Aints Are America’s Team
By FITSNews || Forget the Cowboys, the Patriots or the Steelers …
And no one’s pulling for Peyton Manning in this game, either.
America’s fan favorites headed into Super Bowl XLIV are clearly the New Orleans Saints (formerly the “Ain’ts”) – or at least they will be once the league’s marketing gurus and network TV executives are done.
In fact, you can bet your bottom dollar that TV producers all across the country are scurrying for Hurricane Katrina file footage right now faster than you can say “play up the human interest angle.”
The levies of emotion are about to break, people … and when the story of this “little franchise that could” is finally told, there won’t be a dry eye in the country.
“This is for everybody in this city,” Saints coach Sean Payton said after his team defeated the Minnesota Vikings 31-28 in overtime Sunday night. “This stadium used to have holes in it and used to be wet. It’s not wet anymore. This is for the city of New Orleans.”
Yup … here we go.
Somewhere, an underpaid graphic artist is busily splicing together time-lapse photography of the Superdome, which was ground zero for the storm which slammed into New Orleans on August 29, 2005 causing $90 billion worth of damage – and costing nearly 2,000 lives. And which, in its aftermath, became the latest case study in governmental incompetence.
Yup, this is gonna be some kind of production, folks … one in which the villain role has already been assigned to our founding editor’s beloved Indianapolis Colts.
UPDATE: BTW, the Colts have opened as four-point favorites.

Considering the size of this country…and the state of Louisiana for that matter.I have little pity for someone dumb enough to build houses below sea level.
I equate that with mountain climbing, skydiving, lion taming…ETC.You get what you get.People that do stupid shit have bad things happen to them. Those responsible enough to do smart things should not have to foot the bill.I have to have my house insured don’t you?? Why Should I have to pay for people that don’t have insurance. If you want to live in a situation that is uninsurable, then you are at your own peril.
I wont feel one bit emotional no matter how many sad government leeches they show during the superbowl.
GEE how many years later and you still live in a free government trailer??..I think I could have saved up quite a stash by now…PLEASE
By Rufus Pinochle on January 25th, 2010 at 1:32 pm
Agreed. As an aside, does anyone else ever recall a post-season game where the home team had a 5-1 edge in turnovers and still had to go to overtime to win?

Let us not forget how the Colt’s broke the hearts of some of the most loyal football fans in the world when they moved like a thieft in the night from Baltimore to Indy. For this the Colt’s owners are among the worse villians in NFL history. Even their greatest player, Johnny Unitis, refused to have anything to do with the Colts after this out of respect for the people of Batimore.

Saved up a stash, how? Oh, yeah with the record unemployment due to the worst economy since the depression and a natural disaster plus a person who was working class to begin with, yeah I could see how all of those residents should have a stash of cash in the bank, esp the 80 plus woman I saw in a story recently in a FEMA trailer. I’m sure she could be a prime candidate for the slim to no jobs in NOLA.Btw, Go Saints!

“Journey1″…The economy was not bad for the last five years. If you get free housing..free utilities and free food and cant save up money to make a huge start. Then you dont need to eat or exist.
I am sure there may be an exception with age.But still it is not up to me to feed anyone. That is what churchs and the salvation army etc are for.
…It is supposed to be a free country.”Free” meaning rights. Not “free” as in leeching off people who work….Get a clue!!

Journey,
Pay no attention to Liberty. He takes money from the feds when he needs it and howls to the moon that we are being enslaved by the “gubment.”
Having said that, let me have a drink of bourbon as I look at my W2 and the pile of cash I payed into FICA. Damn old people, I’m going to have to switch to Old Crow.

Pat…please clue me in on what money I take from the government. Then tell me how government has money if they dont forcibly take it through the barrel of a gun.
By the way,I love the way you people always turn issues personal to distract from loosing arguments

If God loved the NFL, the Jets would have beaten the Colts and handed them their SECOND loss in what should have been a perfect season. The Colts have no love for the game or respect for its history, but as they always say, “bidness is bidness…”

o and liberty you dont need the word “Liberty” in your name sense you do pretty much act as in a Nazi Attitude for as Cruelty goes “If you get free housing..free utilities and free food and cant save up money to make a huge start.”"Then you dont need to eat or exist”".”
By Liberty For Me on January 26th, 2010 at 10:09 am
NewOrleansOwn..I think you made my point.Do you know what the word coherent means??.As in coherent sentence.
Nazis were for the German collective you fool…Please get an education before you start typing. Being a football fan wont pay the bills.

I’m not sure how partying in the streets after games is supposed to make people feel better for the residents of New Orleans. It would seem that a little restraint and fiscal responsibility would be more admirable. It’s just a game, after all. If you are having trouble making ends meet, I would think heading out to bars every Sunday to spend money on overpriced booze is not in going to do much to get you out of debt.
By LibertyForMeisanIdiot on January 27th, 2010 at 12:42 pm
Get your facts straight MOST of new orleans is above sea leve. Only 5 % is below and that is the 9th ward areas.
Know the facts before you speak.
You are a complete idiot. You need to get an education.
I Live in new orleans and work in new orleans. I have tulane degree and probably make more money than you.
Go crawl back in your trailer!
By Liberty For Me on January 27th, 2010 at 1:56 pm
oHHHH Tulane….I was talking about the 5% then you tool. The reason it was such a disastor was the levis breaking..If they were not below sea level they would not need levis..Correct??
Besides what does that have to do with my point.I and everyone else should not be your keeper unless we want to be.If my house burns down I bet you wont pay me.So why should I pay you.You think your dumbass tulane education can figure that out.
