Sticking Up For Tebow
By FITSNews || By now, the whole world knows that Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Tim Tebow and his mom, Pam, will be starring in a pro-life commercial during Super Bowl XLIV.
The thirty-second spot – paid for by Focus on the Family – tells the story of Pam Tebow’s “turbulent” pregnancy with Tim, during which doctors advised her to have an abortion due to potential life-threatening complications resulting from an infection.
Obviously, Pam Tebow chose to have her son – who proceeded to become one of the greatest football players in NCAA history.
Abortion rights activists don’t like the Tebow ad, though, and they have mounted a campaign to have CBS pull it from its Super Bowl rotation claiming it could incite violence against abortion providers.
The campaign against the ad has prompted many who have spent significant energy rooting against Tebow to show their support for him.
For example, S.C. Sen. Kevin Bryant – a Georgia graduate and “lifelong DAWG” – recently found himself cheering for the Florida quarterback for the first time.
“As a conservative, the right to liberty of the unborn trumps all,” Bryant wrote on his blog. “The sanctity of life is priority.”
We agree with Bryant … and whether or not you like Tebow (we don’t) or this ad, it’s hard to justify pulling it.

How can you not like Tebow?? There is not a more stand up guy!!
I appreciate him not being afraid to put out who he is and to stand up for his beliefs…
As far as abortion,I personally think it is wrong.BUT!!The federal government has no (legal)power to set these standards.Criminal laws are set by the states and the people of the state should set their own moral standards.
Abortion is used mostly to get votes so RINOs don’t have to expose their records on corporatism.The same way they use their over the top “love of country”…as opposed to what??? The hate the country party??
People who fall for these type bullshit arguments are tools for the state.No different than the welfare crowd

Good for Tebow and the whole message I AGREE yea Pro-Life. But this very issue is a social issue not a political issue and as soon as the GOP puts this to bed we can then get down to business of smaller gov,less what ever fill in the blank. But the whole abortion issue holds the party back.Go ahead flame away call me a baby killer whatever but this issue needs to be put to bed.Go check out the pro-life crowd one day makes The Ron Paul(ets) look normal.

Incite violence against abortion providers? Really? How so? As I understand it, only a handful of people have seen the ad and that doesn’t include anyone belonging to any of these groups opposing it. I can’t wait for the specifics of how this ad will incite violence against abortion providers. I’m sure we’ll get them any day now. Maybe I shouldn’t hold my breath?

I’m pro choice and to the left of Tebow, but I admire him as a player and a person. I don’t care for Focus on the Family but if they want to pay for a commercial during the Super Bowl then more power to them. I’m more offended by those Go Daddy ads than anything Tebow would have to say.
That said, Kevin Bryant is a serious tool. Why those rednecks up in Anderson keep electing him is a mystery. Oh yeah, he spouts the same no new taxes, gun rights, family vaues bullshit and they eat up every bit of it. It figures he is a UGA grad.

He’s being used to raise funds for an organization that has no real interest in ending abortion. If they succeed in their mission, then what?
Abortion is God’s gift to nonprofit do nothings on both sides of the issue and the politicians who try so hard to do nothing. Keeping the fight alive raises more money than winning.

We were once the world’s largest creditor but now are the world’s largest debtor nation.
Suppose those robed gods in 1973 had decided to rule in favor of preserving life, instead of destroying it.
Who knows? Perhaps we would have another 40-50 million adults who speak English, pay taxes, medicare, and social security. We would likely not be talking about “rationed end of life care” and “death panels.”
I suspect that such discussions would not be occurring because our work force would have been large and resilient enough to support the increasing geriatric demographic.
Alas, the laws of unintended consequences…

Yeah, flipnut, we mock what we fear. Tebow isn’t being “used” by anyone, and he’s probably got a better head on his shoulders than the vast majority of Americans, and you, specifically. He’s a good kid, but you just go right on poking fun, and misrepresenting everything you lack the skills to understand.

This is “not a political issue” you say? Tell that to the Founding Fathers. Seems to me they certainly took this “social” issue as part of their political push. If not, then why did the framers start the Declaration with “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are LIFE, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness”? If that isn’t a pro-life statement, I don’t know what is.
And another thing: don’t be so quick to judge the pro-life crowd. If you had spent a couple hours on the State House grounds a few weeks back during the pro-life rally, you would have met good, decent folk from every walk who are as normal as the day is long. Are there a few crazy characters along for the ride? Yeah, but not any crazier than some of the posters on this site.

I understand disliking certain athletes because they grandstand, are too cocky, excell at times but fold under pressure, act thuggish, or even because they just constantly beat your team. Other reasons are out there, of course. But what’s with all the Tebow bashing? Is it just a bunch of failures in life jealous of somebody else who is successful? If you’re pro-abortion, then I guess I get it in this circumstance. But he hasn’t been forcing himself on anyone. If you don’t like seeing him all the time, change the channel and watch something else.

I agree with you abortion is wrong but it should not be what is the baseline of all GOP elected officials or the party as a whole.This is a social issue not a political one and should be removed from political conversation.Let the churches or other organization handle this like focus on the family or the local pregnancy care center.This issue holds the party back from moving on to other business at hand.

And sid, just because there’s more folks doesn’t mean there will be more jobs. If we have 20% unemplyment now then that means that 20% of existing folks that escaped the abortion Reefer are unemployed, ie there are no jobs for them. If you add 50 million more folks who successfully made it to daylight then there wouldn’t any jobs for them.
And lastly sid, whenever I encounter someone such as yourself, I often rethink my Pro Life stance.

Now, we don’t have 20% unemployment (give Barry time, and I’m sure he’ll do his best to get us there), but even if we did, your logic still fails, and as miserably as your homophobic rants (yeah, I’m still dinging you on that one). Logically, if there are more people, then there are more service needs, which means there are more jobs to fill (be they private sector or government). Unless, of course, you think that the added 50 million would simply lead to a complete collapse of our economy for some reason. You’d have to explain that position, though. Regardless, it seems rather unlikely that 100% of the 50 million additional lives would be unemployed.
But if you’re Pro Life AND homophobic, maybe you’re not a liberal after all, and I was simply wrong with my assessment of you. Rethinking your apparent Pro Life stance when you run into someone whose views are different from yours seems a bit extreme, though, as well as intolerant. You actually wish someone who disagrees with you, and points out your flaws and errors, was never born? Sounds like somebody is afraid of a little debate. Especially when the one you’re debating makes you look fairly foolish, childish, and, yes, homophobic. What are you hiding?

You seem to have a great deal of difficulties with simple reading comprehension, as well as with the general nature of this blog, and blogs in general. Let’s see if I can dumb it down for you.
First, blogs tend to be forums for a great deal of venom. I’m happy to feed into such an atmosphere when I feel it is warranted. If it is news to you regarding the nature of blogs, maybe you need to go back to whatever it is you did before you just recently began looking at blogs.
Second, I’m never shocked when people disagree with me. Nor have I ever exhibited anything even remotely indicating disagreement shocks me. What does shock me, at times, is how dumb people can be when posting on blogs. People like you, for example. If I come off as arrogant and pretentious…good. I am smarter than you, and probably “better” than you by most measuring sticks.
Next, I didn’t call anyone a “retard.” I called OBD a “math retard.” He may be quite brilliant in other areas (I even alluded to that in a post), but his exhibited math is retarded. Do you know what a qualifier is?
If the term “retard” concerns you, perhaps I struck too close to home. Maybe you had some sort of diagnosis at some point that used the term. If so, I apologize if I offended you, but my comment was directed at OBD, not you.
As for questioning sexuality, I called OBD a homophobe. Look it up, then go back a couple stories to where that statement originated in regard to him. You, by the way, made the “out of the closet” comment, directed at me. Do you even read what you are posting? You can be quite ironic at times.

If you’ve actually followed my posting patterns, as you imply you have, you would know I don’t cast the first negative stone. But if someone goes negative, I’m happy to oblige. I can sink, or rise, to virtually any level presented me. But I don’t set the tone.
