it may never pass.
Not surprisingly, Obama’s latest plan includes $750 billion in tax increases over the next decade, according to the Heritage Foundation. Even tanning supplies would be subjected to a new 10 percent tax.
And for those of you who think the “socialized medicine” tag doesn’t fit, check out this post from the Cato Institute showing how Obama’s proposal would attempt to drive consumers out of private plans much more aggressively than previous legislative versions.

Where is this overwhelming rejection by the American people?
A poll yesterday showed support for the President’s plan at 43%-43%. There’s nothing overwhelming about a tie. Oppose it if you’d like, but don’t lie.

I think if you read the article you will see reference to a poll that presents a different picture, Bobby.

Obama is a radical statist.
Obama doesn’t care if 60% of Americans are opposed to his government take-over of their healthcare.
After all, Obama knows what’s best for you…

No one fits the old joke with the punch line – “His lips are moving” better than Barack Hussein.

Don’t know what polls you’re reading, but the conservative bastions of the right at the NY Times and CBS say the American people disapprove of Obama on health care at 55-35%.

You can cherry pick polls all day, but that’s a political disaster in the making. BHO is a true believer, and he’s evidently willing to risk his second term to get this done before the mid-terms.

I had a good question on this issue earlier tonight: “What is your position on nationalized health care? I am really excited about the up coming elections and I wish you all the best! Thank you for doing the right thing and thank you again for speaking to the CCU College Republicans!”
Here was my short answer: “…because I’m at Ft. Bragg I’ll have to elaborate more later.
First, I don’t call it Nationalized Health Care – I call it what it is “Federalized Health Care” which (#1) makes it Unconstitutional and (#2) puts it into the original “Federalist Papers” argument framework about the role of the Federal Government. Second, I’m against it.
Let me add a third: What have the Republicans been doing asleep waiting for the Democrats to push it this far before coming up with a plan or at least an answer to the Health Care Problem? Gosh, Hillary Care was around for years long before Obama Care and the Republican leadership did nothing.
What a bunch of senile Elephant Nancy Boys: Wait for the punch to hit the face then dodge the fist that has already hit you.

Research the insurance companies. Find out who owns who.
You’ll quickly understand the argument is- nationalized/federalized CHOICE versus ONE TOO BIG TO FAIL INSURANCE COMPANY/BANK!
So you want socialism or fascism… that’s your choice people.

Watched the first 30 minutes of the Great One’s bi-partisan meeting. Bull$hit. Same $hit, different day. Reid and Pelosi’s arrogance. Obama’s slick smoke and mirrors.
