Bill Clinton Undergoes Heart Surgery
By FITSNews || Former U.S. President Bill Clinton was rushed to a New York hospital after experience chest pains on Thursday.
The 63-year-old former chief executive, who has a history of heart problems, underwent an emergency procedure that included the insertion of two stents into his native coronary artery. Apparently, one of the bypass grafts from a major heart procedure Clinton underwent six years ago had become obstructed.
Clinton’s previous surgery – a quadruple bypass – developed rare lung complications that necessitated another surgery six months later.
The former president has been busy lately, having just returned from his second trip to earthquake-ravaged Haiti. He was also a key player last year in negotiations with North Korea to free two U.S. journalists.
“President Clinton is in good spirits, and will continue to focus on the work of his Foundation and Haiti’s relief and long-term recovery efforts,” his spokesman said.
Since Clinton is reportedly doing alright, we did find one nugget from the LA Times coverage of his heart procedure a bit humorous:
Clinton’s wife, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, was seen this afternoon leaving the Oval Office and did not seem “too concerned” or “in a rush.”
Ha! No kidding!
Wonder if Hillary would have been in a rush if this girl was in the hospital … (ooooooo, cold-blooded!)
Anyway, people can say what they want about him (us included), but of the last three U.S. presidents, we’d take Clinton any day of the week …
Viva Slick Willie!
UPDATE: Clinton has now been released from the hospital.
