beentook2:

The GOP establishment is about team sports politics. I'm not and never will be about anything other than the Supreme Law of the Land.

I'm regular every day fellow who is (and the formerly shrinking, dying party should be grateful for my and others' attention to them or they'd be really screwed right now) using them to try to accomplish Constitutional government. Admittedly, it's experimental--just the first effort.

If that doesn't work, we'll soon have the expertise to gut the Republican party and leave their entrails drying in the sun as we create or join up with another party with CONSTITUTIONAL principles that are observed and enforced. It's really about getting the numbers to overwhelm the establishment and right now, at the grassroots level, we're swamping them.

WorkingTommyC,

No can do. Haley is nothing more than a female Mark Sanford and there is no way in hell I'm voting for her or ANY candidate that has any ties to our soon-to-be-former governor.

Damn WTC. I have a Haley bumper sticker but after reading your chapter of the GOP Bible, perhaps I need to do more. If you have any bikini shots, please post them and I'll make sure they get on the leaflets I hand out at the mall every fifth Saturday.

People are so d----d used to being wooed by politicians that they seem to forget that the politicians' wooing you is just one step before their screwing you.

It's time we all grow up and realize that we have to come at this from the other way around. Instead of begging politicians to use us, we need to look at which politician WE can best use to get what the hell WE want.

So, yeah, go ahead and act all whiny about this or that and you'll get nowhere. And I'm not talking about "compromising" as much as I'm talking about putting intense pressure on ANY candidate that gets in as governor. The trouble is that most in the GOP field will support the status quo that will protect their own corruption.

There IS a limited field of possibilities but the choice should be obvious. If you're waiting for the "perfect" man or woman to come along to vote for, you're going to be screwed repeatedly and never make it to the polls with one that's worth anything.

We need instead to concentrate on the MISSION vs. personalities in our movement. There's a movie called "Starship Troopers" where the sergeant played by Michael Ironside appoints a new corporal after the one before had an accident (an arm was melted off).

Ironside's character declared by manner of promotion: "YOU'RE IT UNTIL YOU'RE DEAD OR I FIND SOMEONE BETTER!"

THAT needs to be OUR attitude as well. Politicians are eminently replaceable--or should be--as intended by our Founding Fathers.

Step number one, as outlined in the recent rally on the statehouse grounds, is about bringing everyone together to get EVERY D----D vote on the record in the statehouse!

IT DOES NOT MATTER WHO CAME UP WITH THE IDEA! What matters is that it is THE first step necessary in providing the grassroots with vital basic information on how individual politicians vote in order to use our influence to the maximum.

We need to FOCUS LIKE A LASER on this one issue. Then, and only then, do we have a reasonable foundation for further work. Relying on the current environment of shifting lies and unregulated politicians is NO foundation for the fight to end massive and institutionalized corruption in the statehouse.

With such an obvious goal put forth, it is equally obvious that Nikki Haley is the ONLY candidate who:

1. Will actually pursue the goal.

2. Has actually proved herself willing to take on the corruption in both parties in working to expose them through a transparency law.

3. Doesn't care what the consequences are to her personally.

She's not after a career like the fat cats such as Jake "Porky" Knottzi whose main claim to fame is being Lindsey Gaham's fat b-----d friend.

She hasn't been on the public dole her whole life like Foghorn Leghorn McMastah nor spent eight years as a deliquent in "Gubernatorial Prep School" like Andre Bauer nor a vote-selling TARP sellout like Greshie Barrett.

I assume that you are referring mistakenly to Rep. Gresham Barrett. Is your animus meant instead to be directed at current Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate, Mayor Tom Barrett?

After all, I'm not sure what bothers you so much about Rep. Barrett's candidacy, given that a couple of weeks ago, you included Tom Coburn as amongst the “few fiscal conservatives” “who were actually fighting for the taxpayer in Washington.” (See
http://www.fitsnews.com/2010/01/30/a-note-to-our-democratic-commenters/).

Surely you know that Senator Coburn voted for TARP.

Ditto here, too. I simply cannot vote if there is no suitable candidate in the running. It's like betting on the Kentucky Derby when every horse in the race has a broken leg.
