Strays: Stop Feeding SC Politicians

stray dog

By FITSNews || Stray animals across the state of South Carolina banded together on Wednesday, demanding that Palmetto State taxpayers stop feeding their useless politicians.

“Grrrrrr,” they said. “Grrrrrrrrrrr.”

If only we could heed that advice … and do so while simultaneously avoiding jail time for tax evasion.

Anyway, the strays’ press conference was held in response to the comically asinine remarks of S.C. Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer last week regarding recipients of free and reduced lunches.

“Grrrrrr,” the strays said in response to Bauer’s remarks. “Grrrrrrrrr.”

While serving as another national PR disaster for South Carolina, Bauer’s comments nonetheless reminded us that animal adoption is one of the worthiest causes out there, although in full disclosure it involves not only feeding but housing and (gasp!) caring for stray animals.

UPDATE: The American Kennel Club just released its annual list of most popular dog breeds.  For the 19th consecutive year, Labrador Retrievers were No. 1 …

UPDATE II: We were seriously considering starting a TV show called “Is Your Politician Smarter Than A Labrador Retriever?” until network execs told us it was an “unworkable premise.”

Unlike strays, if we stop sending money to politicians, some guys with guns show up and make us.

Richard Todd from WTMA in Charleston reported this morning that Lt. Gov. Bauer was the recepient of free school lunch as a child. I hope he ate all of his veggies!

    Hey ‘w’,

You are right. I noticed the collar too! To some people a stray is any one at all. Anyone that THEY like, of course. That’s the point! The ‘stray’ is wearing a collar! Shouldn’t it be providing for itself and not be relying on everyone else? Why are they King? Is it their right to have everyone else work and bring the money (ie food) to them. Last I checked, I don’t have a money tree either. There’s a difference between the ‘stray’ and the neighbor’s puppy having to come over to your house to eat. It’s not the puppies that anyone ever turns away, it’s the strays not willing to help their puppies that is obnoxious. Also, it’s one thing for a person, such as myself, to adopt a stray, but an entirely different thing for me demand my neighbors pay for my new pet as well. If someone thinks it’s better to hold the stray as a pet in captivity, then they should provide well for it, themselves! Remember, what seems to happen in animal shelters, is that the puppies are adopted out quickly and the adult dog is often killed, or we might like to say, layed to rest. This is not an option with people of course!!! Alright then, so what can we do to help the ‘stray’ realize they are just a work dog like the rest of us?

I’m still researching by the way for the exact quote from Bauer that said he was wanting to cut the free lunches for children. From what I’ve read, I believe he was only suggesting that parents receiving the ‘free cash’ should be tested for illegal drugs and be required to actually participate in their child’s education. Doesn’t sound like a lot to ask for free money. I haven’t found any quote where Bauer said to ‘cut the school lunch programs’ (as suggested to in this article). Also, I’ve actually heard reports that 7% of children only get one meal a day, and it’s at school (Not sure if this was just the Upstate or the whole State). Well, more then likely, if that is the case, then the free cash is not being spent on food for the recipient’s children at home. Sure sounds like Bauer was just trying to find a way for the freebies to finally be an INCENTIVE rather then a DEPENDENT strangle hold on poor families, and those not having the knowledge and understanding of a strong education. This would probably be a good idea, in order to get them used to helping their child. I was disturbed at first by his comments too, until I realized that he was NOT making a ’simile’ and merely making (what some might find as a bad) ‘metaphor’! I also discovered that his mother was also on some sort of government assistance when he was little, for a time, and so he wants to help others help their own children reach out of poverty. He apparently sees one way of doing this through involvement in their children’s education, as his mom did. I don’t particularly care for Bauer either, but to twist a mans words and meaning is really reprehensible and pretty petty. I was mad at the comments at first too, especially because of the different articles and twists I’d read. However, then I reread his exact quotes, and sought out the actual intent (in context of the discussion itself). I then realized what he was actually saying. It was NOT about starving the children. Again, my understand is that he was simply wanting to leverage the ‘free cash’ as a way to get parents involved in actually helping their children succeed and move up the ladder. Wow! What a novel concept! Actually asking someone to obey the law and please come to their child’s school and show an interest in their own child’s life, well-being and future. He should be ashamed of himself! HA
Education is critical! The minds of our children are in need of being saved! That’s real love and ‘health’ reform!
