Sanford Should Skip Governors Meeting

mark sanford restructuring

By FITSNews || S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford – who flew the state plane to a prayer meeting in Washington D.C. earlier this month – is jetting off to the nation’s capital again this weekend (on your dime) to schmooze with the nation’s governors.

Sanford will attend the National Governors Association’s annual winter meeting in Washington, which is a complete and total waste of time – and a meeting that the governor should seriously rethink attending.  Honestly, does anybody other than Sanford really believe that S.C. taxpayers should shell out $106,000 in annual dues so that the governor can charge two swanky weekend vacations to the taxpayer tab each year?

Of course not …

Oh, Sanford is also a member of the Republican Governors Association and the Southern Governors Association, and has traveled on the state dime to numerous meetings of both of those organizations – often bringing several staff members with him. In fact, Sanford was chairman of the RGA until last summer, when he resigned from that role in the wake of admitting an affair with his Argentine lover, Maria Belen Chapur.

The governor obviously isn’t alone when it comes to attending these “educational” conferences, though.

Who can forget the four state lawmakers who flew to North Carolina – that’s right, flew to North Carolina – on the state plane to attend a “legislative conference.”

S.C. Speaker Bobby Harrell also regularly attends “Speakers conferences.”

Frankly, every single one of these meetings is a waste of taxpayer money, which Texas Gov. Rick Perry acknowledged in 2002 when he stopped paying NGA dues.

Has that decision hurt Texas?

Well, it’s unemployment rate is about 4.3 percentage points lower than ours, so you tell us …

Fucking Sanfraud and his crooked enabling lawmakers have fucked this state up so bad it will take years to recover. He will never have to answer to anyone for his crimes against this state. We need to vote all of these crooked motherfuckers out of office in 2010. Well one good thing after next week when Jenny Sanfraud divorces his sorry ass we want have to pay the $600,000 a year for her staff anymore. If only we could boot Sanfrauds sorry ass out of this state and out of the tax payer funded governors mansion. Goddamn use both sides of a post it dickhead while spening $ 106,000 of my money to go to washington to chase pussy and look for his next job sonofbitch!!

I agree 100% with Cancerman. And I have no problem with his language. I would even add more colorful verbiage.

Cancerman, next time you post please tell us how you really feel.

We should applaud Mark at least for his honesty. He has no re-election to worry about, he is newly single. He’s going to DC to nail chicks.

I don’t live in SC, so the fact that he is using your money to do it is hilarious. He may as well give you folks the finger as he boards SC Air 1.

$106,000 in taxpayer money for his dues? are you f-ing kidding me? the fact is the vast majority of SC conservatives and republicans viewed him as a god and a shining light up until the very moment of his initial pathetic blubbering disgrace of a press conference when he got back from argentina. once again, the fact that this m@#$*r f@#$%r is still governor just proves that the citizens of SC are nothing more than serfs and peons who either still believe in this rigged system (ater all evidence to the contrary) or are just self deluders of the highest level. my only question is why is he spending big bucks on a hotel when he can stay in the C-street house?

Family Court Judge Jocelyn Cate of Charleston was assigned Friday to preside over the hearing ending the marriage of Gov. Mark Sanford and his wife Jenny – the first time a sitting South Carolina governor has divorced.

A court roster published Friday shows Cate, who has served on the family court bench for eight years, will preside over the final divorce hearing set for Feb. 26.

I hope when the new governor comes in, he removes all of Sanfrauds appointees from his cabinet agencies. Otherwise they will continue to cover for his ass statring with Reggie Loyd.
