Stephon Marbury’s Big Adventure

By FITSNews || While the Olympic coverage in Vancouver is all the rage in the sporting world, we turn our attention briefly to the home of the 2008 Games – China.

There, former NBA star Stephon Marbury is playing for the Shanxi Zhongyu Brave Dragons of the Chinese Basketball Association.

Marbury – who had a famous falling out in the Big Apple after four turbulent years with the Knicks (including a 2007 game in which his father died of a heart attack in the stands) – averaged nearly 20 points a game in thirteen seasons in the NBA playing for five different teams.

Our favorite sports site – Deadspin – has a solid feature story up on the two-time All-Star’s fantastic voyage behind the Great (Fire)Wall, despite the fact that the 6′ 2″ guard wanted nothing to do with the publication.

“I’m cool on Deadspin, I’m cool,” Marbury told their reporter.

And “cool on” is decidedly different than “cool with.”  It means “icy,” as Deadspin‘s Anthony Tao soon discovered.

The good news?

The art of the sports feature story is not dead in this age of computers and short attention spans.
