Congress Racks Up Climate Conference Costs

copenhagen

By FITSNews || U.S. taxpayers shelled out over $1 million for a 106-member legislative delegation to travel to December’s climate change conference in Copenhagen, according to an investigation of Congressional expensive reports published Monday by CBS News.

That figure – which includes several exorbitant hotel and food bills – obviously doesn’t account for the expenses associated with President Barack Obama’s 60-person entourage.

Talk about wasting money to waste even larger amounts of money … at a time when our nation can least afford it.

Among the delegation members were numerous political spouses, and believe us when we tell you they lived high on the hog … on your dime.

California Rep. Henry Waxman (D – California), for example, shelled out $2,200 a day for food and lodging – as did over a dozen other lawmakers who made the trip (including several Republicans).

Pelosi – who took her husband to Copenhagen – has obviously had her plane problems in the past, but we figured that in light of the ongoing recession that’s gripping our nation these big shots might have found a way to keep their per diem costs under $1,000 at least.

Guess not.

Incidentally, the average nightly hotel room price in Copenhagen – according to the official climate conference website – ranges between $280-$380, which includes breakfast.

Obviously, $1 million in travel costs is chump change compared to the billions Obama wants to force down the throat of the American taxpayers as part of his effort to help third world countries “fight climate change,” but it’s the principle that matters.

We probably paid for Gore’s fat ass to go to the conference too, if he still has secret service protection.
