Richter To Run For Lt. Governor?

larry richter

By FITSNews || A few months ago, disgraced former judge Larry Richter was making some noise in Lowcountry legal circles about joining the Republican primary race for S.C. Attorney General.  We shone some light on this attempted infestation of the state’s political process, however, and Richter quickly scurried back underneath whatever scum-coated rock serves as his home.

You can check out that story by clicking here, and believe us … when we called this guy a “bottom-feeder,” we were giving him the compliment of a lifetime!

According to this morning’s editions of the Charleston (S.C.) Post and Courier, however, the cockroach (a.k.a. Richter) is slithering across the floor again …

(S.C. Rep.) Tim Scott’s decision to run for Congress reverberated through the lieutenant governor’s race as Mount Pleasant lawyer Larry Richter indicated Monday he plans to keep it a three-way GOP contest.

Richter, who has served as a circuit judge and state senator, said people encouraged him to look at running for the seat after it became clear Scott would bow out. Richter expects to make a formal announcement before the week is out.

“I’m very interested in this position for a number of reasons, mostly because I guess you say I stay tuned with this stuff,” he said. “I’m not looking to make the office more than it is. … I don’t have any desire to use this as a sort of launching pad for anything else.”

Yeah … he won’t make it more than his personal playground, and a launching pad for corruption that would no doubt exceed anything we’ve previously seen from this office.

For those of you unfamiliar with Richter, he lost his seat on the bench years ago after he was accused of offering cocaine to a female law student. More recently, Richter is alleged to have sold out child victims of sexual abuse by colluding with a Circuit Court judge to pocket $2.5 million in legal fees (and insulate the Charleston Diocese from prosecution).

Classy guy, huh?

That case – which could very well be the most disgusting miscarriage of justice in the history of this notoriously corrupt state – is still pending.

Frankly, we hope Richter gets in, if for no other reason than there’s a very satisfying popping sound that accompanies the squashing of a cockroach.

Meanwhile, the two candidates currently running for Lt. Governor, Orangeburg attorney Bill Connor and Florence County Councilman Ken Ard offer a clear choice for voters – as evidenced by a recent debate exchange that we think perfectly encapsulates the battle that’s currently taking place for the heart and soul of the Republican Party.

BTW, Connor was the guy articulating the correct position in that debate.

And yes, our founding editor clearly has an “axe to grind” against Richter (we’re not afraid to admit that), but at the end of the day that axe isn’t going to rewrite Richter’s past or turn him into a worthy candidate in the future.

Richter’s already taken care of both those …

Sounds like a typical background for a SC politico and lawyer, I think he would be a great fit in the junior guvs office. The attention created by continuing to turn our state into a ripened fruit of smut for the MSM to put their paws on is sure to spur economic activity and job growth, at least on the blogosphere…

Ken Ard was on point with his answer in that video. He was very clear that he wanted to let the people decide if they wanted to raise their taxes to pay for roads. I’ll take an honest elected man who doesn’t forget the people he represents over someone who shoves their own opinion down the throats of the people who could possibly elected them. We the people are tired of candidate that says “I think this. I will not compromise. It’s my way or the highway.”

    Crash (this is Will),

    Sure.

Richter represented my former fiance in the now-infamous 2005 CDV case – a matter in which I (ill-advisedly) plead guilty to something I didn’t do in large part due to my former boss (the governor) throwing me completely under the bus.

I won’t get down into the weeds but over the course of that “trial,” there were some tactics employed by Richter which were less than savory at best, completely dishonest at worst. Anybody wishing to read about all that (and congrats on having that sort of free time if you do) should feel free to FOIA the Office of Disciplinary Counsel at the S.C. Supreme Court. They have the record of my complaint and the response of the Court.

I will say one word in Richter’s defense – when he had me down, he did not hesitate to go for the jugular and “finish me,” as they say in Mortal Kombat lore. Unfortunately, he didn’t accomplish that objective.

Obviously, I don’t sit around all day and think of ways to make Richter’s life miserable (FITS would be a pretty boring website if I did), but when he slithers onto my radar screen from time-to-time, I don’t hesitate to take a shot.

Oh, and when the guy is being investigated for conspiring with a judge to commit fraud and circumvent justice for sexually-abused altar boys, you better believe that’s the sort of thing I’m going to write about.

Look, I don’t know what level of honesty you wanted or how cut and dried you were expecting me to be about all of this, but there it is.

Chips now falling where they may.

Oh … thanks for asking, and thanks for reading FITS.

Thanks, that was more than enough. Why would she need counsel if she was just a victim in a simple CDV case? Was there a civil suit as well?

FITS, as in all things, it depends on whose ox is being gored. My wife (before our marriage) hired Richter to defend her in a suit brought by her ex regarding alimony and child support. It was being tried in a rural SC county by a judge who was buddies with the plaintiff. Richter slam dunked them all. So she certainly has no complaints about him.

Why would you plead guilty to something you didn’t do? You could have plead nolo contendre, which is not an admission of guilt.

David TR, shouldn’t you be licking stamps of something there in the campaign office?

Ard pushed the tax raise from day 1, preaching from his bully pulpit it was the opportunity of a lifetime for Florence County citizens. The council (of which he hasn’t given up his seat by the way) has used this tax money to grown the government in this county by 72% in just 2 years. He is a TAX AND SPEND RINO!!! The beauty of that is, he has a problem paying his own taxes.

Look around. Those in county government in Florence don’t like him, mayors in his district don’t like him, noone likes him except his campaign staff and Robert Cahaly who’s making a great living off of liking him. Hell, Karen Floyd is now starting to bail out of Ard’s camp after he tried to let everyone know she recruited him.

Noone wants another Hugh Leatherman RINO in elected office. We’ve had more than enough!!!

Kind of sounds like the lt. gov. candidate in Illinois who bowed out yesterday after his history of steroid use, CDV, and threatening his prostitute ex-girlfriend with a knife came out after he won the primary.

Confirms my opinion the primary reason for seeking public office these days is the quick trip to fame. With politics, you don’t have to have talent or even half a brain.

Given the kind of history Richter and the Illinois guy have, you know they are afflicted with mental disorders, too.

Someone please step up and run for Lt. Governor. This field is the best argument why this office should be eliminated or appointed. They days of a long serving state senator stepping up to take the honor as in years past are past.

As for Richter, he reminds me of a cheezy 70s porn actor who does not realize the time for his gold chains, open collars, and habit of calling young sluts “babycakes” has past.
