By FITSNews || S.C. Rep. Nikki Haley held forth on her rivals in the 2010 GOP gubernatorial race this week, offering blunt assessments of the three candidates she is facing in this summer’s primary election.
As the self-styled “reform candidate” (i.e. “Sanford candidate”) Haley’s campaign appeared to be dead in the water when S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford decided to destroy his political career during the Maria Belen Chapur scandal and its aftermath.
Recent polls, however, have shown Haley gaining ground on her three establishment opponents – a trend she is obviously seeking to exploit by taking some subtle jabs.
Specifically, Haley said that U.S. Rep. Gresham Barrett was too “D.C.- minded” and that his “knee-jerk” vote on the Wall Street bailout cost taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars. Barrett initially opposed the TARP bailout, then flip-flopped and supported it.
Regarding S.C. Attorney General Henry McMaster, Haley said that he “has been great for our state in the Attorney General’s office but he isn’t looking out for the small businesses like I am.”
“And then there’s Lt. Governor Bauer … let’s just leave it at that,” Haley said, to laughter from the crowd.
Haley made the remarks while speaking to the College Republicans at Clemson University on Monday night.
Also receiving good reviews from the crowd was S.C. Rep. Jeff Duncan, who played football at Clemson under legendary head coach Danny Ford.

Finally I thought I had found a candidate I could believe in.
Nikki Haley embraced the tea party movement and talked about transparency and good government. No one was stronger against the federal stimulus than her.
At least that’s what I thought. But it turns out Nikki Haley was all talk.
You see yesterday I was talking to a friend of mine who works in the Statehouse, and my friend told me that Nikki Haley actually voted to take the stimulus money.
I couldn’t believe it. I got angry. I said show me the proof!
A few hours lately, my friend sent me a copy of the House Journal for March 9, 2009. Highlighted was a vote Nikki took. There it was in plain black and white. Amendment 73 to H. 3560…
It is the intent of the General Assembly to accept all available funds from the State Budget Stabilization Fund contained within the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The Office of State Budget is directed to increase agency federal fund authorizations for funds from the State Budget Stabilization Fund allocated by the General Assembly.
Nikki Haley voted yes. She voted to accept the stimulus. I was devastated.
And honestly, I could have gotten over that. After all, it’s just one vote in an otherwise stellar conservative career, but what I can’t get over is her hypocrisy.
Had she just come clean and admitted she voted for the stimulus instead of trying to pull one over on us, I would still be on her team. But I am fed up with these two-timing politicians who play us for fools. I’ve listened to her say she’d never accept stimulus money for months and now I am embarrassed I bought in to her campaign.
Oh and for what it’s worth, my friend also showed me where Nikki voted against the stimulus a couple of months later. So I guess just like John Kerry, she was for it before she was against it.
If you don’t believe me, get in touch with Nikki’s campaign and ask them. I know I’ve tried but haven’t heard back. Maybe you’ll have better luck.

She mention nothing about Bauer carrying the union vote, the pipefitters union! Sorry but I had to get in my childish dig in.

Needs to answers questions about China trip among other things. I do not think she has the guts to answer. Not a very honest and upfront person. Would be just more of the Luv Guv. Would rather vote for Drake over her!

I’m surprised that Jenny Sullivan hasn’t told her to speak up and quit acting like a candidate for PTA secretary.

Darlin Nikki — Oh I wish you hadn’t voted to take the stimulus. Plus, I wish you had some experience or ran for a different higher office.

The birth of Harriett Owings (and “her” emails)…goes something like this:
Somewhere deep in the SCGOP headquarters or the Senate GOP office…
Wesley: Hello?
BJ: Wes. I just got off the phone with Gresham. We have this great idea.
Wesley: What idea? I’M JACKED!
BJ: Let’s make up a totally fake voter named Harriett Owings, take the Jim DeMint, Mitt Romney, and whatever other email lists you can “borrow” (don’t you have the SC GOP list too?) and sent out a bunch of negative stuff about Gresham’s opponents. I mean, you have the inside track to all of those email addresses, right? Easy enough?
Wesley: We can do that. I’M JACKED! You know I’m smarter than anyone around just because I talk so much, especially on this tech stuff. No way we’ll get caught this time. I learned some good lessons from PhoneyFred.org. Whew. Somebody get me a coffee because I’M JACKED!
BJ: Perfect. Remember, if you’re caught, we’ll throw you under the bus faster than those realtor and home builder lobbyists Gresham says he “now” hates.
Wesley: Politics. The Internets. Caffeine. I’M JACKED!

I wouldn’t vote for her because of her association with D. Frazier- Lexington Town Council who is running for a House Seat. Anyone who endorses him has a character flaw. Also, herd she was instrumental in getting Tim James back to Lexington Hospital. Talking about dirty dealings. She is just another member of the Lexington mafia

Nikki Haley is another Sanfraud dicksucker, the only reason Sanfraud took and interest in her was he wanted to fuck her stupid bitch, and yet Jenny Sanfraud TM , is endorsing her how fucked up is that. This state needs a fucking enima to clean out these fucking crooked self centered goons.

You know how Sanford is with exotic women, those doe eyes of his at the MSNBC debate just are creepy.

Will,
Someone told me you and Nikki had a fling. Is there any truth to the rumor, or is this more McMaster campaign schpin?*
*SEE: Rumor about photos of another gubernatorial candidate which suggest he was recently having an affair with a staffer.

Nikki endorse Danny Frazier? I don’t think so. I think I once heard her say something like “Jake Knotts, Jr.” once when referring to him. And you know how much she loves Jake “Boss Hog” Knotts.
By Coward February 3, 2010 at 9:18 pm
I have to disagree. I remember the ‘postcard’ when he first ran for the Town Council seat there was a picture and slogan that showed Haley and Pitts offering their support for Frazier. Again, I’d NEVER vote for her for that one reason…..
By SonOfDixie February 4, 2010 at 8:43 am
That’s too bad, Coward, because she is definitely the “anti-Frazier” candidate. She is the complete 180 degree opposite of everything I know about “Boss Hog, Jr.” Frazier.

Why do people feel they have to struggle so hard to come up with such outlandish lies and innuendo about Nikki Haley?
Is it because her opponents consist of:
1. The vote-selling Washington insider, TARP supporting, Gresham Barrett?
2. The law-breaking speedster, eugenics promoting pilot, Andre Bauer who lands on a runway that is too short to take off from–but he tries anyway?
3. The pandering, Craig’s List grandstanding, pompous stentorian, Henry McMastah whose buddy–who happened to be a judge–told him is was okay to take tens of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from attorneys he hired with state money?
Good grief! If I were one of her crooked opponents, I’d be desperate to stop her campaign from gaining traction, too!
By Reinald in Greer, SC February 5, 2010 at 10:28 am
No doubt in my mind who I’m voting for. She’s anit-establishment to the core. The others are just the regular good ole boys that have shamed SC on the national stage.
By Reinald in Greer, SC February 5, 2010 at 10:32 am
redneck1, you’re a stupid fucking bitch. I’d like to kick your ass. Where do you live fucker?
