By FITSNews || U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint lost an opponent in his bid for reelection on Wednesday, but Democrat Chad McGowan’s didn’t “go gently into that good night.”
In a letter sent to supporters on Thursday, McGowan rehashed the talking points from his announcement, but added this swipe against DeMint:
Career politicians like Jim DeMint are detrimental to our state and to the political process. Politicians like DeMint think it’s all about getting your name in the paper, or your face on the news, even if it’s for all the wrong reasons. I decided to run because of the extreme partisanship that exists in politics today. It has only gotten worse since then, and it’s not doing South Carolina any good. DeMint has become a part of a corrupt system that has infested Washington and will continue to infect our government until we elect people who vote in the best interests of the people they represent, not the special interests who finance their campaigns. Jim DeMint has never been on the side of middle-class families, and his voting record reflects it. We must defeat obstructionists like Jim DeMint and Joe Wilson in 2010. I’m willing to help any competent candidate who steps forward to hold these guys accountable. Our state and country depend on it.
First of all, the notion that Jim DeMint – who has pissed off both Republicans and Democrats in D.C. defending taxpayers – is somehow “part of a corrupt system” is one of the dumbest things we’ve heard in a long time.
Joe Wilson on the other hand?
Absolutely. He’s a RINO. And a fraud.
But DeMint?
Last time we checked this was the only guy in Washington D.C. who was actually voting “in the best interests of the people (he) represent(s).”
Anyway, in his letter McGowan also acknowledged rumors we’d been hearing that national Democrats weren’t happy with some of his positions.
“Some people were unhappy that I wasn’t as liberal as most Democrats in South Carolina,” he wrote. “Some people were upset that I couldn’t support abortion-on-demand, or government-run single-payer healthcare. I was unwilling to change my beliefs on any issue. I’m proud that I entered this race as Chad McGowan, and even prouder that I exited the same way.”

And realizing you didn’t have a chance in hell of beating DeMint didn’t have anything to do with right?

Countryboy…I think you stated the obvious.
I would like to know what you people have on DeMint that you criticize him.
He has the best voting record in the senate.Unless you are a socialist you should be praising his representation all day long…..
Seriously..what has he said or done that is wrong for this state or country??

DeMint is the only politician I trust with S.C. next to his name.
