By FITSNews || He campaigned on the so-called “audacity of hope,” but now U.S. President Barack Obama is confronting the cold, hard “reality of desperation.”
Electoral setbacks across the country – but most notably a shocking rebuke of his agenda in a U.S. Senate race in Massachusetts – have sent the silky-tongued socialists in the Obama administration back to the drawing board.
Accordingly, Obama’s big play last week was to “expand the role” of his former campaign manager David Plouffe, who has spent the last year writing a memoir about the 2008 campaign called “The Audacity To Win.”
Here it is, in fact …
Sheesh.
Can these people give the audaciousness a rest for two seconds?
First of all, there was nothing “audacious” about Obama’s 2008 win.
He promised tax cuts to the middle class and government handouts to the poor, a potent electoral combination that was fueled by a fawning media in love with his rhetoric and (let’s be honest) his skin color. On top of all that, Obama was running against the absolute worst presidential campaign in the history of American politics, not to mention the worst president (at that point) in American history.
Hell, a year later he’s still running against Bush.
Seriously, what’s “audacious” about any of that?
Obama (obviously) didn’t run on truly “audacious” things like exploding the debt, bailing out bloated state bureaucracies or socializing medicine, because voters wouldn’t have supported any of that – as evidenced by their current averse reaction to it. That’s why Obama should have called his book “the audaciousness of using conventional liberal class warfare to disguise a full-frontal on American freedom and free markets.”
Although that probably wouldn’t have sold.
But here’s the bigger picture … Obama’s current nadir cannot be escaped by “audacious” staffing moves. That’s because it doesn’t really matter who’s selling this crap … America isn’t buying.

Obama won the election because lots of Americans…That is those even enough in tune to vote…Are very superficial and shallow.
If you have ever seen interviews of people at campaign stops they have no real clue to what the politicians believe or stand for..They only have a grasp of sound bites and rhetoric.
Obama won because people were tired of Bush and viewed Obama as a total 180 from Bush.
Now people are starting to get it.Obama is only better from Bush,if you think Stalin was better than Mussolini. That socialism is some how different than facism and is a smarter agenda.
I still think freedom is better than being a slave. But that’s just me.

C’mon Fits, you know no one exploded the deficit more than Republican George Bush. And no one socialized this country more than Republican George Bush. He instituted 8 tax payer funded bailouts of the private sector– more than any president in history. Needless to say, TARP was under Bush, not Obama. No one president redistributed more American wealth to socialize the private sector more than the Republicans. You know all this.
No one in 80 years has grown government more than George Bush. His only domestic accomplishment is a trillion dollar expansion of Medicare. Government grew leaps and bounds under Bush and the GOP. Government spending nearly tripled and he took the largest surplus in history and turned it into the largest deficit in the world has ever seen. All this from so-called conservative Republicans. And now you want to talk about a Democrat???
Listening to Republicans talk about small government, fiscal responsibility and capitalism is like listening to Jeffrey Dahmer saying he cared for his victims.
Nice try Fits, but if you’re selling this stuff, you’re ripping everyone off.

Chris-
Before you self-promote on this website, you better familiarize yourself with our content.
We rip (and have ripped) “Republicans” new assholes for YEARS. We have blasted them for TARP, entitlement expansions and deficit spending for YEARS.
Years, son.
Blasting them on all the stuff you just mentioned.
Just click on the links in the above article you just commented on, if you don’t believe us.

How did I self-promote? I don’t even link to anything. There’s a link in the comment head but I didn’t put it there or self-promote anything. That’s your form’s fault not mine.
Your links say nothing about calling Bush’s expansionist government socialism, which it certainly was. Your post also leaves the impression that Obama has “exploded the deficit.” He hasn’t. It was $1.4 trillion when he took office. That he wants to socialize medicine, which he hasn’t. Even if HCR did pass it would still be cheaper and smaller than Bush’s Homeland Security or his trillion dollar expansion of Medicare. And again, no one bloated more state bureaucracies than Bush.
So even if Obama did the things you claim he wants to, it would still be less than Bush and the GOP did. And doing less than Bush was all you required to vote for McCain it appears, or at least judging by your links in the above post.
Call me what you want, it won’t matter to me.
Fact of the matter is, no president in American history has ever inherited two on-going endless wars and an economy in free fall.
By ron January 25, 2010 at 3:50 pm
Gee, Chris–reading your comments almost made me forget that the DEMOCRATS have controlled Congress and hence federal spending since 2006…
By suraj January 25, 2010 at 4:07 pm
It’s a good thing Obama campaigned that he would never, ever support any legislation containing any earmarks–
Oh wait…he signed over 9,000 earmarks in his first signed spending bill…
Well, at least he pledged to end no-compete government bidding–
Oh wait… he just awarded a large political donor over $25 million (in taxpayer’s funds) to handle “legal instruction” in Afghanistan…
At least Obama is gonna make sure all those healthcare “deliberations” will be recorded openly on CSPAN for all of America to view…
By Chris- The Fold January 25, 2010 at 4:26 pm
Ron, it’s a good thing a Republican president didn’t submit a budget that was hundreds of billions of dollars in the red to the Congress you mention. It’s a good thing cause then Republicans wouldn’t be able to go around talking about fiscal conservatism and small government with a straight face.
By Chris- The Fold January 25, 2010 at 4:55 pm
Just one more thing to show how ridiculous this post is Fits.
You claim:
“Obama (obviously) didn’t run on truly “audacious” things like exploding the debt, bailing out bloated state bureaucracies or socializing medicine, because voters wouldn’t have supported any of that – as evidenced by their current averse reaction to it.”
Firs off, he hasn’t exploded the debt or the deficit. Republican George Bush did that. Secondly, the stimulus package that largely went to the states, is the only thing keeping this country from imploding after 8 years of Republican rule– as evidenced by all the GOP lawmakers bragging about it in their districts. Thirdly, Obama openly ran on HCR, even reform with a public option. Call it socialism if you want, that’s fine with me. But guess what? He won. He openly ran his campaign on expanding the role of government in health care and he got more votes than any person in history.
Saying that he didn’t run on reforming health care (socializing medicine as you prefer) because voters wouldn’t have supported it is just not true.
Fits you usually do a better job than this. You’re just slipping this time. No biggie.

Sounds like someone needs to MoveOn. Barry still blames Bush for all his failures, so his drones follow suit. I guess The Fold refers to the one under the chin.

I’m still confused how a blog with Will Folks on the masthead continues to make cracks about double chins?
And Chris, don’t worry about using facts here on fits. It’s like kryptonite. Just put your money a book…

What damned good was a Democratic controlled anything when Bush just did what the hell he wanted anyway?
Obama failed when he bailed out the banks.
I can’t believe folks are still subscribing to the Dem/Repub pagentry.
They are both failures. Period.
Pat Hendrix, you are so right. Why don’t you run for something? You’d have my vote. I’m not being sarcastic, either.
By wade January 25, 2010 at 7:11 pm
Chris-
Obama is a liar and the American people are sick of his lying.
Even historically liberal Massachusetts voted in a moderate Republican–in Teddy’s old seat, for Pete’s sakes!
Regarding health care reform, Obama told “Joe the Plumber” that he wasn’t a socialist. Liar! Why doesn’t Obama allow health care insurance companies to compete across state lines, Chris? Surely, that would reduce health care costs. Why doesn’t lawyer Obama move to reform obscene profiteering by malpractice lawyers, Chris? We all know that the cost of medicine is increased dramatically due to frivolous law suits and defensive medicine, Chris.
JFK challenged America to “…ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country…”
Obama and is radical socialists ask Americans…”ask not what you can do for your country, but what your government can steal from your neighbor…”
By Liberty For Me January 25, 2010 at 7:19 pm
“Chris” So you are saying because Bush was the worst president since Abraham Lincoln, then it is OK for Obama to be even worse?or Obama is bad because of Bush? What is your point? If you are so smart why are you even mentioning parties?
By Mike at the Beach January 25, 2010 at 8:15 pm
You can’t take anyone who can say “eight years of Republican rule” with a straight face seriously; they don’t understand our system well enough to have an intelligent conversation that goes beyond tired old talking points and Bush-blaming. Let it go, man, he’s gone. Find a new boogeyman…
On the other hand, he HAVE enjoyed over a year now of true Democrat rule. How’s that working out for everyone?
By frank January 25, 2010 at 8:36 pm
Question-How do you know Obama is lying?
Answer-His lips are moving.
By The BOSS January 25, 2010 at 9:31 pm
Chrissy,
Why you so upset with yo man Obama! He is a miserable failure! He has let everyone down. For me, I consider his failure a success for the country. That little jerk in the picture above will not turn his failure around either. He has been uncovered as the fraud that he is!
