We Heart A Gay

By FITSNews || One of the very first things we learned in this business was that the flies (critics) you don’t catch immediately with honey you can catch later on … with a howitzer.

Whatever it takes to get those wings off, right?

Of course, the single most effective response to critics is simply ignoring them, which has always been our policy when it comes to the website Waldo Lydecker’s Journal.  Until today, obviously.

Seriously, this guy runs the gayest of gay websites in the state … literally. And while we (very much) enjoy occasionally making fun of flaming queers, we absolutely adore bi-curious women.  So we’re sort of in the middle on that personally, which we think shows a remarkable degree of circumstantial discernment on our part.

From a political standpoint, though, we are very much in favor of gay rights. In fact, we have been in favor of gay rights for years, dating back to our opposition to the SCGOP’s Get Out The Vote … err, Defense of Marriage referendum four years ago, which sought to exploit Republican distaste for homosexuals into electoral gold.

That was pretty progressive of us, right?

Wrong, according to Lydecker – who blasts us daily (and we mean daily) for our flaming homophobia.  Seriously, almost everything we write, Lydecker has a post devoted to it.

Look, we hate to go all Nathan Jessup on this guy’s ass (he’d probably prefer us to go all Nathan Cox in his ass), but damn dude … if you’re going to pick a fight with somebody, why not go after the real homophobes in this state? Or for that matter all the gay politicians who refuse to come out of the closet?

Bottom line, you need us on that wall, Waldo.

Anyway, in spite of Lydecker’s phallic obsession with Sic Willie (whom he refers to as ‘Anaconda’), his site does occasionally sprinkle some worthwhile observations amid all the self-loathing.
