Colts In Blue

By FITSNews || As the designated “home team,” our founding editor’s beloved Indianapolis Colts will don their speed blue jerseys for Super Bowl XLIV. That means the “visiting” New Orleans Saints will wear white – and get to call “heads or tails” at the ceremonial coin toss.

Why does this matter?

It doesn’t, really, although the Colts are 2-0 in Super Bowls wearing white (V, XLI) and 0-1 wearing blue (Super Bowl III) if you’re into superstitious stuff like that – which our founding editor most assuredly is.

In fact, he has been known to select his game day jerseys, appetizers, beer brands and seating assignments for Colts’ games based on various superstitious hunches.  Prior to the beginning of the 2009 season he threw away a perfectly good $250 Eric Dickerson throwback jersey (that he only wore twice) because it had “bad karma.”

Sic was pleased with the Colts’ decision to go blue, as was his dog – “Peyton.”

“I wore my speed blue Peyton jersey for the AFC Championship game and that worked out pretty well,” he said.

Oh, in case anybody was wondering, the home team in the Super Bowl alternates each year between the AFC and the NFC.  AFC teams are the “home team” in even-numbered years, while NFC teams are the home team in odd-numbered years. And while the location of the Super Bowl rotates every year, the Colts always seem to wind up in Miami – the location of this year’s game as well as their three previous Super Bowls.

Incidentally, Super Bowl XLVI (in 2012) will be played at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

I understand Sic. I am a Panthers fan. I hate the powder blue jerseys. I think that they are bad luck. I cringe when the Panthers wear them. I refuse to wear blue jerseys or t-shirts when the Panthers are playing. I blame my blue hat for the playoff loss to the Cardinals last year. It has been burned in the outdoor fire pit, as is proper. :)

Seriously, Sic, I get the superstitions. I HATE the Saints. Go Colts. That is probably the kiss of death to your ream.
