Sanford Disses Tim Scott
By FITSNews || As far as we can tell, the Republican “establishments” in both Washington D.C. and Columbia, S.C. are rallying around State Rep. Tim Scott’s as-yet-unannounced bid for the S.C. First Congressional District – the coastal Congressional seat being vacated in 2010 by longtime RINO Henry Brown.
Scott is currently the only black Republican in the S.C. General Assembly, and if he wins the Congressional race, he would be the only black Republican in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Black or white, he also wouldn’t be a bad choice for the post as far as we’re concerned, although we remain intrigued by the candidacy of military mom and Tea party activist Katherine Jenerette, a so-called “minor” candidate who is mounting a solid early grassroots campaign.
Anyway, in the attention deficit world that is today’s political news cycle, a lot of folks have forgotten that just three years ago, Scott was S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford’s choice to become State Treasurer when Thomas Ravenel was forced to resign over drug charges. Sanford was full of praise for Scott at the time, seizing almost exclusively upon the “history-making” potential of … well, Scott’s pigmentation.
Legislators wound up electing one of their own – Converse Chellis – to the Treasurer’s office instead, but Scott was elected to the S.C. House the following year, beating two white GOP candidates in a largely rural House district with the help of the governor’s endorsement.
So … after backing Scott in each of his prior campaigns, Sanford is surely supporting Scott’s would-be Congressional bid, right?
Apparently not.
Sources tell FITS that Sanford dissed Scott’s candidacy last week just prior to a SCGOP gubernatorial debate in Charleston – an event which Sanford attended because, let’s face it, he’s got nothing better to do.
Sanford was dining with debate host Joe Scarborough at an upscale restaurant, sources say, when he bristled at the suggestion that he would be supporting Scott’s presumed candidacy.
“Whatever,” Sanford reportedly said, before blasting Scott for his failure to show up for a relatively inconsequential restructuring vote last week in Columbia.
Scott says he was busy doing “constituent service” at the time of the vote, although that excuse apparently isn’t flying with the grudge-holding governor.
In addition to Jenerette, Charleston County Councilman Paul Thurmond and Columbia lobbyist principal Carroll A. “Tumpy” Campbell are also running in this race.
Thurmond is the son of reformed segregationist U.S. Sen. Strom Thurmond, while Campbell – a member of a “whites only” Country Club in Columbia – is the son of former S.C. Gov. Carroll A. Campbell, Jr.

Who even cares who Sanford wants for the job? All we want is Sanford gone.

“Relatively inconsequential?” Didn’t it fail by one vote? Literally, his absence changed the entire outcome.

Came across this one and liked it.
One day a florist went to a barber for a haircut. After the cut, he asked about his bill, and the barber replied, ‘I cannot accept money from you. I’m doing community service this week.’ The florist was pleased and left the shop..
When the barber went to open his shop the next morning, there was a ‘thank you’ card and a dozen roses waiting for him at his door.
Later, a cop comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill, the barber again replied, ‘I cannot accept money from you. I’m doing community service this week.’ The cop was happy and left the shop.
The next morning when the barber went to open up, there was a ‘thank you’ card and a dozen donuts waiting for him at his door.
Then a Congressman came in for a haircut, and when he went to pay his bill, the barber again replied, ‘I cannot accept money from you. I’m doing community service this week.’ The Congressman was very happy and left the shop.
The next morning, when the barber went to open up, there were a dozen Congressmen lined up waiting for a free haircut.
And that, my friends, illustrates the fundamental difference between the citizens of our country and the politicians who run it.

Funny how when it’s a vote you care about, you blast them, but b/c Scott’s your boy (pardon the pun), it’s different.

Sanford’s endorsements used to be the kiss of death (even before his dilliances were found out about), am I the only one who remebers that him Sanford going door to door for Wingate help push Sen. Lourie into office??? If Sanford is against it, it is sure to pass/win/prevail/overcome et cetera. It doesn’t matter if it is a spouse, legislation, political agenda, person et cetera, Sanford’s opposition means it is a shoe in.

I agree with HMMM. Only Sanford’s own washed up Press Secretary would care about what Marky said over “dinner at an upscale restaurant” about Tim Scott.
No One Cares.
… sounds like Folks is gravitating away from his old crush Jennrette (Kathrine, not Van (He likes young daughters)) and towards Tim Scott.
Did Will realize that Jenrette stands NO chance of getting elected. Kathrine is to Horry County what Sherri Few is to Kershaw County…

I’m not absolutely positive, but I don’t recall Scott voting to sustain the governors vetos aimed at restoring fiscal sanity in SC. I’ll not knowingly vote for another RINO to fill a public office. Will, if you’d be so kind as to let your readers know if Scott supported the governor’s efforts to hold the line on spending or consistently voted with his buddy the Speaker to override most if not all of the governors vetos, the conservative voters in the first district will be most appreciative for your research.

fits news Dec 2008
“And then there’s Tim’s own promise to “stand with Governor Sanford (in) his fight to streamline government while making it more responsive to the voters,” which comes straight from his campaign website.
Well, Tim Scott has made history again, people – except not in a good way.
He has officially set the new land speed record for “going native,” the process by which politicians who campaign on fighting the establishment ultimately join it.
Except it Scott’s case, there’s no “ultimately” about it. He went native so fast it’s deserving of its own anthropological study … which of course we plan on conducting.
Accordingly, we’ll have the inside story on Scott and the rest of his Freshman Caucus in this weekend’s Echo Chamber, but needless to say most of the newly-elected “conservatives” in the S.C. House got off on the wrong foot.”

If you’re such a political expert, you’d know District 117 is a mostly suburban district. Take a look at the map.

Since I’ve been supporting Katherine Jenerette for Congress, I find myself getting addicted to FitsNews. If SC 1CD wants someone who won’t “go native” (or develop “Beltway Fever”), Katherine is your gal. She won’t raise as much money as “Tumpy” (yike, what a name) or Strom’s “youngest son” because she’s not for sale to the kind of people who have played major roles in the decline of our country. She’s a warrior in a war, and she is very good at warfare.

You guys aren’t serious, right? Do you actually believe the notoriously private Mark Sanford would let anyone get close enough to overhear his dinner conversation?
Tim Scott is a great conservative. But now he’s getting knifed by the washed up political hacks who are running the Campbell and Thurmond campaigns. Here’s my advice to you guys: try a littler harder next time. Anyone with a brain can see through these “scoops.”
Despite Tim’s rough start in 2009, he’s won accolades from a wide range of conservative groups and is one of the more respected younger members in the SC House. And if he stays in the Lt. Governor’s race, I bet he beats the Bill “The Panderer” Connor too.

can u just tell me which one is the least like to screw me over? he seems to be the best choice so far, hes the least RINO of them anyways

Tim Scott has been a huge disappointment. He sold out the reform movement to get in good with the Speaker, and he’s been rewarded. He talked a good game when he ran, but when push came to shove he caved. No way he gets my vote. He doesn’t care about serving the public at all, but only about advancing himself. Too bad. Thought he would be different.

Sanfraud has been in DC according to the Scoop.
This article may have something to do with his little trip to his old Congressional stomping grounds.

Who cares what Sanfraud wants or thinks.

Markie San has been one to maybe endorse a candidate ‘ere the primaries and maybe not. I doubt that Mr. Scott (two to beam up) is losing any sleep over not having a nod from Jenny’s pending ex, though I suspect Grumpy the lobbyist is huffing and puffing to gain that favour, besides riding daddy’s reputation.
To the disses Tim Scott lead… slow news day huh?

She’s very good at war. Maybe she’s very good at supporting people in incestous abuse trials, but I generally wouldn’t call pedophilia a war. And if your going to point out that people belong to all white clubs, and that they send thier daughters to all white cotillions, we should point out that your girl the ‘I failed at life so I joined the reserves and haven’t gone to combat because me children would be taken by the state’ is a monster.

I don’t know if Jenerette is a victim or a home wrecker or an enabler for a hideous criminal. I do know that she is not qualified to represent my family in congress.

Jenrette must be a real threat to the establishment. Hacks are using dirty political tricks and spreading false rumors. After reading some of that Van Jenrette stuff, It’s clear that the person who waited 30 yrs is on something and is answering herself using anonymous IP’s.
I think looking at her bio makes me believe that she is the best man for the job. I’ve heard her 3 times and she is consistant and a constitutionalist. The Tea Party folks are flocking to her. Guess those other guys are scared of a 5′7″ Girl who fights like a paratrooper. LOL (I saw that once on a bumper sticker)
Now another guy that seems to be a class act in this race is Ryan Buckhannon and then theres a guy running on the Libertarian ticket as well. Either one of the three of them would be better than those “I’m the Son of “take your pick”.
By Skidmarks on February 2nd, 2010 at 3:43 pm
Do the Jenrettes accept any government assistance such as SSI, food stamps, unemployment, public defender fees?
I’ll bet she is signed up for (gasp) government-run, health insurance through the armed forces.

“We remain intrigued by the candidacy of military mom and Tea party activist Katherine Jenerette, a so-called ‘minor’ candidate who is mounting a solid early grassroots campaign.”
That’s because she is a history professor who understands governments of Europe, American history ,African American history AND the Constitution.
That’s what we need today-educated people who aren’t career politicians like Scott.
“Republican ‘establishments’…are rallying around State Rep. Tim Scott’s as-yet-unannounced ….” We don’t need “establishment” candidates who are desired by the status quo. We need fresh faces with the education, experience, and passion to do what is needed for District 1.
